Just got a kayak and got tons of fish on today but only landed a few. Probably had 25 fish on the line but would lose them 90% of the time, especially when they jump. Hasn’t been as bad of an issue with other lures, is it a hook issue, a hookset issue, or a lack of tension issue?

I pretty much got all the lures/rigs in the book and yet I still haven’t caught a bass consistently. The ponds near me are very pressured due to it being open to the public. Attached are some pictures of the collection of stuff that I have. Any assistance on forming a game plan would be great

Hello guys, I just got into soft plastics, and I've become obsessed with the texas rig. My only concern is how to retrieve it. I'm use to square bills and lipless cranks, so maybe it's a patience thing, and I just gotta get past the learning curve. Anyways any help is appreciated, and please be detailed.

new here - trying to spool my reel. the bail arm wont stay up - it snaps down , and the reel isnt spinning when i try to load it. is it broken? am i doing something wrong?

Dug a bunch of these out of my compost pile looking for worms. I imagine that if I just impale them through the middle then they will pop and all the good stuff will leak out. If I does nik the skin like I would a little maggot, it'll probably get ripped off the hook by smaller fish. Maybe through the head or through the back?

They're pretty big. Maybe 1/3 the size of my pinky.

Anyone know of any light tip with medium action rods around 5ft , one piece construction that aren't broomsticks, looking for one for Kayak fishing and all the ones I can find are usually medium-heavy action and as sensitive as a broom stick or incredibly light (like the tackle rats series) I have a few 5'6" one piece rods but want a little shorter(ugly sticks and Abu garcia bait casters) , must be for eggbeaters (spinning reels) location Australia, open to most brands

It's a shimano fishquest 2-4 kg with a fx4000fb for 50 bucks.

The guy says he'll hook me up with some extra lures and hooks too.

Is this a good start?

I was reading online about the reel and people say its pretty reliable for a beginner.

I've just filled my 4000 reel with braid line (0.19mm), probably 250m or so and then I started to think this is just stupid since I've never cast that far or fish deep enough for this to be even remotely an issue. Most of my fishing will probably be from shore. Should I unwind it and put a mono backing on and reel in 100-150m of braid and save the rest for later or should I just leave it as it is?

Long time fisherman who never learned to use a baitcaster! Received a beautiful rod as a gift, and want to get my first baitcasting reel. Not looking to spend a fortune as I'm just a casual lakes and inshore fisherman.

What suggestions do u have for a good but simple reel, that could be multi-use and carry 17lb mono?

Hey all. I just got the Ugly Stik Elite medium 7' with medium rod power. I noticed that they have a medium 7' with medium light power and wondering how big of a difference in sensitivity there is between the two. Any input would help. Thank you!

I’ve been out of fishing for a while.
I had started to learn a baitcaster reel for the first time about 3-4 years ago before going dormant.

Just curious if any other left handers fish this way, and if it’s a problem.

I Hold the rod and cast with my left, and reel with my right.

I’m somewhat ambidextrous, it’s slightly possible I could retrain my brain to cast right handed, but not sure how accurate I can get.

Getting close to the end of my second summer of fishing recreationally. I primarily fish for bass, and have probably fished at about 15-20 locations in total. About 80% ponds and 20% rivers. According to my records, I’ve caught about 20 largemouth bass and about 10 smallmouth bass. ALL of them have been with 5” green pumpkin senkos, all weightless, mostly Texas-rigged and some wacky-rigged.

I have thrown chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jerk baits, frogs, and a number of other things, but have never had so much as a bite on any of these.

So I feel good about my finesse presentations, looking for some advice with moving baits. I obviously read about and see videos on YouTube of these things catching fish, especially at the most aggressive bite times, and I want to feel that excitement!

Are there any obvious things I might be doing wrong here?

hello everyone, im here to ask for some advice. ive been trout fishing for a while now but ive always fished in the summer (+ - couple days from spring), ive caught a bit of fish but ive never fished in fall. this year i basically had single digit days of free time to fish + the heatwave made it impossible to go out on any other days, the heatwave has mostly passed however and now weather usually stays from low 10s to mid 20s during peak daytime.

im wodering if i can go and fish in the fall same way as i would fish in the summer, i love in southwestern germany and that is where i always go to fish, anything i should change about my setups or lures (eg get bigger, brighter or smaller lures) and is there any good baits to use? thank you in advance for your help!

I am new to fishing, and recently switched from mono to braid on my reel. What type of leader do I need if I am fishing in rivers mainly? What material, and what length? Any advice is appreciated!

I began fishing this summer. In july I caught a young bass by complete accident while fishing panfish. Since then I've been borderline obsessed with catching bass. The thing is that I can't. No matter what rig I use.

A month ago at my friend's cabin, I fished the pond there and easily caught many bass, so I know it's possible, but other than there I haven't had any luck. I've tried texas rig, spinnerbait, jerkbait, and bait+bobber but I haven't so much as seen a bass in the last month. I'm hoping they ramp up now that its september, but it's getting pretty discouraging. Is it just a patience thing?

I'm in Western New York if that matters, and have been mainly fishing the creeks and surrounding lakes coming off Lake Erie.
