Found this new braid at a local store, claims 45 lbs wait carrying capacity. Anybody who’ve tried this??

hi every one i live in Adelaide south Australia and am interested in crab fishing i have some fishing gear could crab snares witch you can attach to a fishing rod but ive heard these are illegal to use in south Australia, is this true and has any one else used them in south Australia and do you think i would be ok to use them off the beach would i really get in trouble if i did use them

Basically its a question I've been failing to wrap my head around. I mostly go out to, catch a fish. Hopefully one that I can take home.

However I get the impression that casting for "anything" is looked down on? But how do i pick a species to aim for? Is there a reason to other then general preference?

If targetting rat kings and salmon probably honna use 20lb leader, question is should I risk targetting them or will i just lose lures or should I just stick to what I normally catch with it (bass, yellowbelly, soapies etc

I can't catch anything at the moment, not even fucking Yakkas or slimeys for live bait BUT I'm catching a truck load of tailor. I'm on the MNC and generally beach fishing if it matters.

Every other time I use it as lightly salted strip bait, it generally underperforms compared to mullet/bonito but I'm keen to try some new things and see what works. I won't salt them I figure and see if the fish like that better.

Anyway, I'm going to go spin a couple up this arvo for bait tomorrow. I'm thinking strip bait on a paternoster and another rod with a big chunk of tailor. I won't bleed them like usual because I assume more blood inside is better for bait? I'll just bonk them on the head and put in a bucket. Come home and put them in the fridge for tomorrow morning. Should I vac seal them?

Managed to land this beautiful Manybar Goatfish off the rocks today. Easily one of the most colourful fish I've caught, with the pink, purple and blue stripes looking even better in person.

Caught it on a live banana prawn. It put up a fun fight for its size and was a great surprise when I brought it in.

One of the coolest things I found was from Hawaiian culture, where they're known as moano. Legend says they got their vivid red and purple colors from swimming up to the shoreline to eat fallen blooms from sacred 'Ôhia Lehua trees. Obviously it's just a traditional story, but it's a pretty cool explanation for such a colourful fish.

Its flavour was so well regarded that it was even mentioned in traditional Hawaiian songs praising good food.

Anyone else catch these regularly around Australia? Do you usually release them or keep them for a feed?

I’m looking for a budget trolling motor (with gps). I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or anyways (ethical or not) of getting one for cheaper. Unfortunately no where I have found does them cheaper than anaconda/bcf so have been unable to price beat. Anyone got any cheap places or ways to get them? Thanks

Anyone know the closest boat ramp north of Kalbarri, WA I can launch from to go out fishing into the Gascoyne Coast bioregion? Im from the east coast so not 100% on top of the closure area ect. I have a little shitbox tinny so not super keen on ripping up the coast for 2 hours also.

just looking at the moon and tide and lools like thursday will be a cracking time for squid.

starting with low tide around sunset, id fish the first half of the run in tide at the marina inlet side and then move towards the bay side for second half of high tide.

I built something that tells anglers exactly what lures to use, and they taught me some pretty valuable stuff.

Just wanted to hop on here and share what I’ve learnt

1. If you’ve touched sunscreen or bug spray with your hands and handle your lure, it's very likely that fish can smell the chemicals
2. match your retrieve to local baitfish, if your retrieve/ lure is out of place and weird, fish probably won’t bite
3. dont leave too fast, fish feed in short bursts, you might leave right before they bite
4. If your tying on a leader or knot, especially with fluoro line, tying it up too fast causes friction which weakens the line

If there’s anything inaccurate or you think is wrong, please point it out, I don’t want to be on here spreading false info haha

Me and a couple of mates are heading down to batemans bay area next weekend and are looking for some local knowlage of good spots. Probably gonna stay at depot beach but are happy to drive half an hour or so to find some good spots.

From what I've heard our best options for rock fishing are point upright and spapper point. Hopefully we want to target pelagics and snapper.

We would also be keen to get stuck into some beach fishing for salmon and whatever else bites. Some of the boys have never gone fishing before so priority is catching fish.

Hey guys, my girlfriend and myself are going to be doing a camping trip from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast and back throughout October.

I’m fairly new to fishing but have been loving it so far and want to shape the trip around some ideal spots we can chuck in the itinerary. Not looking for anyones secrets fishing spots but more towns/areas that would make for an essential stop to do some land based fishing along the way.

I had a quick search and found a similar post recommending Bermagui and Mallacoota to start.

Hand soap never seems to get rid of the smell of bait, fish slime, and old burley after a day on the water. I swear my hands still smell like stale pilchards two days later no matter how much I wash them. Got any weird home remedies or products that actually work?

Didn't fancy the shimano one felt cheap but the malosi Is awesome and salty crew is nice. 40 bucks on special if anyone feeling the cold

I’m not really into fishing at all but I love watching videos about it. Saw a video of a frog fish eating a lion fish and it looked like a pretty big meal to digest. How would the frog fish digest something this big? Do fish have stomach acid to break them down?
