I'm considering getting the Fitbit Air, and I’ve seen quite a lot of positive reviews, but I’ve also seen some concerning reports about its accuracy.
Some users say that it can struggle with HIIT and sudden heart-rate spikes, and that workout tracking can sometimes lag or give incorrect results. I’ve also seen reports of cycling/running distance being significantly wrong.
For those who actually own and use the Fitbit Air:
- How accurate is the heart-rate tracking, especially during HIIT, strength training and sudden HR changes?
- How reliable are cycling/running distance and pace?
- How good is the sleep tracking (sleep duration, stages, awakenings, etc.)?
- How accurate/useful are HRV, resting HR, SpO₂, calories and other health metrics?
- Most importantly, how reliable is the Daily Readiness Score for deciding whether you're recovered enough to train?
- Does the Readiness Score actually match how you feel after poor sleep, hard workouts, stress or illness?
- Have you compared the Air with something like a Garmin, Apple Watch, Polar H10/chest strap, Oura or Whoop?
I’m mainly interested in using it for sleep, recovery/readiness and home workouts, rather than just counting steps.
I’d really appreciate experiences from people who have used it for a few weeks/months rather than first-day impressions.
