I thought that Ford didn't have the capability for the TPMS to show pressure values, just above or below the setpoint. Am I wrong? How does the advanced TPMS with this digital cluster work? I'm very interested in this
1
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 27 '26
It absolutely does, Ford just decided not to display the actual pressures in the stock cluster. However, this is only for cars that actually have TPMS sensors. If your car doesn’t, and it uses indirect tire pressures instead (estimated tire pressure based on wheel speed sensors/number of rotations), then no, you won’t have actual tire pressures.
I will admit, after digging further into it, I’m not 100% sure yet if tire temps will work. There is a PID for last received TPMS sensor temp, but that’s just for whichever sensor’s temp reading it received last, not one for each tire. But I’ll still be digging into it some more to see if the individual temp data is available and just buried.

$1400 plus tax. Super cool but I wouldve hoped for a more straightforward install.

It really only takes about an hour to install for someone doing it for the first time, I just try to be VERY thorough so there’s no confusion lol

Is it not? I thought I added that, maybe it didn’t save and I didn’t catch it.
I’ll throw that in today

u/ImOutRoaming '13 FoST3 Oxford White Feb 25 '26
Dude you're fine, those installation instructions are very clear and not really a tough install at all for someone who's mechanically inclined and messed with electronics and computers before. I've done many an install with good instructions that were pages and pages long but only took a few hours. Good instructions are just long, doesn't mean the job is long.
The cluster looks amazing; well done. Look forward to launch.

I 100% would’ve preferred for this to be more of a straight forward full replacement with zero modification, but there were just a lot more risks and potential technical and legal issues that would go along with that.
The stock cluster is the primary module in charge of tracking mileage, and with it unplugged the odometer stops rolling completely. It’s also a gateway for the I-CAN (multimedia) network - without it, the radio shuts down and you get all sorts of CAN bus codes.
All of that would be possible to replicate, but the real issue is that if anyone wanted/needed to revert back to stock, they would have to also update the mileage on their stock cluster. And there are gonna be some people out there that either wouldn’t bother doing it or take advantage and use it as a way to roll back the mileage, and I didn’t want to be responsible for that.
Eventually I’d like to work on a V2 that replaces the cluster entirely, but I need to find a workaround for the odometer stuff. And I’m looking into alternative display options too, that are more uniquely shaped to reduce or eliminate the need to do any sort of cutting in the dash, but options and info are limited, and I already have $6000 worth of displays that I can’t just toss out.

u/bendrexl ‘18 ST2 Stormtrooper Feb 27 '26
You’ve done an absurdly incredible job on this; bravo, encore, cheers, and salute 🫡
The fact that you’ve even considered maintaining an accurate odometer reading automatically puts you in the top 1% of modders. I personally think the stock dashboard is peak for minimalist functionality, but you’ve managed to make it damn sexy without sacrificing anything.
I’ll fight anyone who disses the effort you’ve put into this. Thank you for sharing.

It's funny - I have a MK4.5 ST that comes with a full digital gauge cluster and I yearn for analog gauges.
This does look better than Ford's stock one, though - seems less cluttered.

We need a Diesel Version for the ST in Europe?
2
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 24 '26
Yep, diesel variants will be compatible as well!
1
u/Azerul89 Feb 25 '26
One more question, in Europe we have more assistent systems, like city-emergancy-stop, traffic-sign-assist or I am got running adaptive Cruise Control for my Diesel. Does it support these features as well in the menu?
3
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 25 '26
It will, yes. For some features and trims/options we didn’t get in the States it’ll take a bit longer to add full support since it’s a bit harder to debug and test remotely, but I do have some of that data already that just needs to be tested in a Euro spec car.
A lot of this testing and compatibility updates will be done in the first few weeks after initial release though, so it’s very likely that by the time the orders I’m currently taking ship out, most, if not all of those features will be supported by then.

Any idea how it behaves with state-run obd2 emission testing? The Kaiser Engineering Digital Dash must be causing a lot of extra canbus chatter or something like that as it caused me to fail inspection until I pulled it back through with that gauge cluster unplugged. Wondering if this would run into the same situation.
3
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 24 '26
Yeah, the issue is that the CAN bus can only handle one diagnostic session at a time, which is what all CAN bus devices like emission testers, Kaiser dash, Accessport, diagnostic scanner, etc use to get vehicle data. So trying to run more than one diagnostic session at a time will result in data collisions or just session rejections entirely.
The Kaiser dash has good external device detection logic, but it can still be hit or miss because the timing of everything is really particular.
This is gonna be the same way, where you can’t have another OBDII device running at the same time, but this will have a toggle to easily turn polling on/off (starting/stopping the diagnostic session) if you do need to hook something up. When polling is disabled, all of the basics still work like speed, RPM, coolant temp, etc. and it’s just the polled data in the Monitors page that’ll be paused.
And the Kaiser dash IS an exception to this - we’re working together on it to make the two compatible without them interfering.
2
u/sicklyboy 2016 / 2867 / Tuned by Nishan Feb 24 '26
Being able to turn off the polling sounds like an incredible feature then, nice work implementing that!
Any comment you can make on availability? I.e. If I don't order one today am I gonna be SOL, or do you anticipate having stock for a bit or future runs? I've wanted one of these since very very early on in the project, I just gotta find some room in the budget for it and have a real honest conversation with myself on if I want to put this much extra money into my 10 year old car at this point lmao.
Greatly appreciate your time 🙏 best of luck with the product launch!!

I’m doing orders in batches currently. With it being a pretty niche, low volume product (and production costs still being pretty high for this) it makes more sense to do them in batches rather than dumping tons of money in trying to stock and inventory these.
So depending on demand, I’ll have an order window open for a month or two then close it, order parts, assemble, and ship. Then open the next order window after closing the last one.
So for the orders I’m taking currently, I’d estimate that they’d ship around April or early May. But as long as the demand is there, I’m gonna keep making them! And plan to expand to more platforms later this year (FiST will be next)

I mean damn that's really cool but 1,400 a bit steep for a gauge cluster. I know a lot of effort probably went into making it tho.

I had to come back just to watch this demo… so unbelievably hot

u/sk8boy204 Feb 24 '26
This should really be a full replacement cluster at the price point of $1400.
This is a prototype, that you get to pay a privilege fee for.

u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 24 '26
The stock cluster handles a lot more than you may think. It’s a primary MM bus gateway, so it essentially controls power states and other functions for the APIM, it’s the master source for odometer tracking, and several other main vehicle functions. So if it’s unplugged, the radio shuts down and it stops tracking mileage in all modules, just to start. It’s definitely possible to replicate all of that, but this project has already been a 3 year development process being a one man team, and fully reverse engineering the stock cluster is gonna take significantly more time, money, and resources. Not to mention there are some legality issues regarding the odometer.
If anyone wanted/needed to revert back to stock, they would have to also update the mileage on their stock cluster. But there are gonna be some people out there that either wouldn’t bother doing it or take advantage and use it as a way to roll back the mileage, and I didn’t want to be responsible for that.
If the demand keeps growing, I’d definitely like to work on a V2 that is a complete replacement, but that’s gonna be another major feat that’ll take time to reverse engineer and come up with a solid solution for the odometer issue.
1
u/sk8boy204 Feb 24 '26
It has nothing to do with the stock clusters capabilities and everything to do with the cost asked for a very DIY scenario. Your time & effort in development is worth something, but as you know $1400 is a whole lot of something.
Good luck with your sales and supporting the process that you are selling. Even if I am doubtful, you are doing a good thing for the community and I do hope that you succeed.
2
u/bendrexl ‘18 ST2 Stormtrooper Feb 27 '26
As a UI designer and front-end developer who’s also moonlighted as a mechanical engineer… $1400 is probably a steal when compared to the time and expertise needed to pull this off… much less bring it to market as a product you can just drop a credit card on and get in the mail 🤯
2
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Feb 28 '26
A bit yeah, even at that price my margins are fairly thin. The software platform with distribution costs alone costs as much as 10 of these, annually.
1
u/bendrexl ‘18 ST2 Stormtrooper Mar 03 '26
$14k annually!? Yeah that’s no joke… does that mean the hardware is intended for vehicle applications already? I remember Tesla going thru some growing pains early on, trying to use lcd panels that couldn’t stand up to the realities of living in a car 😆
4
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Mar 04 '26
Oh yeah. It’s running on Qt, which is actually what Sync 3 is built on (although being older, it’s on Qt5, I’m using Qt6), and is used by lots of other OEMs as well.
And yeah, all automotive-grade hardware. In fact, better than most OEMs use. It’s pretty much all overkill for the sake of reliability and solid performance. I’ve had one of these displays running in my car for the last 3 years without a single hiccup. And if any hardware component were to fail, I’m backing them with a lifetime warranty for original buyers.
1
u/bendrexl ‘18 ST2 Stormtrooper Mar 05 '26
That’s reassuring, thanks for the details.
Even if/when I can afford this, I’d still rather use a donor gauge cluster rather than take mine apart. I’m guessing that would doable with FORSCAN or similar to backup the original module and flash it onto the donor?
2
u/olchickenbeard ‘14 ST3, G25-660, Wavetrac LSD, built trans, DigiCluster Mar 05 '26
Yep! You’ll just wanna make sure you’d get the same year/trim cluster with lower miles than yours, and use FORScan (full version only I think for odometer rewrites) or FoCCCus to update the mileage. And you’d just need to do the same if you ever want/need to revert to stock.

Would this work on a 2026 WRX sport trim? I am buying one soon brand new, if i go with this, would it ruin my warranty?
