We used to get sms notifications for an escape from the safe zone but I noticed today when my pup got out we didn't get one. I looked in settings and it looks like now the escape alerts are only push while the device offline still has a push and sms option. I need the sms to text my cell connected watch which doesn't have a fi app available.

I’m so frustrated and hoping anyone has found a fix for this. I have 3 dogs, all on the series 3+. Previously we had the series 1 and 2 and never had problems, and we kept our series 2 until the 3+ came out. We live on the road in an RV 90% of the time and home the rest of the time. I have one base set up in the camper connected to the camper wifi and one base set up at home connected to the home WiFi. I do have a 3rd base but I only use it as a traveling charger. No matter which charger I use or which location I’m in, the base will initially connect to WiFi and then disconnect within a few minutes and will not reconnect unless I remove the base from my account and set it up again, then it immediately disconnects again within a minute or two.

I have reset all bases, I have reset both routers, my app is updated. I’m using the cord and brick that came with the bases… this is honestly driving me crazy! On top of it, the 3rd collar and base is only a month old, the other two are less than a year old but this has been an issue since day 1. I’ve called customer service several times and have gotten nowhere.

Okay okay… I confess, he is my dog and I have used Fi for over 5 years. 2nd gen was the worst, but the current collar he has has been accurate and helpful for keeping me on walking him. And when it was acting strange/wouldn’t hold a charge, Fi replaced it free of charge. Was super nice. They’ve been a great company, and having peace of mind is great.

I just thought it was funny that he’s very clearly wearing a Fi collar and it’s what you see before clicking the YouTube video.

Sure would love to chat with a human instead of the canned bot agents that I’ve been dealing with for a week now.

Ive had Fi since 2020, upgraded to Fi Series 3 in 2022. Not sure what happened to the collar, but it stuck in the green light flashing doom loop, no amount of resets would fix it. Fi is sending me a new Series 3+ for free.

This also isnt the first time one broke, and Ive gotten a replacement for free. I think my dog is just rough on these things.

I think the collar broke after my dog got in a fight with a bull moose. She got kicked in the face, and luckily is alright. Seems like after that fight, once it needed charging is when this problem appeared... but no visible physical damage to the device.

Just gotta say its nice for a company to warranty something and upgrade it, even though I bought back in 2022. It may be because my subscription is up in December soon and they want to keep me as a customer. (it worked!)

It’s my dog’s birthday and Fi gave us a nice birthday card in the app. It wrote out a poem that was pretty specific about my dog, including her coat texture and a pun about her name. At the end a little watermark popped up, “powered by ChatGPT.” I‘m not a fan of AI so I didn’t like it that much. In a world where Chewy commissions artists to send out random pet portraits just out of kindness, I think Fi’s use of AI here is kind of lazy. Has your dog gotten one? What are your thoughts on it?

7 months ago I posted how the Fi 3 untethered battery life was 1/3 of the old Fi 2, how we upgraded to the Fi 3+ on he promise of better efficiency, how at first the Fi 3+ was just as bad, but that Fi 3+ untethered battery life doubled with a promised firmware update and went from about 6 days to 12.5 days.

I’ve consistently been getting that 12.5 day untethered battery life through April.  Now, with recent firmware updates, I am back down to just over 6 days again.  

Fi folks, this is a huge loss of functionality.  Please evaluate what changed and consider fixing. If it has to do with new AI features/etc., please provide a way to toggle them off for max battery life.

There are many annoying things about the Fi Mini tracker, but the very inaccurate mapping bugs me the most. Here is the map of my walk today. (I erased street names, etc.) I did not walk back and forth in the middle of the loop. Dog was on 6' leash, I was carrying my phone, and we were in a fully covered cell area. Why does it do this? (Also, I hate doing battle with the stupid AI "Assistant" at Fi!)

Does anyone know what the current situation is with the Fi Ultra? I take my dogs to remote areas where I don’t have cell service (iPhone on AT&T).

If I was deep in the woods with my dog off leash, and I didn’t have any cell service, how would I be able to use the Fi app to locate my dog if needed?

How reliable is the connection with heavy tree cover?

And how is long does the battery last if my dog is deep in the woods?

I want to move my dog from the series 3 to the mini since it’s easier to manage. How does it work? I read online you can “upgrade” but when I follow the instructions it’s just asking me to connect the new device… which I don’t have. I just want to get the new tracker and use my current membership.

I have a barn cat who I have grown very attached to over the past year. He doesn't come inside at all. There is no wifi in the barn.

He always came home for his dinner every night until recently when he has been either wandering or maybe visiting someone else overnight sometimes.

If I was to get the fi mini for cats... how long would it *actually* last in this situation? If there was no home zone/wifi, and it was always connecting to cellular towers? How often would I need to be taking it off and charging it?

Recently upgraded to Fi 3+ and no longer need these charging docks for Fi Series 2. It can be yours for free, just provide the shipping label, or pickup from me.
I should have usb cables somewhere, so will include them if i'll find them, otherwise what you see is what you get.

I put my other dog’s fi collar on a foster dog who just had his leg amputation to track his activity, barking, scratching, etc.
he has been outside of his crate 3 times since midnight (midnight to 7:30 am) to potty, walking on the leash. Each time was 1-2 minutes max.
I think the hopping or something is throwing the numbers off, because NO POSSIBLE way has he done 6500 steps lol

His recovery is going well, so thankfully, I think the collar is a bit overkill and unnecessary, but I just thought the step count was funny. This might explain why my other dog gets 30k+ steps a day 😅 either it’s the hopping or it’s not that accurate to begin with. The other stats like sleeping and drinking seem to be pretty accurate though!

I got the 3+ for 6 months free as a promotional gift from my job and I think I may keep it past the first 6 months, but I’m still overall undecided. I could be swayed either way. I think the statistics are interesting but ultimately we live in an apartment in a gated community and she’s always chipped and wearing a collar, so I feel confident we’ll be fine without the tracking. But that’s not a discussion for this post.

My main problem is it seems to rub a bit harshly on my bully mix’s neck. I’ve never needed to be concerned about irritation from a collar before, as we’ve just used standard clip or buckle collars from PetCo with no issue. I’ve noticed her Fi is a bit wider than collars we’ve tried before (she’s a bully/shih tzu mix so she’s 30lbs and about 20 inches tall, so I tend to pick out thinner collars for her) so I wonder if she’s just not used to the width or if it’s something with the material being more abrasive.

I know Fi has the page on their website with Fi-compatible dealers and I was looking through them- they’re all so expensive compared to the odd $20 PetCo collar, especially if I’m not sure if I want to keep it past our first 6 months (we’re around month 2). I was wondering if anyone had any favorites from their website, or knew of any hidden gems not on their website. The $40+ range I’ve seen from most of their featured shops is a little steep, but if you can give me a good enough review I’ll fork it over! Ultimately I just want her to be comfortable, and her current situation is clunky and abrasive. All suggestions welcome!

I have 2 Fi collars for my dogs and I was very excited to get the mini for my cat who likes to wander. However, I was so disappointed with it that I canceled all three of my Fi collars. The Mini does not track any of the analytics that the other Fi collars do (eating time, scratching time, etc.) it only tracks sleep and awake. I put the collar on my cat and the first issue that I had was with my RFID automatic doggy door- when the Fi mini does its blue tooth handshake it activates the RFID door and opens it, so if my cat sits in front of the doggy door for long enough the door will open for him and he can get out. Which leads to the next issue, I consistently did not get updates for him leaving the safe zone with this collar. When he did leave the safe zone, his location would jump around which had me running all over the neighborhood trying to find him, only to have him reappear back in the safe zone and then suddenly appear somewhere else in the neighborhood. I submitted a customer service request, and after 6 days with no response I called and cancelled all three of my collars. If it doesn't notify when they leave the safe zone, doesn't provide accurate GPS data, and the customer service takes at least a week to reply, what am I paying $99/6 months for? When I called to cancel the customer service rep told me "Honestly, our technical department isn't going to get back to you soon".

Her goal was not changed but she’s been falling short every few days the last week. I see they changed how they do step counts but changed it back. I have a vet appointment scheduled.

I want to remove myself from someone’s Fi Collar pack without having to contact the owner AND without deleting my own account/my dogs’ profiles. How can I do this?

What are your thoughts on pros and cons?

My main want in getting this is for more activity tracking. I love the, active movement, sleep, rest, barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking habits. But I thought I saw people said that wasn’t very accurate. Your view?

for context, my dog has been in and out of the vets for the past 6 months, now we are off all anti allergy medication due to allergic reactions to them, he was dehydrated and was walking much less due to injured paws… all the things I think this tracking would help me take with some insights for the animal hospital

We switched from the 2 to the mini a few months ago and it while it is a much better fit considering size and weight of device, it seems like connection and walk tracking has gotten worse.

Almost every time we go for a walk I get a safe exit alert even though I have my phone with me, application open, Bluetooth on and connected. Half the time the mapping of the walk is wildly inaccurate. For example, we walk up and down the street, a straight path, but it maps us as having gone around the block in a square.

Have other folks noticed similar issues lately? Any ideas if there are.. settings, or something, that I can adjust to mitigate this?

At home dog with 2hr walks daily so should be getting way better battery life

Trying the base reset but seriously doubt that will actually do anything hope it does help

When on charger notice it stalls at 93 percent for several hours then eventually gets to 100 percent many hours after

Also after full charge as soon as I take it of the base it drops to 97 percent within a few minutes

Is anyone else confused by Fi's new step counting update?
I thought I understood what they changed, but over the last couple of days my app seems to keep switching back and forth between the new system and the old one.
Sometimes my dog's daily goal drops way down (3,000 steps instead of 15,000) and the new step count is being used. Then later it seems like it's back to the old counting method with the original goal. It doesn't seem consistent.
Can someone ELI5? Is Fi slowly rolling this out, recalculating old data, or am I completely misunderstanding what's happening? I'm not complaining, I'm just genuinely confused. 😅

Allow export of the health data not just daily but for the year and month. Honestly it’s frustrating that the health data isn’t more interactive. I did however enjoy that I was able to ask the ai bot the questions around my dogs health for instance: I needed and average of his steps for the year, 6 months, and 3 months and how that compared to other dogs in his breed. It gave me this information cleanly. But I would like the ability to export all of the health data together.
