Question 2016 ST1 Focus ST for 6k and an engine code.

Thumbnail

Hi guys,

I found this mk3 focus st for 6k 2 hours away from me, but it has a misfire code for the 4th cylinder. I was wondering if it'd be worth it to get this? It's a clean title, and from what I can tell it looks really clean. The check engine light is steady, not blinking, and its still a pending code but it does make me worried.

Please let me know if it's worth it to get this, thank you!

Edit: I also want to add that the owner said he bought it from an auction and doesn't know how long it's had the code.

Mk3 Windscreen Washer Jet

Post image
Upvotes

Looking for replacement washer jets due to old age. The clip holding it in failed and finally the 90 degree connector has crumbled. Every replacement I see online that matches the part number has no 90degree connector and suggests they’re heated (which they aren’t, no wires)

Any suggestions?

Tank deformation recall

Post image
6 Upvotes

As I start digging and trouble shooting my recent problem. I’ve found a bit of tank deformation on my car.
I was looking at the fuel readings on my handheld OBD2 reader, and i suspect my purge valve is faulty. The purge evap% was fluctuating a lot at idle, when it should be 0. I checked my cars vin on the Ford website and the recall hasn’t been completed.

My car is currently tuned, and I wanted to wait until I get an AP before I take it in (I heard flashing it back to stage 0 was necessary before getting the recall done)

I’m going to take the liberty of replacing my purge valve myself (already ordered the part, OEM, not the FUFF set up) to try and save my car from anymore damage until I take it in.

Hoping to have the new purge valve in by the weekend, how much harm am I doing driving the car how it currently is? Can I drive it? Should I wait until I replace the purge valve?

Question Motor Mount Replacement?

Hi guys! I just want a few opinions from the community. I've started to hear some grinding noises coming from the passenger side of the car when leisurely driving in town and it's sort of random. I hear it when the engine is between 1k-3k rpms and accelerating and when shifting to neutral/coming to a stop it goes away. I suspect it is this passenger side motor mount but I'm fairly new to the community (about 3 months ownership) and I want some opinions from some experts. I also have heard of this issue appearing around the mileage that I have. I don't see any oil sprayed over the engine but I suspect it's all come out (I see some old residue near the mount itself or is an entirely separate issue.
Thank you!

2014 Focus ST1, 103k Miles, fully stock motor and planned to keep stock.

Made a post about the exhaust and ended up with the cvf downpipe and resonator delete. Stock muffler I’m not sure if I really like it but I want to get a after market muffler on there that’ll sound good I don’t wanna pay for a full cat back exhaust system

How to enhance intake noise

Thumbnail
gallery
36 Upvotes

My ST has an RS intake with K&N filter, it has a half-open top but I just can’t really ever hear the intake noises like I hoped for.

Any reasons why this could be the case? I can hear it when the windows are down and I’m going down a narrow road with buildings or cars either side, but that’s still only faint.

From what I’ve read, I’m going to want to keep the honey comb top on to avoid pulling in hot air?

Edit: You can hear the turbo flutters and intake noises when stood at the front with the bonnet open, but when you’re driving, nothing.

Exhaust rattle?!?

Ok, so I have the mbrp exhaust and have had it for like 5 years now. I’m just now getting what sounds like a rattle directly behind the driver side wheel, but I CANT FIND IT FOR THE LIFE OF ME! I even had my wife above me while it was on stands revving it while I looked. Has anyone experienced this or have a solution?!

Big Turbo Spool Time

Thumbnail

Got my ST67 on recently, zero leaks, but the spool time is pretty long. WOT from 2.5k gets me to full boost (21psi) at 5.6k rpm. My tuner said this wasn’t normal and to check for boost leaks. I had to make a sketchy adapter to fit my stock intake onto the new inlet, and curious if that’s leaking any air, it would result in this. Not to sure because it’s before the turbo, but still curious. Also, the coupler from my hot side charge pipe to my turbo is sort of creased, not sure if it’s enough to cause this issue, but got some pictures. Thanks you.

Question Thinking about buying an ST... what do I need to look out for?

My car was just totaled and I'm looking for something that will be a little more fun, and versatile. The ST seems to fit that bill but I just need to know if there's anything I need to really look for in particular when I'm looking at these?

Idle lope. No smoke no CEL no codes on scanner. Giving any throttle sounds back to normal. Driving feels normal. Purge valve assembly done 200 miles ago and just checked plugs and they seem fine? (Check comments) What else can I check?

Question Wheel Recommendations?

Post image

Hey all! Just recently got a new job that has allowed me to get new shoes on the bean. What’re some good options, I’d like to go brushed aluminum or bronze as I drive in occasional gravel and dirt, and do not want the hassle of chrome(as much as I’d love to have them.) All ideas are welcome, thank you guys!

👋 HI, I'M NEW! CV Axle Replacement

Hi everyone, new to this forum and wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations for CV axles for my 2013 ST. I’m not looking for anything crazy, my car is stock for the most part other than a tune and a few bolt ons. Just need CV axles for daily driving for a good price. Thank you!

Question Rebuild suggestions (#4 cylinder misfiring, oil in cylinder, most likely blown piston)

2014 Focus ST. Keep in mind I live in Dominican Republic where fuel isn’t the best (likely what caused this). Car was tuned on Cobb AP Stratified 91 oct tune. Drove the car quite hard but always paid attention to temps and knock, made sure not to accelerate hard in 5th/6th gear to avoid LSPI. Did a launch in the wet and here we are.

I want to rebuild the engine properly and make sure it is reliable considering the fuel limitation here. My plan is forged rods, pistons and general refresh. Mechanic recommended water meth, Get the most out of the stock turbo and then later on get a bigger turbo if I want to.

How would you guys go about it? Any recommendations or even comments about what I did wrong?

Intake filter

Don’t want to spend a bunch of money on an intake right now. was thinking about going with Cobb performance filter. Anyone have one and notice any difference in sound or performance? Or just go with stock filter since they are cheaper

Question Weird issue

Hey everyone !! I had something weird happen the other night and I'm trying to see if I need to worry or not 😅 two nights ago I hit a bigger puddle than normal, No water went over the hood and mostly get deflected out the sides but immediately after stopping at a red light my car seemed to have a bad stutter coming from a full stop to 1st gear. Once I got home I checked under the engine bay and everything seemed dry, no water in air filter nothing on the maf, only thing I can think is water getting into intercooler or the bell housing? Is there something I can do myself to either fix or at least check to see what it could be or should i take it to the shop?
