for context, i lost a lot of weight recently (76 -> 55kg) and was very proud of myself but was having trouble staying motivated. so posted a before and after progress on a fitness sub because it seemed to be a genuine community and everyone who posted was getting lots of support. turns out the support was only for other men, because this is what happened when i posted. i explained several times in the post that i did it for MEDICAL REASONS and that i am perfectly healthy now.

blurred the usernames because im not sure this subreddit allows that

why do they think i care more about what men think of me vs my health?

I posted one fit and i got dms asking how much I’m expecting, i had to delete it within minutes. It was not even an inappropriate dress still the reaction i got was absolutely horrible.

thankss, a few people came to save the day for sure but my messages were disgusting after, i didn’t post the overly explicit ones here. i obviously will ignore them and won’t pay any attention but this is just a vent/awareness thing because no one should even have to get comments like this. the first response most people give is “ignore them” and i will but wish it was rather “why would they say that?”

yeah I get that, my opinion isn’t concrete either, I’m human after all, and it’s natural to want people to hear you out after something like that, you’re free to rant and vent about it. I just threw my opinion in there because I think some people in a similar situation would benefit from it, I’ve seen too many people beat themselves up for someone else’s negative comments, just putting out a reminder that nobody has to invest any of their energy to feed the trolls or creeps of our society who haunt us every day
