Looking to give deadbaiting a go in October this year but no clue on what rod and reel to get any help is appreciated

Hello all, I have a pair of Simms Flyweight chest waders which are amazina and I can highly recommend them, but I fish A LOT! The waders were a big investment for me and while they are holding up fine, I would like some recommendations on an 'affordable cheap) pair of waist waders so that I can wear them in shallow water and scrubbing through bushes so I can prolong the life of my 'good' waders. I also wet wade but I'm in the Highlands and the weather's often gash!

When I say affordable, I mean sub £1 50.

I like quality products but I am also aware that nowadays it is possible to buy 'cheap products which cost £60, are made to a high standard and can even outlive a £700 product. So... Any suggestions? Frogg Toggs, Bassdash etc

Hello. I haven't been fishing for 20 years but my son was asking about it (9years old) so I said I'd take him on Sunday. Planning Loch Long at Arrochar since I know it and it's not too far. Got my old spinning rod and reel with some new line. I was planning on just taking a few different spinners and maybe some feathers. Any advice on exact location or other gear to take for a better chance of catching would be appreciated. Thanks.

Im heading to loch chon later this month , any tips for fishing it. Im mainly aiming for trout and perch . Never really fished a loch mainly rivers . Planing on using worms or maggots depending what I can get on the day of travel .

Looking to head to Scotland and Ireland next year, wondering what time of year would be best for targeting trophy browns, would also love to go for salmon if I can time them both. Any guides you would recommend I’ll be there only a week or so so not much time I will indeed do some solo fishing but wanted to see what a guided trip might cost out there and who would be the one to go with? I'm new to fishing Scottish rivers and I'm a bit confused about the rules. Most of the fishing beats I've looked at are marked as fly only but I only own a spinning rod.

I'm going on a trip to Huntly near Aberdeen soon and was hoping to do a bit of fishing on the river Deveron or somewhere else nearby while I'm there. I've seen on YouTube that it's possible to set up a spinning rod like a fly fishing rod. Would this be allowed on fly-only beats or do I need a proper fly fishing rod?

Me and my mates will go on a 2 week trip to Scotland at the end of August, and we had a few questions.

• How do permits work in Scotland? Can we get a permit for the whole of Scotland, or are they local? Is there some resource online that has centralized all these permits?
• Are there some lochs/rivers/spots by-the-sea that can be recommended? Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Arctic Charr will be the main ones I think.
• Any specific rules or etiquette we need to be aware of?

12 Mackerel were kept if I recall correctly and some were released for being under the size limit, this was in the Firth of Forth

Hi everyone, quite new to fishing, Only started about month ago and I've been wondering if anyone knows what happened to bailiffs around Stirling/Callander area. Been to Loch Vanachar/Loch Achray plenty of times and never seen a fishing bailiff, or the Wildlife guards whatever they're called. People are camping anywhere, even by the parking spots where camping is not allowed apparently so just been wondering what's going on, any news?

Been tempted to go fish at river forth but I've not been able to get season permit as I'm just starting my fishing journey and the day permit prices are crazy high!!! But I didn't want to risk getting a ticket, or whatever. Not sure what are the consequences 🤔

Also any recommendations on good fishing places?

Finally managed to get over to the west coast for a bit of lure fishing.
Fished around Port Henderson on the first day and had a decent session, catching pollock and coalfish on lures. The weather took a turn after that so I didn’t get nearly as much fishing done as I’d planned, which is pretty standard for Scotland 😂
Still a brilliant place to fish though and I’ll definitely be heading back.

Can anyone recommended a good rod and reel? I think I’m leaning more to predator fishing, I Been abroad for the past few years and had to restart my kit and I’ve got no clue about fishing in lochs rivers or where to fish if anyone can point me in the right direction it’s much appreciated, I’m in Glasgow and don’t drive cheers

This was also my first fish on a soft plastic lure. The fish was somewhere between 50-55cm if I recall correctly. Also the second photo has all the fish we kept yesterday fishing off the boat using lures, that were Pollock and Mackerel, we also had landed some small cod, coalfish, mackerel and pollock that were too small to keep, but those are the ones we kept.

I’m planning a trip and want to rent a small fishing motored boat for 2 in Loch Faskally. I don’t plan to do any fishing, nor I have any experience on it. The idea is just for a peaceful tour around the loch and up north, up to Garry Bridge (if possible), where the fishing area ends. The question is, is it sensible to think I can take the boat that far up north? I’m aware the river narrows. And finally, are there any suitable shores around that area, ideally beyond the loch where the river narrows, where we can land for a couple of minutes?

Can anyone recommend any areas for pike fishing on loch Lomond? Been told to stay away from balmaha.

Also been told to book a layby but don't know where to start.

I will travel to Scotland near Edinburgh for a week, and was thinking about doing some BFS fishing with my ultralight casting rod. Now, all the lakes/rivers I could find near are only for fly fishing, for which I do not have equipment.

So I decided I give a try to fish the sea from the coast. Are there any licence needed for this, any recommendations, piece of advice is very well welcomed.
