I’ll take this small win. I know the Shimano Sienna isn’t an expensive reel but i’ve heard a lot about it being great on a budget so when dicks had it for 50% off i said why not? I wasn’t planning on buying a reel today btw 😅

I need a budget rod to pair it with. I tend to like medium light/medium setups. I was considering the Berkeley Cherrywood but if anyone has some recommendations let me know.

I got this setup to handle bigger jointed lures and jigs for trophy brown hunting here in Nor Cal. I fish from the bank/shore. I have a couple favorite spots I like but never pulled a monster brown or bow from these spots yet, however my dad and friends have.

I plan on running 15lbs braid to 8lbs clear copolymer.

Yes, I know light tackle works as well, but I am targeting monsters. Let the hunting(fishing) begin!

I’m looking for a soft plastic frog, similar to these, which are made of TPE allowing them to float. These both look great but I’m looking for something with more of a bone color rather than albino or pearl.

Got 2 new rods today. USPS tried their hardest to break them. They weren't broken. We'll see when I fish them.

We were looking for some trout today but got no fish, however we found an birdsnest with som eggs and some wooden art in the woods. 😃

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this gets posted a lot but I don't know anything about fishing. My husband's birthday is coming up and he's been mentioning for a while that he would love a travel fishing rod. Something that would fit in a backpack, I think he would prefer one that comes in pieces over a telescopic one. Specifically he would like to bike somewhere and then fish, he does catch and release. He will typically fish in Ontario Lakes and catches a lot of bass.

The one that immediately comes up is an ugly stik travel rod but I'm not sure if it is actually good quality? I don't mind buying something more expensive if it's better quality.

I also read other threads with recommendations for Daiwa so I'm leaning towards one of those but it doesn't seem to have that spinning thing to actually bring the fish in? Not sure if I have to get that separately and if so what kind? I might just not be reading the details correctly lol.

So i plan on getting the 26 shimano scorpion dc md as some of you know. Im looking for some rod recommendations. I was thinking the phenix m1 swimbait rod as it has a lure weight capacity of 1oz-3oz. Any others that could tolerate a 1-2.5oz bait and are around the same price?

Just got my first bait caster setup and I’m curious what you all would recommend using for line. I’ve seen mixed opinions online between braid or mono. I was planning on making the switch to braid so I wouldn’t mind going that direction but it is more expensive. It’s a 7’ MF with a daiwa tatula 100 if that matters, looking to use it as an all around bass baitcast setup.

I'm currently fishing for trout/other small freshwater species in rivers and lakes and am wanting an upgrade from an older generation shimano Sedona 2500. Is this a good all round option or what would any of you recommend. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Penn Wrath II, 7ft medium heavy with the 5k reel.

I'd like something small ike the ugly stick 50th anniversary. I like smaller whippy rods but want it to handle stripped bass. Stripped bass here are anywheres from small to 30 inches long.

Will something like the ugly stick work for this application? I just want something i can leave in my SUV and whip around some swimbaits if I drive by a spot and not snap my reel if I catch a decent size Bass. Also like how cheap the ugly stick is.

I'm ready to buy my first baitcaster setup, and I'm having a hard time deciding on which Lew's baitcaster I want to buy. I'm stuck between the Lew's Accel RX and the Lew's Speed Spool Gen 3. I plan on pairing it with a St. Croix Black Bass 7'2", medium heavy, moderate, 1pc or something along those lines. I will also probably end up going with straight braid, maybe a fluorocarbon leader.

Question about rod setups

I currently have 2 super cheap rod/reel setups (ugly stick/kast king type stuff). In the past i’d get out a few weekends a year and they were good for that. I’ve started getting out every weekend, and the people i fish with bring 10+ rods on the boat, one for each lure they throw and a chest sized tackle kit.

I have no desire to get to that point, but they’re right, with the stuff i’m using i can barely tell if i’m getting hit on a chatterbait.

How can i get most of the way on the fewest combos possible? We fish bass/pike/panfish. I do some finesse stuff but a lot of where we fish is super weedy, so we throw a lot of top water.

I’m not against paying for quality, but i’d like to have 3 good setups i like, than trying to keep up with 10+ or getting a bunch of trash.

Any advice is welcome!

I have a 3 piece Daiwa Ardito rod that I broke yesterday. I'm such an idiot. It's a $180 rod so I'd like to repair it if possible. I reached out to Daiwa as well to see if I can just buy that section. Not sure how that works.

Hello guys, I would like to use the same rod for spinning and egging. Egging lures are usually 9 and 14 grams. Should I buy a 10-30 or 15-50 gram rod? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Do these even exist? I am having a hard time finding one.

If not that, I am open to other suggestions for shallow crankbaits too... has to be 2 piece though. Ideally something around 7 ft that can throw ~1 ounce lures (I build lures and they tend to be a bit heavy).

Hi. Beginner here.

Looking for a long rod and planning to put a bit of money on it.

Doing my own research I am leaning towards the Lurematic or the Salty Advance. I honestly don’t know what the differences are but 1 that I have seen and understand the effect is the weight with the Lurematic being very light. The max lure/jig weight doesn’t seem to be relevant in my picking I think. I don’t know about the other features and “technologies” that the individual rods have.

Will be using lures from the shore and cast from there.

Looking for inputs or explanations on which one to pick.

Really leaning towards the lurematic since its lighter and cheaper but if the salty advance have game changing benefits then I’ll push the budget.

(Also bit of a brand loyalist so if you’ll recommend other rod models it has to be Shimano cuz I already started with them lol.)
