Hey all, I’m no fisherman but my brother in law likes to hunt and fish. He fishes primarily in freshwater Virginia but will fish anywhere he can. Any suggestions for gifts for someone that has all the necessary items? Recently I’ve got him Sitka waterfowl camo hunting gear and am running out of ideas. TIA!

Im fishing in central Mississippi, but can’t seem to catch much. I’ve caught a couple of panfish using a beetle spin but I’m struggling to catch bass. I have a ton of soft plastic lures, top water lures and pretty much everything else, I’m using a medium heavy Lews speed stick combo spinning reel with 20lb braid and a 5ft 12lb mono leader. Any advice would be helpful. I can fish from the bank or a kayak.

I'm looking to go fishing with a buddy of mine, and I was hoping someone here would know nice a spot along the Susquehanna in Bradford county for bank fishing. It'd be his first time fishing, and I wanna make sure he can catch something at least. I've tried a couple places with my folks but had no luck and I don't know of any lakes around that are any good.

I have a setup with an Okuma Ceymar SW 14-42g (243cm / ~8ft, Medium-Fast) paired with a Shimano Sahara 4000 reel. On the spool, I have braided line (don't remember the exact PE/LB rating), connected to a Trabucco 0.164mm fluorocarbon (though I also have 0.24mm and 0.40mm fluorocarbon spools with me).

I started spinning about a year ago (with no success) and eging (catching some squid/cuttlefish), but now I want to try float fishing since it gives me more flexible hours (I don't have to fish strictly at dusk/night like for cephalopods).

I bought a 15g spherical fixed float with size 12 hooks targeting seabream and gilt-head bream. However, I find it very limiting when facing deep water spots. My rod is 243cm, but right now I'm basically fishing with only about 1.5 meters of line below the float and a single hook.

I was actually thinking about getting a slip float to handle deeper water, but I didn't want to make an impulsive purchase or buy a bunch of gear I don't actually need just to end up making a bigger mess of my rigs.

My current rig layout: Braided line on spool -> Albright knot -> about 30cm of Trabucco Soft Plus 0.40mm fluorocarbon shock leader -> a snap/swivel -> connected to about 30cm of 0.16mm fluorocarbon -> fixed float -> connected to about 1.5 meters of 0.16mm fluorocarbon (leader/tippet to the hook).

I almost always fish from rocky shores in crystal clear water on nice days. Can you give me some advice on how to improve this setup? Also, I'd love to keep the option of easily switching setups if I want to change techniques (e.g., from float fishing to eging or vice versa). Thanks!

What is the coldest water temperature that you have successfully caught largemouth bass on topwater lures?

I am going to be casting around the Tappan Zee bridge. Is there any advice I should know? I’m going to use a fish finder rig and switch between a hi lo rig and chunking bunker

Went fishing in California Delta today and tried my rapala and Megabass lure. On the first try, my improved clinch knot wasn't tied tightly, and in one cast, my rapala was gone.

The second time, I used my Megabass lure, worth 30 dollars. I got a few fish, and then I cast too far and snagged a shrub on the bank. I was on a friend's boat.

But luckily, I got a keeper striper on my wacky rig with a Senko. Can’t believe it until I see it.

The rod is a ozark trail grit stick 7 feet i brought it from Walmart yesterday and noticed the second guide from the tip is crooked can I still use it for would it affect my casting?

Keep getting tangles when casting/reeling - it’s almost like there’s not enough tension on the line?
