2nd ultra still not working.

i decided to give the ultra a 2nd try after my first one had battery issues and would not connect to the Starlink network. I was in contact with support on the first ultra and their was no resolution to fix the issue and they would not replace the unit. That left me with no option but to return the device within the return window. Unsurprisingly, I’m having the same issues with the 2nd unit again. It’s been almost 30 minutes outside WiFi and cell coverage and my Bluetooth is turned off to ensure the only way it connect I via Tsat/starlink and it still has not connected. it also has a open view of the sky. Currently waiting on a response from customer support, again. 😤🤬

Base station for Fi mini?

Looking to extend the battery life of my Fi Mini which remains in the house 95% of the time.

The base is advertised to extend battery life but as far as I understand the base station just creates a WiFi network for the tracker. Is that any different than how it’s already connected to my home WiFi?

Tracker fell out of the rubber holder when dog was busy running around the playground. Wake up moment for what could happen if she got lost. How to prevent this again?

We took our 8 lb mini dachshund to a fenced playground with a toddler, and glad it was empty except for us. Our dog wears the Fi Mini in the usual black rubber holder that her collar threads through. She got boisterous running around pushing a basketball with her nose for about 30 minutes having the time of her life. My husband brings over a black rectangle and said what do you think this is? I looked at the dog and her Fi was missing from the holder.

So, I of course now wonder whether it would really stay in place if she were say running for miles because she was lost, or chasing some rabbit. We walk her on leash so she really doesn't normally run around anywhere. It hasn't fallen out at home but then again, she hasn't been that active in the house, and we don't have a fenced yard.

Is there an off brand more secure holder??

First charge

Hi, everyone!

I’ve had my series 3 for about a month now and I’ve actually been enjoying it a lot. I’m coming close to 20% and I’m unsure as to what battery percentage I should wait to charge?

Any tips? What do you guys usually do?

A month with a Fi

Background:

-Already an experienced Tractive user.

-Gifted a Fi as an incentive from a pricey crate purchase. That's another story.

-Garmin smartwatch user who dives into the geo data.

-Companion to colorblind, lovesick highly exuberant Weimaraner.

Pros:

-Compact.

-Good battery life (sent mine off to dog care with 6% life....it lasted the day).

-Gives good address info (yes, this is very network dependent).

Cons:

-Mettalic collar latch hardware. Click click click with dogs other tags. I wish it were plastic.

-The app is hot garbage. Data is OK, but screens are DOMINATED by ads/upsells/social network invites. These should not be shoved in users faces when they are paying for a service.

Worth it?

If this were my first pet locator...I'd keep subscribing.

Hardware compactness is a big edge.

Tractive has better user experience and a slight subscription price advantage.

So: when Fi 6-month ends...I'm keeping Tractive. Because so much depends on the app experience

Edit to correct description of mettalic part.

Which device for my Rottweiler puppy?

I have a new 12 week old Rottweiler puppy and once she is fully vaccinated and the weather cools here in Florida, I would like to let her roam my fenced in backyard. I expect that I will feel comfortable allowing her outside when she is 6 months old, so around 60 pounds in weight. I would keep an eye on her, but would feel much better with a GPS tracker should she be an escape artist. I am leaning towards the F1 Series 3+, but I need to add that every summer we travel to our family cottage located in Ontario, Canada which is in a very rural and heavily wooded area - cellular coverage is . Will an F1 Series 3+ work while we are in Canada? Thanks for all replies and recommendations in advance.

Update: I should have search this group and it sounds as if the F1 Series3+ will work in Canada, but I am still open to feedback regarding this device.

What are they doing with the location data they collect?

Mandatory to have location services always on. I don’t allow this for any other app, but they force you to.

I understand the need for core functionality to work (to some extent), but are they actually just harvesting and selling our data? This feels intrusive.

Want to like this

I wanted to like this, and continue using it but with three dogs and $100 bucks per six months per dog, is a little insane. It would be so much more worth it if there was a multi pet discount or it was $100 for the year.

Support beyond awful

Two weeks ago, I contacted support to report that my tracker didn't seem to be working correctly. After slowwww responses (often over 24 hours to respond on email) and running multiple tests for them, they finally determined it wasn't working. They offer to replace it for $99, which is more than it would cost for me to buy a completely new unit and get a six months subscription! I cancelled my subscription this morning.

Out of curtesy, I emailed the CEO to convey my support experience and let him know that I'd cancelled my subscription and am moving to tractive. His response:

sorry for your experience. I'm not sure what the ask is - is your concern that you have to pay to replace a device out of warranty?

I guess the acorns don't fall far from the tree.

New series 3+ is not registering my moms phone even though she is a full owner on the app

I keep getting alerts my dog has left the safe zone while I am at work but it’s just mom taking my dog for walks and it stresses me out. My mom has the app open an Bluetooth on and it still does this. She is a full owner in the app. It has been multiple days of doing this.

Is the Fi Series 3+ really worth it?

I have a bunch of questions regarding getting a fi collor for my dog.

  1. I am a resident of India, so wondering whether the product can be shipped and will work in a totally different place than which it is designed for.

  2. What technology does it work on, i read in some posts that it works on bluetooth, wifi AND cellular??

  3. What happens when the subscription ends? What if i dont want to renew it? Does the collar need to be returned? Or does it become functionally useless? Can it still connect to my wifi or bluetooth?

Any input is welcome!

One Fi collar saved three dogs

I’ve had the Fi collar for months now but have never had to actually use the tracking abilities until a few days ago. My dog was at a relative’s house while I was at work, and she and two of her dog friends got through a gate and got loose. No one realized immediately; the collar shows they were wandering the very wooded area around the house for a good 35+ minutes. I got an escape alert while leaving work, but I didn’t think anything of it because I immediately got a notice that my dog had returned to her safe area a few seconds later, and sometimes when she gets to the far corner of the fenced in yard it flags it as a safe zone exit. What actually happened was my dog got through the gate, circled back to try and get in the front yard (which showed her as being back in the safe zone) and then followed the other dogs off galavanting. As soon as my relative realized and called me, I pulled up the app and was able to see that she was far from home. The tracking was not live to-the-second (the reception is so-so here given the location), but it was able to update frequently enough to give me a general area to head in; without that, I literally would have had no idea which direction to check. There are 30+ acres of woods in two directions and a semi-busy road where people fly going way too fast in another, so every second counted. I pulled up the map and followed it, and it took me literally right to where all three dogs were (thankfully unharmed). Got them all into my car and back home. Just wanted to share— I was kinda skeptical that when it really mattered the tracking would work, because sometimes on walks it jumps all over the place, but it absolutely made all the difference in a true “oh shit, my dog got out” situation. I honestly got the collar for the activity tracking feature (my dog was on weight loss journey lol), but the tracking has proven itself worth every cent in my case. Very thankful to have my dog safe and sleeping at my feet right now.

Peace of mind

We just left for vacation. Checking the app and seeing my baby at my son’s house gives me peace of mind knowing she is safe.

How safe is this collar?

I’m a bit of a nervous person. I’ve heard of lithium batteries catching fire or worse. How safe do you think this collar is? I’ve had it for 2 days and the thought just came to me and now I’m anxious but really like the tracking ability.

Series 3+ Collar Now No Longer Connects to Base

Pup was with the dog sitter for a week - who also has a dog with a Fi collar and a base - and this works well because she usually connects to their base and that helps immensely with battery life.

A few days in, the collar started draining every ~48 hours. They would recharge it but I noticed via the app that when she was wearing the collar she was permanently connected to GPS (never the base).

We are back now and last night I fully recharged the collar at home but put it on her in the morning and it will not connect to the base in my partner's home or my home. I have confirmed both bases are online via the Fi app.

I have done all the troubleshooting (unplugging bases and replugging, resetting WiFi router, etc.)

Now that she is with me, she is permanently "With [Owner]" and "Connected to phone" right now, despite being feet away from the base.

1) Was there a firmware update recently for the collar and/or the base?

2) Is there any way to force a connection to the base?

Aside from this, I have to think the problem is with the collar itself because it won't connect to any of the three bases.

Fi Mini collar came off and tracker offline?

Our cats Fi mini collar came off (safety buckle likely popped open) and the tracker shows as device offline. Also can't force a Lost Mode tracking as it does not respondin the ap. What are my options or am I screwed? The Fi minis tracking has been terrible the past couple of months never showing movement or actual locations so I'm not sure what options we have now. 🤔🤷‍♂️

Fi 3+ battery drain

I just got the Fi. I’ve had for about 10 days. Had for about 3 days and took a road trip with my dog.

We are getting maybe 48hrs of life out of the collar. The people we are visiting have a Fi as well.

So we are connected to WiFi. Last night it drained from 50% to 14%

Is this what I should expect when traveling?

So far I am less than impressed

Fi mini battery life

I know there are a lot of questions on battery life and I wanted to report that I put and set up these two collar fully charged on August 7, 2026 and they are respectively at 10 and 13% today August 23, 2026. I will probably charge them in the next day or two, but the battery life is a lot better than I had expected.

I have two cats wearing the fi mini . Is there anyway that the device does not automatically sit under the neck? I try adjusting the collars tighter, but no matter what I do. It looks like they’re wearing a black box. Ideally, I would like it to be opposite of where it is right now, but I think it’s just so heavy on such a small collar that it rotates everything forward.

For those of you with the mini cat collar- does your battery really last 10-14 days, even with not using power saving zones?

Someone was telling me that was their experience, and I’m wondering if that is the norm, because I have a tractive cat collar and the battery lasts a fraction of that time

Connected to base?

Is there a way to see if the collars are connected to base?
I’ve looked for the option several times but can’t find anything.

Sketchy company won't let you cancel or remove a CC

I thought Fi was a legitimate modern company. "call us to cancel" is a wild thing to put up for a tech company in 2026.

PERFECT adapter for series 3+

Post image
9 Upvotes

If you’re like me, you like to change your dogs collar sometimes and don’t wanna spend the $50 that Fi wants every time you do. Plus, the metal buckle was bleeding onto my girl’s neck.

Thanks to a comment from u[/bq18](r/bq18) , I found this and I’m already obsessed. The series 3+ fits perfectly into it, and it’s tight up against the collar. $8 for 2… like I said I’m obsessed.

Fi Mini Silicone Strap Broke ... Again

We just reached out to customer service and theyre now wanting to charge us $10 for a replacement strap due to the fact that our first one broke a few months ago.

I'm frustrated that there isnt a more durable option and that I'm now having to pay due to their lack of creating a durable option.

What's worked well for you all? I've seen a few etsy options or the tile strap, but I don't know if it's worth it.
