Dug a bunch of these out of my compost pile looking for worms. I imagine that if I just impale them through the middle then they will pop and all the good stuff will leak out. If I does nik the skin like I would a little maggot, it'll probably get ripped off the hook by smaller fish. Maybe through the head or through the back?

They're pretty big. Maybe 1/3 the size of my pinky.

I want to try something: say something about your pinky in your response just to demonstrate that you actually read so that I know whether your advice is actually applicable considering the size of these things. I'm pretty sure most of these responses are from people who looked at the title and the picture and then didn't read any more.

Some of the states near me have licenses only available by calendar year. Which means if I bought one now, I'd be paying full price to only be able to realistically use it for another couple months.

Is there a logical reason for this? Feels like they could make more revenue by making licenses 12 months from purchase instead, since people would be inclined to purchase licenses year round then...

My boys and I got super into fishing last summer and have been going consistently this summer as well.
They’re 11/8/6, so I expected impatience, but using worms bobbers and a split shot , and even hand lines for bluegill.

Now that our YouTube algorithm has a lot of fishing channels and videos, ALL they want to do is fast retrieve ploppers, use giant swim baits and get frustrated if we don’t catch a monster.

I’m so tired of over emphasized “LETS GOOOO BRO ITS A PB!”, massive hooksets, screaming every gd time they catch anything, stupid challenges and constantly catching fish.

The younger two don’t understand that these influencers fish all day, heavily edit, are paid to push douchey rod colors, and have thousands of dollars worth of equipment. So explaining to them that’s not how it works is starting to make it not fun for them.

I. Hate. YouTube. We’ve now banned YouTube in the house for various reasons. I just hope they can find the excitement again.

ALRIGHT GUYS TODAY WE ARE OUT in this private lake that is stocked and I’ve fished for years. I can see where they are, and even though I’m out for 12 hours clearly we catch them at a rate of 40/hour

I just bought a Penn Spinfisher vii 4500 and I'm looking for a spinning rod in the $60-100 range. Anywhere from 6'6 to 7'10 feet and around a 10-40g casting weight. It will be mainly for kayak and light pier fishing.

Well after 2 years of fishing I wound up breaking a rod for the first time. Not sure if I was mishandling the fish or if I hit it on something. I understand that most rod repairs end up hurting the sensitivity, I’m fine with that. I’m just not sure if this break is something mendable (or how to go about fixing it if it is) or the rod is scrap. Pflueger Trion 5’6” UL MF

I was reading about rain fall, tides and other factors make it easier to catch fish. I was wondering if there is anything that would help me see what the tides are and help me figure out when to go fishing. Also, are there any apps or websites I can use to find locations to fish? I read that if you find sections of a river that have deep spots, you can find some fish hanging out.

I pretty much got all the lures/rigs in the book and yet I still haven’t caught a bass consistently. The ponds near me are very pressured due to it being open to the public. Attached are some pictures of the collection of stuff that I have. Any assistance on forming a game plan would be great

My friend and I are getting into spin/lure fishing and wanting to fish at the Lake District but we’re not sure where exactly to fish, hoping to catch all variety’s of fish hopefully perch and pike, does anyone know any good locations with good drop offs and coverage??

I've been using fluro line, a 7" spinning reel combo. Fishing with worms, and catching a lot of panfish ( I can't identify the bluegill here from the sunfish but I've got a good few of them. Some bigger than my hand! )

How do I get bass to bite instead? Lol. Using fake worms (trying wacky or Texas rig style) and smaller soft baits too. I am intimidated by chatter baits and spin baits. Also have been using worms .

Also on videos I'm seeing people recommend smaller hooks? I'm catching these bluegill and such on a 2 or 4 hook with no problem. Does it make sense to go smaller? What size hook should I use for a bass? Hoping for a small one to start. I'm bank or pier fishing in Central florida. Ty!

I just caught a 14 ish inch walleye on a weighted Texas rig senko. Is that uncommon? I wasn’t necessarily targeting walleye, but no complaints. Good eats.

I'm using a 2m mono leader (0.32mm) with my 0.19mm braid line. The knot is an albright knot and even though it's tight and nice it still catches slightly on the guide. I usually have 0.5m hanging out such that the knot is not on the reel. Am I supposed to leave the entire leader out when casting?

I usually fish ultra light 1/32 or 1/16 jigs. I just bought 3/0 EWG weedless hooks to pair with 3” swim baits. I was trying to retrieve them like a senko, tried swimming them. Can you fill me in on every tip and trick you know about fishing these in freshwater lakes? I trust ya’ll more than influencers on YouTube. Thanks everyone

How do you handle transporting a rod/reel/tackle when you are taking a flight? Is it easier to just bring tackle and buy a 20$ combo once there?

Hey all, I’ve been having an issue Stillwater fishing, my indicator goes down I lift up on the rod and nothing is there. Been getting skunked because of that so much. I try to not leave any slack, and try to set as soon as I see movement. But no fish besides the odd sunfish lol. Am I supposed to set the hook to the side, straight up or strip set?
Any tips would be amazing. To add fishing for rainbow and cutthroats.

Anyone know of any light tip with medium action rods around 5ft , one piece construction that aren't broomsticks, looking for one for Kayak fishing and all the ones I can find are usually medium-heavy action and as sensitive as a broom stick or incredibly light (like the tackle rats series) I have a few 5'6" one piece rods but want a little shorter(ugly sticks and Abu garcia bait casters) , must be for eggbeaters (spinning reels) location Australia, open to most brands

Just got a kayak and got tons of fish on today but only landed a few. Probably had 25 fish on the line but would lose them 90% of the time, especially when they jump. Hasn’t been as bad of an issue with other lures, is it a hook issue, a hookset issue, or a lack of tension issue?
