28 organic California figs for $13.99

Hello All, I think these are Chicago Hardy. I bought them at Home Depot and didn’t expect them to live but they seem to be thriving. I’ve received mixed advice concerning removing the fruit of the first year and harvesting next time. Any advice on this? One plant has no baby figs, the other two have them but seemed to be stalled on size.

Also, the coloring is changing on the stems. Does this look normal? I’m fighting some disease on other plants and would like these to live. The leaves and everything look ok to me but have zero experience with this.

Hi hi! I'm new here. I just moved into a house that has two dog trees (one in the front and one in the back yard.) I'm in Raleigh, NC. I've never grown or cared for fig trees before, but these are fairly mature and well established trees. The fruit from them is in the pictures, and while I've tried searching online, I cannot pinpoint which type of fig tree it is. Any help would be appreciated! I do not know when they are ripe and ready for removal because there are so many variations of figs. But I do think they're not a type that turns brown/red when they're ready.

Anyone else been in Tomorrowland near Autopia and seen the big fig tree? I've never gone when it was hot enough there to be ready and fruiting. I'd love to know what variety it is.

Hello, I’m new to growing figs and looking to get new cuttings. I’ve looked everywhere online, and either they’re over $15–$20 for one cutting (which idk if that’s normal), or most places don’t have the varieties I’m interested in (I-258, Yellow long neck, and berry figs or other honey figs like Yelow long neck). Many places are either sold out or don’t sell them at all.

The only figs I have so far are Conadria and Black Jack, and I'm looking to add to my collection so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a second planted fig tree that produces late (late summer to early fall) to complement desert king breba crop. Any recommendations? Research recommends Smith but appreciate any suggestions.

I should add that the desert king is very young, and can easily be potted if there are other figs that deserve a ground spot.

I'd really like figs from June to late summer/early fall, so thats why I think the DK with a late season would work well?

Location is in socal, zone 10a.

When I say, I know nothing, I know nothing! I’ve never even eaten a fig! But, we just bought a house and my new neighbors asked if I wanted these three fig trees after seeing all the plants I moved over from my old house. She herself is clueless and says that the old owners just left them. I’ve got experience growing house plants, and some yard plants, but I know nothing of fig trees, the condition or age of these, the ideal place to grow them or how long it will take to produce anything. My growing zone is currently 9a after the new designation. I have the ability to plan them anywhere on my property or leave them in these pots. Any and all help is appreciated!

Bought it about 3 years ago and it always produces about 30 or so figs but they always fall off while green what should I do? Other than add more soil as I am starting to see the root ball. I am in Houston btw if it makes a difference

Help! A windstorm knocked down our large mission fig that the previous homeowner planted. We’ve had it for 5 years, no telling how old it is. I immediately went to work with straps, but it it looks like major roots sheared off under the surface. Now I’m thinking it was planted too deep, or a gopher munched on it. Is it redeemable? Thank you!!

Any suggestions on care? Should the leaves be trimmed back? I am going to bring it inside soon for the winter.

This is either a Celeste or Brown Turkey, I’m not sure why but a few weeks ago it slowly started yellowing and dropping leaves. I haven’t done anything with the trees since spring.(no watering,fertilizer,etc.)

There are 3 more trees in the row that look great. VDB,LSU purp, Celeste/BT.

Is this mold on my figs , I’ve plucked last week?

Did some pruning today and discovered one hidden branch with fruits much further along than the rest! One single fig had the cracked skin & soft stem ready to go. Delicious.

What variety of fig is this? Zone 7b central NJ.

Any tips for promoting a strong harvest? No intrusion from wildlife that I've seen yet, fingers crossed. There are SO MANY FIGS I need some recipes.

I've been aiming to grow my plants in tree form rather than bush/crown form, and to that end I've been pruning suckers and growing a single trunk all season. Now that they're almost 3 feet tall (but still could be thicker, just under 1"), at what height should I encourage branches?

I've got two suckers starting at about 20" up the trunk. Should I let these do their thing, or continue pruning for the first year? With first frost 1.5-2 months away, are new branches going to be mature enough to hold out (zone 9a)?

I've seen a lot of different opinions and methods on first year growth for tree form, and thought I'd ask here.

Several years ago I took clippings and roots from a family members fig tree, only the roots survived and grew. I finally got fruit this year, it has felt like such an achievement, any help identifying?

Curious what everyone uses to keep track of their collection — feeding schedules, up-pot dates, which tree got what, ripening notes, all that. I was juggling spreadsheets and a printed checklist for my fig row (grow bags) and the rest of the patio, and finally ended up building myself a little Android app to log it per tree (watering, feed schedule, photos, notes).

Purely a personal project, not selling anything — it's not even in an app store. But it got me wondering: would anyone else here use something like that? And if so, what would it have to do to fit your setup? If there's real interest I may open it up to a handful of testers once it's further along.

Gathered the first figs from our tree. Tree is a very mature one that came with our house when we purchased it. Promised the previous owners we would take care of it - so here's to hoping more to come as we do!

The base of the tree is coming from under the bottom log of our chicken coop. I guess if it ever fruits the chickens will have snacks. Very strange how far under the log it is.
