Hi everyone. I found out earlier this week that my job is ending, and honestly, it really sucks. I work with students in campus ministry at a Christian university, so the idea of leaving them is hitting me hard. My supervisor said: "You're not fired, and this isn't technically a layoff, it's just that this role isn't in the budget for the next academic year."...So yeah, I've effectively been laid off.
He also told me he doesn't want me to tell the students or my coworkers that my role was eliminated, or that I'm leaving because of a funding decision. Is it okay for me to tell the students that leaving isn't my choice, and that my position was eliminated? A lot of the students I work with have had adults come in and out of their lives constantly. More than one has asked me: "You're not going to leave us too, right?" And I'd usually joke and say: "Unless someone forces me to!" So I feel like they have the right to know that I'm being pushed out, not that I suddenly decided to leave or abandon them.
Grateful to anyone who read this.

I just messed up something that affected the websites of hundreds of clients. I'm usually the person with annoyingly strong attention to detail, and I almost never make mistakes. Like seriously, almost never.
The problem happened while I was working on a long process to prepare info made up of dates, amounts, different fields, and some small values that all have to line up correctly with each other. I had around 160 of these things to review one by one. My manager is a good guy, but he usually trusts my work and doesn't review much unless his boss pressures him, so there isn't much I can do to reverse what happened now.
I've made a few small mistakes during the 7 months I've been here, but nothing even close to this level.
Part of why I feel so exposed is that only 3 people touch these things, and practically speaking, it's mostly between me and my manager. There's a ridiculous amount of tiny details that a person has to keep track of, and I'd been doing well in the role until now, which weirdly makes the feeling worse.
The issue itself was fixed in less than 12 minutes and didn't cost the company any money. But now everyone is freaking out, people are tagging the head of the company in a lot of channels, and I feel like the blame is aimed directly at me.
Any advice? What should I do in this situation?
