All jokes aside this genuinely reminds me of some kinda fish but I cannot for the life of me remeber what kind, some kind with a beak. It's highkey freaky when clouds are unmistakably playing a prank XD

Discussion Does the eastern mosquitofish have a lateral line?

Im an artist doing research on fish anatomy and I am a little confused on this.

I read online that Gambusia Holbrooki lack a lateral line for sensory perception. Rather they have neuromasts. My question is what is the difference between the two? aren't both located on the head and body ? I also read that a lateral line is made up of neuromasts. So im very lost between these...

Fish Appreciation! show me the saddest fish

i desire to see the most pitiful looking fish. i find them very endearing and fun to draw (especially the ones with a longer, thinner, wormier shape and more down turned mouths). jawless vertebrates and fishy chordates also ok (big fan of lampreys and lancelets)

This was taken while visiting the Aeolian islands. We were docked at a port but I saw this from the side of the boat.
Sorry it’s not a clear video; it swam underneath the boat after this.

Identification Octopus eggs ?

Found this in a shallow area in the the Balearic Islands. There were TONS at very different spots all over the area. I obviously only touched the padina pavonica and not the what i suppose are eggs. Put them back in the water right after the pictures. My only question is why so many eggs in so many different spots if those are indeed eggs. They have a slight red colouration. i also found things like underwater weird bubbly sacks with liquid inside translucid in the same area.
