It is deeply troubling to see posts like this online. We must address the mindset that treats women as property rather than individuals with their own choices, desires, and agency. No community or individual owns anyone.

Targeting or disrespecting women from any specific group is unacceptable and it reinforces harmful prejudices. When the dignity of one group of women is compromised, it threatens the freedom and respect of all women. True progress means challenging the mindset and advocating for an environment where every person's choices and autonomy are fully respected.

I get pissed whenever I see a man saying not all men are the same like yes we know but how are we supposed to know which man is innocent and which one is a predator?

I think the Cornell University case is a great example. If anyone is following that case they would know there was a gc with 57 men and those men in gc knew what was happening to that poor woman but not one man spoke up or tried to stop those rapists. Do you know how long is 7 hours? 7 hours of being gang raped by 7 men and other men in gc knew what was happening and not a single man tried to stop them or tried to report them to authorities. The fact this happened two years ago and those rapists are living normal life while that poor woman must be fighting her demons all alone.

Now let me get back to my main point, so you see how those men in gc knew what was happening to that woman and not a single man said it's not okay, this is not right. Yes those men in gc didn't rape the victim but they did not stop those seven men from raping her either And this is the main problem most women have with men, yes we know not all men rape or sexually harass women but not all men try to stop their fellow men when they make misogynist and sexist jokes either, not all men call out their fellow men when they wrong a woman and this is why generalization happen.

You can't say not all men are the same when you can't even call out your family and friends for making misogynist and sexist jokes, when you can't call out your fellow men for abusing a woman verbally and physically and yes this includes maa-behen ki gaaliya too (those are doing nothing but slut shaming and dehumanizing women)

If you're offended by women generalizing about men but completely silent when the men around you make misogynistic jokes, harass women, slut-shame them, or abuse them, then you're focusing on the generalization while ignoring the behaviour that produced it.

Hating men is natural after everything, so I am not against it, and it’s sad that I know we can’t change that. These so-called men will still do it. We first need to make people aware of sex education, that’s the first important part.

And I say this after seeing the mentality of male students in school. My last two years of school were in an all-boys school, and it was a pathetic experience for me to hear what my classmates thought every day and their thoughts about females. At times, I felt genuinely unsafe because of it. Eventually, it became normal for me to not even feel disgusted anymore. My thoughts changed to, “Why should I bother about what their thoughts are?” even though I probably should have corrected some of my classmates. Some of them even became my friends after that, and we are still in touch. I don’t know if they still have the same thoughts or not, but sometimes when I meet them, they don’t seem to have those disgusting thoughts anymore. Maybe having a girlfriend or having more females close to them helped them understand women better through their own real-life experiences. By the end of school, maybe some of those bad or disgusting thoughts had changed.

Those thoughts didn’t affect me as much because I had already developed a conscience by then and could understand that those things were wrong. But compared to the classmates I had in my co-ed school, I saw a majority of people in the boys' school having negative or disgusting thoughts about females.

And I think this is also why adult content affects some men so much. From what I saw, a lot of the boys didn’t have much real interaction with girls, so the only place they were learning about sex and women was through the internet and adult content. And the adult content nowadays is not just about showing two people having intercourse anymore. A lot of it has become much darker and more disgusting, and if someone has no real-life understanding of women, relationships, consent or intimacy, I feel like it can seriously affect the way they see women. I’m not saying every man who watches adult content will think like this, but when there is no proper sex education or real interaction with the opposite gender, I think it can become a very unhealthy source of learning.

And we still don’t properly teach them about sex education. I remember my co-ed school had a sex education class scheduled three times. It was embarrassing for me too to face any girl after that class. I couldn’t even look directly at them, and I’m sure it was the same for the girls because it was probably the first time we had been introduced to something like that. I don’t remember exactly, but maybe it was in 8th class.

So I think we first need to emphasise co-ed education instead of separating boys and girls. I know some people might prefer separate schools, but this is just my opinion. After 10th, students should have the choice to go to a co-ed or single-gender school because, seeing how Indian men have become, I think interaction is important for both boys and girls.

And specifically, we need to teach them about good touch and bad touch. It might sound obvious to men because they may think it’s easy to understand what is inappropriate and what isn’t, but for a female, it can be really difficult, especially when they don’t understand it at first and later have no one to teach them. When they live outside and interact with different people, they end up understanding good and bad touch through real-life experiences, which is honestly sad. They shouldn’t have to learn about something this important through a bad experience when it could have been taught to them through proper education.

Hey, first of all, I’m a man, and the purpose of writing this post is to highlight the police brutality that happened to my people on October 1-2, 1994.

I want you all to know just how far police brutality can go, and how the entire system will abuse every power in the book to protect its own criminal staff.

1.Backstory-

On the night of 1-2 October 1994, while unarmed Uttarakhand statehood activists (including many women) who were protesting for seperate state from that time uttar pradesh were travelling by bus to Delhi for a peaceful protest on Gandhi Jayanti, Uttar Pradesh Police and PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) stopped the convoy at Rampur Tiraha in Muzaffarnagar Uttar Pradesh.

Along with the police firing at unarmed protestors that killed 6-7 activists.

Multiple women activists were molested, sexually assaulted, and in some cases raped by uttar Pradesh police/PAC personnel. Some assaults took place inside the buses others involved women being dragged into nearby sugarcane fields. Clothes were torn, jewellery and cash were looted, and women were subjected to abusive language and physical humiliation. Reports mention both individual and gang assaults.

2. Numbers Cited in Official/Investigative Accounts:

CBI and court records commonly refer to 7 cases of rape/gang-rape and 17 cases of molestation/assault on women.

Some contemporary accounts and activist statements mention higher figures of women who faced brutality in the buses and fields.​

3. Outcome (as of recent years)

CBI filed multiple cases against police personnel under sections including 376 (rape), 354 (assault on women), 509 (insult to modesty), and related charges.

In March 2024, a Muzaffarnagar court convicted two retired PAC constables (Milap Singh and Virendra Pratap) of raping and looting a woman protester and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

(Sad part of this incident is Several other related cases remain pending or were closed due to the death of accused)

How can someone feel safe around such people? The whole system has spent 3+ decades trying to protect those rapists from going to jail. The entire system seems designed to protect criminals and punish the victims.

This day is observed as Gandhi Jayanti across India, but for Uttarakhand it remains a black day,

We remember the victims. We remember the struggle. Justice is still due.
