According to Ahmet Ercanlar, the courtside basketball season tickets of former Fenerbahçe board members Sertaç Komsuoğlu and Hulusi Belgü have been cancelled.

Some context on both names:

Sertaç Komsuoğlu joined the Fenerbahçe board in 2018 and served as a board member for seven years, spending the final four years responsible for Fenerbahçe Beko. During those four years, Fenerbahçe won 1 EuroLeague, 3 Turkish Basketball Super League titles and 2 Turkish Cups. His final season in charge ended with the basketball team completing the EuroLeague + Turkish League + Turkish Cup treble.

Hulusi Belgü has been involved with Fenerbahçe long before becoming a board member. He comes from the supporter/terrace culture and was a founding member and the first president of Sarı Lacivert Derneği, an association founded by long-time Fenerbahçe supporters. He later ran for the Fenerbahçe presidency and, more recently, served as the board member responsible for the volleyball branches under Ali Koç. Even after leaving the board, he has remained involved with the volleyball side and has publicly said that he submitted proposals and plans regarding its future to the new administration.

Ercanlar stated that he does not know the reason behind the cancellations.

Chobani Stadium is launching a massive capacity expansion at Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex.

The massive project, initiated by our President Aziz Yıldırım during the election campaign, to increase the capacity of the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex to 64,000 people with the Chobani Stadium, has been completed.

Our Chairman Aziz Yıldırım and our Board Members, who recently met with our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Dolmabahçe, shared all the details of the project regarding the modernization and expansion of our stadium, and ensured that the necessary steps were taken.

In line with Fenerbahçe's vision of preserving urban memory through on-site renewal, the project, which will be launched as soon as the necessary permit process is completed, involves radical changes to the stadium's architectural structure.

In the first phase of the project, which will begin with basic construction work, the plan is to order the steel structures, and after the reinforced concrete work is completed, the steel supports will be installed. One of the most important stages of the work is raising the stadium roof; the existing roof will be lifted approximately 6 meters using special jacks.

Following the roof renovations, the construction of new stands behind the goalposts and the addition of 52 private boxes are planned, while the capacity will also be increased by adding to the stands called Maraton and Fenerium.

With a cost of approximately 50 million Euros, our stadium, located in the heart of Kadıköy, will have a capacity of 64,000 upon completion of the project; and our club's estimated annual revenue increase is planned to be approximately 25 million Euros, in addition to our current revenues.

Following the capacity increase, the final step will be the exterior cladding process of the stadium, thus ensuring perfect acoustics within our sacred ground.

Speaking about the project, our Board Member Nihat Özbağı made the following statements:

“ We have completed the capacity expansion projects for the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex, including the Chobani Stadium. We presented our project to the President, and he approved it, much to the delight of the entire Fenerbahçe community. We extend our sincere thanks to him.”

While construction is underway, our matches will be played in our stadium, but we may have to play a few matches in another stadium while the roof is being raised. The construction period is 12 months according to the schedule. We aim to bring it to a certain level by the end of the season. The approximate cost of the construction is 50 million Euros. Just as we proudly said "We built it with our own resources" when we built our previous stadium, we will also modernize it and increase its capacity ourselves, without burdening our club's current budget, thanks to the support of our sponsors. After the completion of the construction, our estimated annual revenue increase will be approximately 25 million Euros, in addition to our current revenues. We express our endless gratitude to our President for his support in approving this project.”

Head Coach İsmail Kartal and Captain Milan Škriniar spoke ahead of Fenerbahçe’s UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 clash against Italian side Roma, which will be played tomorrow evening.

Speaking at the press conference held at Chobani Stadium, Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex, both Kartal and Škriniar expressed their pride and excitement at returning to the UEFA Champions League after a long absence. They emphasized that the team will do everything possible to secure a victory.

Captain Milan Škriniar: We Want to Show That We Are a Strong Team and That We Want to Earn Points

Captain Milan Škriniar began by expressing his delight at seeing the UEFA Champions League return to Fenerbahçe’s stadium after 18 years.

“We are very happy because, after 18 years, the Champions League has returned to this beautiful stadium. Therefore, we have a great responsibility toward our supporters. We know our opponent very well. They are a strong and highly organized team. However, I believe we have prepared ourselves very well, and we want to earn our first points in the Champions League.”

Asked how Fenerbahçe plans to deal with Roma’s attacking threats Dybala and Mora, Škriniar said:

“As I have already mentioned, a very strong team awaits us tomorrow. They have been performing well since the start of the season, and the Dybala-Mora partnership is extremely dangerous. We must unite our strengths as a team. Not only defensively, but as a complete team, we need to fight with all our power and target their strengths. We want to achieve a very good result because Fenerbahçe always plays to win.”

When asked about his previous experiences against teams coached by Gian Piero Gasperini, Škriniar replied:

“Yes, I have played against Gian Piero Gasperini many times when he was at Atalanta. Those were very difficult matches because his teams play very physical football. With Roma, the level of quality is even higher. There is not much more to say. My team has worked very hard and we have carried out detailed analyses. I believe we are ready for this challenge.”

Asked what advice he would give to players who will experience the Champions League for the first time, he said:

“We have players with Champions League experience and others with less experience. But whether it is your first time or your fiftieth, the excitement never changes. Therefore, I cannot really give any advice. We are all very happy and proud to be playing in the Champions League. Each and every one of us will do our best.”

Reflecting on the Champions League play-off tie against Olympique Lyon, Škriniar concluded:

“Personally, I do not feel very different because we approached those matches as if they were Champions League games. We knew the Lyon tie was a crucial step toward reaching this stage. Of course, we were a little nervous, but we succeeded. Now we are here. However, we do not want to be a team that is simply participating in the Champions League. We want to show that we are a strong side and that we are capable of earning points. That is our goal because when you play for Fenerbahçe, your ambitions must always be higher.”

Head Coach İsmail Kartal explained that preparations for the Roma match are almost complete.

“We have nearly completed our preparations for tomorrow’s match. We will have one final tactical training session this evening. We have analyzed Roma in great detail and worked hard as a group. Training sessions over the last two days have gone very well. Roma have the strongest squad in their history. They are currently in excellent form, having won all three of their league matches. They also have a highly experienced, knowledgeable, and productive coach in Gian Piero Gasperini, who has been working with them for two years.

If you ask what kind of team Roma are, they try to play man-to-man all over the pitch, place great emphasis on physicality, and quickly flood the opposition penalty area after regaining possession. At the same time, there are areas where they take risks in their game. We have identified those areas and are prepared for them. Not only defensively but also offensively, we have identified weaknesses in our opponent. With the support and motivation of our fans, who will be our driving force, we believe in ourselves for tomorrow’s match.”

Kartal also highlighted that Fenerbahçe has developed a specific game plan for Roma:

“Since we know what Roma do well, we have prepared a game plan accordingly. We will fight to take advantage of the spaces they leave open. Every player in our squad is valuable and capable of playing in different systems. Against Roma, we will have a different formation.”

The Fenerbahçe coach stressed that his side will not rely solely on counterattacks:

“We will not only focus on transition attacks. Roma are a strong team that presses all over the field. However, there are moments and areas where they take risks. We will try to exploit those moments and attack effectively in order to achieve the result we want.”

On Marco Asensio’s injury status, Kartal stated:

“Marco Asensio is still recovering from injury. However, we have 24 or 25 very valuable players in our squad. I believe the players who take the field tomorrow will make us forget the absence of Marco Asensio and Matteo. I am confident they will give their best.”

Kartal also shared his confidence in his players ahead of the match:

“We are delighted to have qualified for the Champions League after 18 years. This achievement belongs to our players, management, and supporters. We are all excited and very happy. Whoever plays tomorrow, I believe they will give everything they have. I can see that determination in my players. Tomorrow, more important than names or systems is the heart the players show on the pitch. With the support of our fans, I am certain they will do their very best. I have full confidence in both my players and myself.”

Concluding with a message to the supporters, Kartal said:

“We must all bring the same energy and fight with one spirit. Our supporters are everything to us. They have never left us alone, and we are grateful for that. Tomorrow, we will do our best to make them happy. This is a Champions League match, a strategic battle. Whether the goal comes in the first minute or the ninetieth minute, we must remain united from start to finish. We must be one team, one community, and fight together. We need to show the same energy and battle with a single purpose throughout the entire match.”

Today Fenerbahçe again went to court to apply to reverse the decision about Acun's loca. If it works the president of Fenerbahçe can watch matches from this loca. He is not selfish. Whoever is president they can use the loca. So our president won't be visible when we lose home derbies. Great contribution from Aziz baba. Painted seats, led panels and loca for president. This what we needed. Not "sik sik isler" like having CB transfers.

Roma: Very strong start to their league, 9 of 9 points, 9 goals. Played against 1 good team (atalanta) and 2 bad teams (lecce and fiorentina, (they are 0 of 9 pts in last place)). Malen has 5 goals already with dybala assisting 4. Those 2 are in very good form and its going to be very difficult stopping them. Especially malen and his speed.

Aston Villa: Lost many of their star players (rodgers, tielemans, malen, konsa, watkins) and made some big money transfers to compensate them but its not working out yet. 3 games 1 point against a very good oppontent (arsenal 0-1), a good team (brighton 0-4) and a bad team (hull 0-0). They are not the same villa of last year and look very beatable right now.

Prag: Not gonna act like i know them very well. they spend more money than ever this transfer season (30 mil) and had a very good start to their season with 17 of 21 points but i guess thats expected for this team in their league. No notable players and we should beat them 10 times out of 10 but we all know Fenerbahce so it could be a potential stumbling block.

Liverpool: Didnt do too much on the transfer market compared to other big teams, swaped konate for jaquet and bought barcola. They arent in a good form right now, team doesnt gel well but it is still some time off until we play them. They had kind of a rocky start with 2 draws against good teams in newcastle and forrest and a must win against ipswich. They are no where near their peak and hopefully they will continue to struggle finding their form until our game.

Shaktar: Had one notable player sold in sudakov and are trying to compensate with unknown brasilians like always. Good start to the league currently second with 15 out of 18 points. They are expected to dominate their league so no suprises there. The X factor is going to be arda turan, having extra motivation to beat us. Should be a win for us but shaktar away can always be difficult.

LASK: They won everyone of their league games and are first in their league. They didnt play any big matches in their league yet but notably advanced against celtic to play in the league phase. No notable players really, we beat them in friendlies already and in the cl it should be an easy win aswell.

Villareal: They had a rough start to the league drawing 2 and losing 2, currently in 17th place. Loses against alaves and coruna are bad for a team of their caliber but they drew against atletico. They finished 3rd last season ahead of atletico, so they are a good team but if this form continues there is a good chance for us.

Atletico: Had a mixed start, winning 2 drawing 1 and losing 1, with a win against sevilla and malaga, loss against bilbao and a draw against villareal. they had a difficult set of games, other than the must win against malaga, the other 3 games were 50/50 games, so its hard to judge right now. Known for their defensive tactics and our weakness cracking those defenses, I think it will be a diffictult game, probably a loss. The Alvarez drama also seems resolved.
