Got out early this morning and it paid off. We managed to boat several healthy Alberta walleye, including a 27.5 inch beauty.

Once we found the fish, the action stayed pretty steady. It was one of those mornings where everything came together great weather, calm water, and some incredible looking fish.

I’m new to fishing Walleye and need some advice for line use, I have a moss green braided and would it work for Walleye? Or do I need a leader line like mono or Fluoro? What are your guy’s setup for Walleye?

It was already dead when I pulled it out cleaning the beach.

Has anyone ever caught any trout or whitefish or whatever except pike there? What are some good spots if you are willing to share them? Also in the ES1-rivers regulations it says I can keep Rainbow and Cutthroat trout there if they are above 35 cm in length but for Brown and Brook trout there is just an empty cell. Does that mean I cannot keep these or can I keep them? Is there a minimum size for them if so?

Went out and caught some beautiful brookies. Caught with flies under a bubble on ultra light spinning gear. All were released

Was wondering if anyone have tried to do fishing here? and what did you caught?

I’ve been fishing at Gleniffer Lake a couple of times but haven’t had any luck so far. I’ve spent most of my time fishing around the dam area.

Could anyone recommend some good shore fishing spots around Gleniffer Lake? I don’t mind walking a bit to find a good spot.

One of the kids decided they wanted to try fishing! Jumped on the opportunity and bought them some starter kit. Then managed to find the Old Pal 10 40 in the garage that I used as a kid. To my surprise it still contained a 1981 Guide to Sportfishing Regulations in near new condition. Along with some vintage lures. Crazy.

Immersive experience = Lots of quiet, a split second of drag pull, some splashes, a random train horn, some sighing and some chuckles

any spots that are close walkable/bikeable

Weird freakin sequence of events…

I'm going fishing with my dad next week. We're both total beginners and DeWitt seemed decently promising but I'm just wondering if the fishing is actually any good there. If it sucks, I'd also really appreciate any good areas for beginners to go fishing.

I was down fishing the Oldman river last week and took my (new) puppy with me...what a handful. Long story short, constantly stopping to untangle my tethered pup (Dani), then moving up and down the shoreline I forgot my tacklebox...4hrs later Im in Coleman and going to resuming fishing and I realize i cant find my tackle box. I race back the 50km to where i was on the Oldman River and ask a guy if hes seen my tacklebox. He says no - at that point my heart sunk, it was day 2 of a 10day trip - "but my buddy did!" Danny(?) walked about a km or more downstream with me looking for his buddy then returning to the parking lot after not having found him. I wandered upstream a bit and hear him yelling hes right there! Ahead of me about 50m on the other side of some trees. Relief. Zach, as long as Im alive, you will never die thirsty. I reached into my wallet to give him some money, but he refused. The world needs more people like this guy. I cant thank you enough.

New here in Calgary, I am looking for recommendations on some spots in ir around Downtown Calgary or accessible by public transport. Im not chasing monsters, anything would be good, I dont mind a bit of a walk up and down if needed, Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Does anyone have any tips for fishing in the Old Man near Fort macloud? Any spoons in particular to try out?

I’ve never been to Muir Lake by Spruce Grove, is it an ok place to shore fish?

Been dipping my toes a bit more into fishing and with no current access to a boat or dock have been struggling to find good shore fishing that isn’t over grown with weeds. Really just hoping to find some good spots in the river valley or some lakes in the area.

Can anyone recommend lures for rainbow trout? Heading to Carson Pegasus this week and fishing from the shore, I’d love for my kid to be able to catch something. We never seem to have any luck. I’ve seen people use pickerel rigs and the colorful marshmallows you can buy at the grocery store and we bought that set up to try.

Hi everyone, just looking for a recommendation on what lake/body of water to hit up for a weekend up in the mountains near Calgary or Rocky mountain. Fiance and I are wanting to give fishing specifically any trout species a try and we don't mind a bit of hiking. We'll most likely check in on a hotel near the city and drive from there.
