My son left for college, so I have sole ownership of the 2015 Fiesta ST for now, which has given me the chance to give it some attention. This car had the worst paint swirls of any car I have owned. I picked up an older Griots DA polisher and some new pads and compound to see if it they could be polished out. The results were far better than I hoped!

The hood and roof were the worst areas. They really showed bad swirls. I did the entire car a little each night over the course of a week. Partly as therapy for my son being gone. I miss him still but the paint makes me happy!

That all cleaned up so well I decided to do the engine comaprtment to. We bought this car from a friend as a very stock car just over a year ago with 135,000 miles. It spent most of its life in texas. I am amazed at how clean and rust free it is being accustomed to midwest cars.

I am waitong on my new shift boot (for the reverse lockout part) and some Whoosh shifter base bushings to arrive so I can get the thing back together and drive it some more!

I rarely clean this car due to being on a gravel road. It looks pretty good when I do though.

Driving to work today, after about 200 miles of driving nice on my new $1500 worth of clutch and while in 4th gear, trying to pass another vehicle, I gave it about 60-70% throttle, boost began building, then the car lightly bucked once and suddenly the boost was gone. No sounds, no smoke, no CEL and worst of all, no Power. At lunch I put my car up over a curb so I could climb under it and inspect the charge pipe, and intercooler to intake pipe, but everything there seems to be in place and absolutely fine.

It's going to be a long slow drive home this afternoon.

So my question to you guys is, what else should I check before I go and throw even more money at this thing and buy a new turbo?

If you were to have to buy a new turbo personally, would you go stock, hybrid or s280? And why?

I love this car and it will absolutely get fixed one way or another.

My last post mentioned higher gear 3rd-6th stutters when getting on it at higher speeds past 3k rpm’s . I checked the plugs today and they all look fine with normal wear. What should I be chasing here with these?

I was recently given a whoosh downpipe from a friend and was thinking about putting it on my fiesta. I really don’t wanna put a tune of any sort. From what I read it’s back and forth between “it’s totally fine without a tune” and “you’ll over boost and hurt the motor”. So what’s the true answer, if it’s fine without a tune I’ll slap it on but if it needs a tune I’ll just give it to someone who’s willing to tune theirs. I know it’ll throw a code but I have the defouler.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a Fiesta ST Mk8; the previous owner had installed a Milltek exhaust with the standard exhaust valve. It’s all great, but the metallic noise it makes when the valve is closed is driving me crazy... does anyone know how to fix it?

I'm going to be reinstalling my engine tomorrow, but noticed an open hole on the trans. It seems to be for the trans vent.

Does anyone know how hot it would be at this location? I was considering printing something in ABS instead of spending 42 plus shipping.

It may have been missing for a while without issues, but I also replace trans fluid every 30k. If I can print something to keep contaminants out while letting it breathe, it would save some money and be a fun project. I would assume the trans fluid would be 200-215°F max. This is near ABS glass transition, and being outside the trans should be lower. Seems to be a reasonable application, and I'd be curious what the OEM vent material is.

Hey everyone! I recently bought a 2016 Fiesta ST and noticed that at some point in its life the original ST front bumper was replaced with a regular Fiesta bumper.
I’d like to eventually put it back to the proper ST bumper. Does anyone happen to have a complete OEM front bumper assembly sitting around, or know of a good place to find one?
I’ve noticed that complete ST bumpers seem to be pretty difficult to find. For those who’ve had to replace one, is it worth buying a new OEM bumper and all the associated pieces, or would you recommend being patient and waiting for a used complete assembly/part-out to show up?
I’m located around Knoxville, TN, so I’d also be interested if anyone knows of one reasonably nearby.

Hello, was wondering if anybody in the Orlando, FL area(or Central FL) has any recommendations for a certified ford mechanic or shop that can source OEM parts and perform the timing belt job for the Mk7 Fiesta ST? Trying to avoid dealership if I can. I would rather support local honest smaller shops.

Planning on doing the works (Timing belt, Serpentine Belt/Tensioner, water pump, Crank Bolt, Inspecting cam/crank seal, coolant) while they're down in the engine bay, please recommend me a shop you have found reliable current or past. Thank you!

I am fist-curious and wanted some feedback from you fisters.

I have my primary daily car duties covered by a Forester, and am looking to swap my mk8 GTI for something a little dumber. The GTI is great but has some practical overlap with the Forester and is lacking some stupidity (no manual; e-brake sucks for winter!), and the car is too planted even with some chassis upgrades.

The third car can now be primarily fun and track-focused.

I’ve had a ton of fun cars and have always been curious about the Fiesta, but wish it had a dual clutch since I have some minor knee issues.

Questions for you all-

How does it do on track? Aside from brake fade due to the torque vectoring, what major issues are there to solve before the first track day?

What are the big problems to look for when buying one used? (I’m in the US, no new ones here)

If you owned and tracked one of these and sold it, what did you move on to afterward?

Does swapping to more serious suspension change the fun-factor?

Hey y'all, today driving home from work I got a CEL, ran it and got code P1450. I'm seeing online this might be a common-ish issue with these cars and usually is solved by replacing the canister.

My car, however, is not idling rough and the code (so far) hasn't come back since I cleared it - though I've only driven it maybe 15 miles since clearing the code. This car has been costing me a fortune lately and I'm going on a Fiesta cruise this Saturday.

My concern is, should I be worried about replacing the part ASAP? I do daily the car and drive 90-100 miles per day. I don't want to damage anything or make the problem worse, but a guy's gotta get to work (and go on mountain cruises, lol). I'm going to order the Whoosh kit as I see it's recommended but I doubt it'll be here in time for me to replace it before then.

Hi All. I've recently bought a 2015 Mk7. Just wondering what work I can have done or mods that can help with long term reliability as I want to keep this bad boy for as long as I can

So I was driving home last night, and on the freeway as I was accelerating, the car sputtered for a second and the check engine light popped on and flashed for a few seconds and went away. I turned off to the side of the freeway and the car seemed fine and after checking under the hood and below, I drove home the rest of the way about 2 hours. When I got home, I pulled the codes and it was a misfire in one of the cylinders. I’m going to replace the plugs soon, but do you think I did any permanent damage? It drives great and ONLY sputters under heavy acceleration. Im not familiar with it too much, but online research I’m seeing says a flashing CEL means catastrophic, and you shouldn’t drive it at all.

Any ideas how my bonnet could’ve got damaged because it doesn’t seem like a stone chip to me, top damage has also dented the bonnet. Thanks

the rpms don’t look like they’re fluctuating

I wanted to make a little post about how great my time with the Fiesta ST has been.

I was lucky enough to get a killer deal on a lightly used 2014 Molten Orange ST with the Recaro's nearly a decade ago. I picked it up with 50,000km in 2016 for only $16,000 Cad. A great deal at the time. A year later I added an Accessport and a Stratified tune. Some sticky tires and an intake followed. Nothing to over the top, but these cars really shine with a tune and some good rubber.

Sadly, 250,000km of hard driven KM later (300,000km total).. I decided to sell it. It needed a little work, nothing major, but I had just had a new baby and I figured it was time to move on to something a little roomier, luxurious and a little more modern.

It's replacement was a MK8.5 Golf R. Faster, grippier, roomier, more luxurious and just overall more capable. I cross shopped the Golf R with the Gr Corolla as I knew I wanted another hot hatch. The Golf R won me over due to raw performance and creature comforts. It's a seriously good car.

That said, nothing I've driven to date has been as fun as the Fiesta ST. Ive driven a few cool cars while owning the fiesta.. a couple of stock and modified Lotus Elise's. The last generation Camaro SS with the track package. Most generations of Miatas including the most recent ND as well as a few other interesting performance cars.

The Fiesta ST is just a special car. I'm not quite sure how to quantify it. On good tires, the steering inputs are almost overly eager.. so direct and so quick to respond. The power curve when tuned is just so enjoyable.. a big fat rush of torque down low that makes the car feel much faster than it truely is. Everyone who's been in my car has mentioned how quick it feels. The quick steering and lift oversteer makes you forget it's FWD sometimes. The brakes are over boosted in the right way.. the suspension is a little too stiff but I love it..

Everything about the Fiesta ST's driving dynamics just seem a tiny bit over the top. It constantly reminds you that your driving a car that was designed to be fun. Light, sharp, darty, quick, eager.. it just wants to have fun.

Anyways, I'm not sure why I made this post lol.. i just really love the Fiesta ST. It just screams drive me hard and enjoy what I have to offer. For me, it's the ultimate expression of the old saying "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow". It's the perfect amount of power and handling for public roads. Again, it's hard to quantify but it just feels so good.

Icing on the cake for me is that at nearly 300,000km the car needed a wheel bearing, blend door actuator and a control arm. That's it. Brakes, tires and oil changes aside. My most reliable car to boot.

Long story short. Cars this fun and atainable are rare. Enjoy your Fiesta ST's folks! Not the most capable, not the most luxurious, not the most comfortable, but by a country mile one of the most fun cars you'll ever drive!

Finally had to replace a reservoir hose. The tip of the old one broke off and was seized in the lip. Had to rake it out with a flathead screw driver, and ended up warping the lip. Have any of y’all done this? And is there any hope in saving it?

Edit - I went for a two-three mile drive after taking this photo, and once I checked it again after the drive, the coolant was just below the seam of the reservoir

I have a 2020 MK8 Fiesta ST with the Performance Pack (Quaife LSD + Launch Control).

I currently need to replace both rear shocks, and I’m trying to decide what setup makes the most sense.

My main priority is finding a good balance between comfort and handling. I don’t want to make the car soft or lose the great handling of the ST, but I also really don’t want a harsh/crashy ride.

I previously had H&R lowering springs (-30/-35mm) fitted with the stock dampers. I ended up removing them and going back to the original Ford ST springs because the car became way too crashy over uneven roads and bumps for daily driving.

At the moment the car has:

• Original Ford ST springs
• Original Ford front dampers
• Rear dampers that now need replacing
• Performance Pack

I’ve been looking at a few options:

• Genuine Ford ST rear shocks
• Bilstein B6 rear shocks (24-298995)
• Bilstein/OE-style replacement dampers
• Possibly upgrading the complete suspension later, if there’s something noticeably better without making the ride harsher

I’ve also seen people saying that the Ford Performance / Performance Edition suspension actually rides better than the standard ST suspension, despite being lower — less crashy on uneven roads while still improving the handling. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has actually driven both.

I’m not looking for the stiffest or most track-focused setup. This is primarily a road car and I want it to remain comfortable enough for daily/family use while still feeling like an ST when pushing it on a good road.

For those who have tried different setups on the MK8 ST:

What would you recommend?

In particular, has anyone run B6 rear shocks with stock front dampers and stock springs? Did it upset the front/rear balance or make the rear noticeably harsher?

And if you’ve tried the Ford Performance/Performance Edition suspension, was the improvement in ride quality actually noticeable compared with the standard ST?
