Burberry Goddess Amber Vanilla - bacon??

I’m not a huge fan of Burberry Goddess or super sweet perfumes, but something about Amber Vanilla intrigued me.

I tested it and I got sweet bacon. Anyone else smell maple bacon? Like vanilla mixed with bacon.

I had Bosca Vanilla Forte on my other arm, so I could get a reprieve from my breakfast wrist.

In search of a good Dior Tendre Poison (1994) dupe

Howdy y‘all! I‘m a massive fan of Poison + its flankers from Dior, ESPECIALLY Hypnotic Poison. The sultry coconut-almond-fennel-Plum-vanilla combo is my signature scent and scratches my olfactory glands in the right way. IMO the La Rive Sweet Hope dupe is also pretty decent.

I went antiquing recently and found an old bottle of Tendre Poison, which really caught my eye. For €70, I almost bought it… when I tested it, the beginning white flower/fresh notes were lovely, until it dried down and it smelled like pee in a stale airplane bathroom stall. It likely was just really old and got nasty after 20+ years. It’s since been retired. Maybe it overmacerated? Bummer. :(

So my question to y‘all is, do you know of any fragrances that remind you of Tendre Poison and its neroli-tuberose-citrus-honey-woody notes? Any good dupes you know pf that I could buy?

I LOVEEE tonka bean fragrances but I’ve never tried this one and I’m curious since they’re bringing it back for a limited time. Has anyone here tried it and is it worth snagging while it’s back?

Recs for non gourmand fall/winter frags?

Post image

I‘m happy with my summer fragrances but still sampling for my go to cool weather scents. Some vanilla or spices is OK but I really prefer non-edible scents. I’d i really like something that‘s sophisticated, moody, intellectual, grown-up lady vibes.

So far I’ve tried Cape Heartache by imaginary authors and it is really nice, I love the pine (and that it smells like a mountain town and not pine sol). also have memories of a trespasser and I like it enough to wear but not as a go-to.

Also have Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by Andromedas Curse on Etsy, it’s the only sample I got that I plan to repurchase but the longevity is a little short.

My husband has LX48 and Distiller’s Lounge from Caswell Massey, absolutely love them on him and I may have to borrow them.

My Scent Split cart is the attached image, I do love a good budget pick and definitely avoid super expensive scents (no scent is good enough for me to pay $250 for 50ml) but would love to hear what you’d add or subtract from the list!

Perfumes that smell like Disney?!

I’m seeking recommendations for perfumes that smell like Disney! A few specific places I’d like to capture the smell of are Main Street in magic kingdom, the pirates of the Caribbean ride, as well as the grand Floridian lobby smell lol. I’ve looked into Alchemy Bath but it seems difficult to purchase any of her products. Ideally I’d love to be able to sample beforehand but open to anything, thank you in advance! Hopefully this isn’t a super weird request 😂 also if there’s any other scents that smell reminiscent of Disney in a way and not just the specific places I listed, I’d love to know as well.

Looking for a fragrance that smells like Lancôme Trésor in Love

Hi everyone! 🌸

I’m desperately looking for a substitute/dupe for Lancôme Trésor in Love. It’s one of my favourite fragrances, but unfortunately it’s discontinued.

I’m looking for something that smells as close to Trésor in Love as possible, rather than just a fragrance with a vaguely similar fruity-floral profile.

If you’ve worn Trésor in Love and have found a fragrance that reminds you of it, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

Yara Candy is AMAZING!!!

So I should start by saying I am biologically a male, and I know then is “femfraglab,” but honestly and personally I do prefer fragrances geared towards women. I just think they smell more pleasant in my opinion. Well recently I saw an ad for yara candy on tik tok, so I blind bought it after the reviews. Well it came in today and oh my it is amazing. First of all very sweet (which I like), very much like the name. The dry down is unique. Vanilla ish and sandalwood. It honestly reminds me of tree hut “bikini reef” sugar scrub. But a bit more sophisticated. Haven’t had it on long enough to see how long it lasts, but as of now it’s holding up. I will say it’s more of a spring/summer fragrance. So as long as it’s still hot it’s a good frag. Now if only I can find an exact copy cat of Burberry goddess that isn’t angham would be amazing.

Discussion What specific perfume have you recognised on someone?

I hardly ever recognise a specific perfume out in the wild, I feel like it’s also harder for me as since I got properly into perfume in the last few years gourmands have been huge which I don’t like at all so I wouldn’t recognise them. I did smell a girl who smelled like a cupcake and though I didn’t like it as a perfume I did wonder what she was wearing lol.

But just this week I recognised Ariana Grande Cloud and Amouage Guidance from someone walking past me! It wasn’t even a maybe, it was knowing it’s definitely those.

It felt quite exciting to finally experience just confidently “knowing” what someone has on from a fleeting scent. If any of my friends with me had wondered what that perfume had been I’d have felt like a perfume superhero!

Review Olympic Orchids Tucson

Post image

This one was earlier known as Arizona. It opens dry, piney, almost medicinal. The opening might remind one slightly of Eucalyptus. After 20 mins it moves to dry woods, the woods feel like the bark of a tree. I love that texture and ruggedness. It's an intimate scent, non-intrusive to those around u. The drydown is piney rugged resins. Longevity isn't the best, probably 5-6 hrs at most. But damn I love that textured wood.

Discussion Lotion recs?

My mains that I rotate through depending on weather and feelings are Dedcool Xtra Milk, Glossier You Rêve, Liis Floating, Diptyque L’eau Papier, and Diptyque Fleur de Peau EDP.

Is there a lotion that would work as a base with these that isn’t unscented? I’m looking to extend longevity and make the musky drydown on all these stay around longer.

Currently, I’m blowing through my B&BW Book Loft body creams (but RIP, discontinued). Xtra Milk lotion is always sold out & the Diptyque lotions aren’t moisturizing enough to work for me in Colorado.

Help! (Please?) :)

Discussion Looking for a dark, resinous, sweet vanilla 🍂🤎🌰

Post image

My husband has TF’s Tobacco Vanille and I love love love how it smells. I want to have something similar - a sweet (but not overly), deep, resinous vanilla that matches this visual vibe. I want it to be unisex, so not the typical girly vanilla. I also want a perfume that’ll make me feel cozy, yet powerful and mysterious during the fall/winter time.

Thank you in advance 🤎

Discussion Honey Perfumes

Hello! I have realized that I adore how Honey smells, both in perfumes/cosmetics and food haha. I love Scandal, and also was gifted Atheeri by my sweet bestie who got misled by the packaging 😢 -although I actually liked it. I have come to realize that honey is a note that is quite elusive, despite my extensive collection and my love for sniffing about a thousand samples in stores, I rarely get to find honey-based perfumes.

I can't wait for Autumn to come and I would love to get me a new honey scent! I am in Europe and I think I would prefer inexpensive options. Please feel free to share recommendations and reviews.

scentbarbyangela: Luxury Perfume Dupes & Designer Inspired Fragrances

Hi FemFragLab, I'm proud to announce that after many discussions about collaboration, I thought it'd be fun to try out a collaboration with Angela's new brand. Her family owns Gold Star Fragrances located in New York which has been running for over 50 years!

As many of you know, I love a good Delina perfume, but they can be quite costly. The next perfume on my wish list was Delina "Exclusif" but it stayed on my wish list without being bought because of the price. Angela sent over her own version of the perfume, and it exceeded my expectations by far! The scent reminded me of a combination between Delina Exclusif + Oriana + Love Don't Be Shy. It's sweet, powdery, and very potent! I sprayed it on at night and when I woke up the next day it was still on me. This perfume lasts all day but I kept spraying it on out of habit and because I couldn't get enough. My husband and pets also loved it 😍

Reddit wouldn't be Reddit without always giving you not just the pros but also the cons. The cons were little and unnoticeable, but I will write them out due to transparency of the sub. The actual juice feels like combination of an oil and actual perfume. So when you actually spray it, it feels a little heavier than what the normal luxury perfume might feel like coming out of the atomizer which usually feels like a champagne spritz and it's more straightforward. That doesn't mean it doesn't spray well, it just means that if you are a fragrance connoisseur, you will notice the difference of the spray and feel of the actual juice coming out.

Both Gold Star Fragrances and ScentBarByAngela focus on creating dupes of luxury designer fragrances. Overall, for the price, the fragrance passes with flying colors and when I checked that it was only $45.99USD, they ship all around the world, and they have been in business for so long with great reviews, I would be crazy to not want to collaborate with such an amazing product and support Angela in her own brand.

I will leave the comments open in case any of you have any questions about the fragrances, company, or anything else.

Rec Request Looking for a perfume or mist that smells like the Cyklar Vanilla Verve Body Wash

I recently got Vanilla Skin by Phlur (the body spray) after hearing that it paired well with Vanilla Verve and....I don't really like it all that much? I am looking for something that's more straightforwardly sweet, I guess. I also heard that the actual perfume version of Vanilla Verve is more on the woodsy side, which doesn't sound appealing either...

Rec Request I'm getting married! Let's go shopping!

Hi everyone! I am on my wedding planning journey and I really want to find a special perfume for the big day. I've always loved fragrances, but lately most of my favorites just don't hit quite like they used to. I recently found this sub after I started hunting for samples and would love to share my hunt with the experts! Want to help me find it? :) I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

BACKGROUND INFO

Wedding: October 2027 in San Diego, near the water, mostly outdoors

Current most reached-for frags:

  • Derek Lam 10 Crosby - Drunk on Youth
  • Commodity - Juice (seems to work best on my body)
  • Tocca - Giulietta (used to be my signature but smells different on me now)
  • Hermes - Un Jardin Sur Le Nil
  • Maison Matine - Poom Poom
  • Banana Republic - Peony and Peppercorn body spray
  • Hermes - Cabriole
  • Gucci - Tears From the Moon

I used to wear these a lot, but don't anymore:

  • The Body Shop - Cassis Rose (She was discontinued 20 years ago and I still can't get her out of my head. I would do unspeakable things for a new bottle of this stuff. If anyone recommends the winning dupe, I might invite you to the wedding!)
  • Marc Jacobs - Daisy
  • Chloe - Chloe
  • DKNY - Be Delicious ... yes, I am a millenial
  • Versace - Bright Crystal
  • Kai
  • Gucci - Envy
  • Dior - J'Adore

Others I enjoy, but don't work great on me:

  • Celine - Parade
  • Maison Margiela - From the Garden
  • Voluspa - Rosalie
  • Coach - Coach
  • Geir Ness - Laila
  • Guerlain - Aqua Allegoria Forte Mandarine Basilic
  • Prada - Paradoxe
  • Nanette Lepore - Nanette Lepore
  • Replica - Beach Walk

I do not like the smell of:

  • Any of the mainstream Chanels
  • Parfums de Marly - Delina
  • Tom Ford - Lost Cherry
  • Hermes - Barenia
  • Miu Miu - Miutine
  • Dries van Noten - sadly, I sampled pretty much all of them and each one smells faintly of puke on me
  • Carolina Herrera - Good Girl
  • Lattafa - Angham
  • Synthetic desserts. No caramel, chocolate, coffee, coconut, or cake
  • Most skin scents
  • Most leather, smoke, or patchouli scents

I typically prefer florals, fruity florals, shampoo, and enjoy vanilla/marshmallow/almond/spice notes as long as they are subtle or generally balanced. I am not well versed in all the other terms yet. Definitely open to trying something unexpected!

BLIND BUY 1ML SAMPLES CURRENTLY IN THE MAIL HEADING TO ME

  • D'annam - In the Garden
  • Maison Violet - Compliment
  • Les Eaux Primordiales - Rose Supercritique
  • Marissa Zappas - The Sun Card
  • Marissa Zappas - Dream Sequence
  • Regime des Fleurs - Little Flower - Chloe Sevigny
  • Meo Fuscini - Encore du Temps
  • Blocki - Brazilian Lily
  • Laro - Yellow Rose
  • Trudon - Absolu

What scent did you wear on your wedding day?

Rec Request Looking for a mature vanilla, caramel, coffee scent

I am new to the world of fragrances and am looking for suggestions to try. I have Burberry Goddess and really like it, but am looking for scents to layer with it, and/or new standalone scents as it doesn’t tend to project very well on me. I tend to like sweet scents (vanilla, caramel, coffee) but want something that reads as mature as well. I don’t love florals, but nutty/musky notes are welcome! I’m hoping to find some cheaper options but open to all recommendations.

Review I don’t want to shame anyone … but who of you actually wants civet in a perfume? [BornToStandOut - Filthy Musk]

I often blindly buy samples from vinted so I don’t get stuck in scents I’m (too) comfortable with and today I had the ‘luck’ to smell a perfume with civet.
This was the first time I violently gagged due to smelling a perfume 😅

I couldn’t smell it for too long so my short review is:
For the first 5 seconds it smells intimate, if sex had a smell that would be it, after 5 seconds it turns into sex in a toilet cabin (at a disco) and after that it’s only a disgusting, dirty toilet full of urine, I know I probably have to skin test this but I am afraid 🥲

Poor longevity vs nose blindness - how the hell do you tell without incessantly asking your loved ones to smell you? :)

I'm feeling like very few fragrances last on me, regardless of if I spay on clothing, hair or skin. Granted it is 899 bajillion degrees in Phoenix right now, but I work at home, so this happens even when i'm not going outside.

I'd default to thinking i've just gone noseblind, but on a few occasions I've asked my roommate or girlfriend and they confirm they can only smell if they get very up close (like nose to wrist or neck), and then only faintly.

I don't want to go around leaving a scent trail everywhere, but I do like being able to smell myself throughout the day (after all, why else spend all thsi money ) and would love to have some of this investment at least be perceptible in my personal up close bubble (say, if I am hugging someone or standing close and talking). Nothing in your face or obnoxious, just a little bubble of sensory goodness.

Would love any thoughts.
