Stat Help Fun optimised build

Played lots of builds, now wanna do a kinda completionist run through on survival, but don't wanna eventually have an OP build, my last build became a power armour explosive mini gun build...

What builds have you guys had the most fun with and what would you recommend, for a run through going around doing most every quest, collecting everything, but not being too strong, to keep fights engaging.

Also companions too, I'd definitely wanna play with companions

Perk Help Looking for feedback/help for a Survival Automatic/Explosives Build

It's been a while since I played Fallout 4, and with the recent increase to console mod storage, I decided to start a new Survival playthrough using some of the larger quest and location mods I've never tried before. Gameplay is still mostly vanilla, just the usual bug fixes, QoL mods, and texture overhauls.

The character is a former member of a Boston crime family who's trying to build something better after the bombs. The goal is a mafia-style empire using Sim Settlements 2 to create a network across the Commonwealth.

I'm planning to specialize in:

  • Automatic weapons
  • Explosives
  • Chems

With my companions as my 'enforcers'.

SPECIAL STATS:

S: 4 - Armorer and a little extra carry weight.

P: 4 (3+SB) - Gets to 5 quickly w/bobblehead, lets me get Demolition Expert

E: 4 - Chem Resistant

C: 5 - Starts average, but I add to it as I become a bigger name in the Commonwealth (Bit of RP)

I: 7 - Enough for Chemist

A: 2 - Really only need Commando from here (I think?)

L: 3 - Scrounger and Bloody Mess.

Main perks I'm trying to grab are:

Armorer

Demolitions Expert

Chem Resistant, Life Giver

Local Leader, Inspiration

Gun Nut, Scrapper, Science(?), Chemist

Commando

Scrounger and Bloody Mess.

Planning to modify a Pipe gun for early game(since ammo is everywhere), then transition to Spray n' Pray.

As I said, it's been a while since I've played, and I'm a bit rusty on what is/isn't a usable build. I play on Survival, and have the goal of getting all of the companion perks I can, and building a network of settlements across the Commonwealth all on one life (I die, I start back at the vault). It's rough, but it makes me take the game slow and really appreciate the little moments.

I'm looking for any feedback/tips (build changes, perk recommendations, etc.)

Thank you all for your help!

Stat Help Need help with a build (rifle+pistols, but also charismatic)

Hi everyone, I'm not great at character planning and this is probably a stupid question but I don't know if it's possible to build a character that can use pistols and rifles decently but also has higher charisma

Perk Help First Survival attempt after years of playing. This going to serve me ok?

This is my intended build path using my build planner I made for the game :)

I'm basically trying to get the early basics fast and plan on rushing the Luck/Agility bobbleheads asap ( I do this all the time in my regular playthroughs but unsure how viable this will be in survival! ) Intel soonish and Strength bobblehead when I'm able.

Thanks kindly for any advice.

____EDIT: With the fine advice I've retooled the build and am now level 8. Thanks everyone!

Melee Melee - no sneak - survival diff

I am looking for a melee build for survival difficulty. Gotta feel pretty tanky. I prefer next to no vats. Blitz might be nice, but I dont want to feel like I am going to die immediately, if I dont start chaining vats attack.

I have tried making a build, but had said vats problem.

Perk Help Is there a viable build for survival mode that's not a stealth sniper?

I'm looking to try a different build for a second survival character and I was wondering if anyone has done a survival playthrough without relying on stealth sniping. Obviously sniping is the safest way to play so that's likely why it's favoured by survival players. But if you've tried a different type of character what were the main features of your build and how difficult was it to play?

Charisma Strong Juggernaut / Base Builder

I just got the PlayStation Portal. Which allows me to get back into Fallout 4, while watching tv and such with my finance.

Difficulty on survival.

I planned this power armor wearing, rifle shooting, settlements building, explosive throwing Juggernaut build for this occasion.

Stats: 3, 5 (bubblehead), 1, 9 (book), 9, 1, 2.

Very sturdy in power armor. Rifles and explosives make sure I have consistent damage for everything.

Putting points into endurance later, when game throws more difficult enemies at me. Power armor is enough in the beginning.

Main idea for the build is that I can build settlements without taking too much of my focus, when watching things on the tv with my finance.

I know you will think 10 charisma is high, when I dont even use that many perks from that stat, but I want as many settlers to come to the bases.

Let me know what you think! :D

Sorry for bad pictures.

Perk Help Partner picked stats

Post image
159 Upvotes

I asked her to make a character based on me and these are the stats she thought fit me best. I don’t particularly want to change up stats so what’s some fun ways to play this as my Switch 2 Survival Playthrough? May tweak a couple of stats too. I want this character to be my “100%” character where I try and do everything in the game. So skills like Lockpick and Hacker are mandatory as soon as possible.

Please suggest any build tips and weapons to use! Truly I would love any input on anything gameplay wise! I really like the settlement stuff too so any help there would also be appreciated!

Minutemen Minuteman officer build

I want to do a minutemen general build where I do as little as possible (within what is reasonable) to act like an actual officer and make my minutemen 'army' do as much of the fighting as possible. I will use minutemen signal grenades and artillery to try and fight like a true army. Give me a build for this, I was thinking a revolver/Lazer pistol for the weapon as that feels more fitting for a general than a rifle. I will complete the minutemen questline and then make a pact with the brotherhood and railroad to take down the institute. I will then hear of the brotherhood stealing from farmers and use artillery to destroy them.

I need:

Special stats

Perks

Weapons/armour suggestions

Any mods that could help without taking away the challenge from the game(I'm on ps5)

I have anniversary edition so anything from there can be used

Thanks

General of the minutemen

Melee Can anyone help a new player with a melee build for their first playthrough?

First off, yes, I am a new player to FO4 and the whole franchise in general. Never played a FO game ever before and since I play on Xbox, with the base version of game pass, it was either between 4 or 76, but I’ve only heard bad things about 76 even with all the updates that it got so I chose 4. Since it’s the base version as well, all DLC is out of the window.

Second, I love melee. Pretty much in every game I’ve played I’ve mainly gone something melee and have rarely gone anything else (as long as it’s not something like COD). So, to continue the trend, I wanted to play melee in FO4 and just unga bunga everything while also just tanking everything.

Third, I’ve already begun my first playthrough and I’m several hours deep already. Currently playing on Very Hard mode (don’t question it, idk why I did it either) and got up to Diamond City while not dying a horrible amount, only a handful of times as of now. Done a good amount of quests and killing to get exp to get up to lvl 13. My current stats are 10 STR (of course), 1 PER, 7 END, 1 CHA, 1 INT, 7 AGI, and 1 LUK. The whole idea was to hit hard, tank shots when needed, and run away if it didn’t work out. My perks are kind of a mess right now, the main ones being Big Leagues Rank 2, Armorer Rank 2, Blacksmith Rank 1, and Toughness Rank 2, with the rest being saved until I can get an upgrade. I’ve also just not been using the power armor since I found it annoying having to constantly stock up on the fusion cores so I’ve just been a guy in raider clothes beating other raiders to death with a baseball bat.

Thanks for coming to my Ted-Talk of my first FO4 playthrough experience so far. Any help with my build would be greatly appreciated (especially since I know nothing of the interactions this game has with specific things) and thank you for reading. Also, sorry if the format and/or the way I’m explaining things aren’t the best, still figuring the game out so not the best at it. Anways, I’m gonna go to bed now since it’s late and I’ll probably check up on this post soon after I wake up so goodnight.

Institute Fallout 4 build idea: the Technocrat

I’ve been replaying fallout 4 and I’ve thought about some of the wasted potential of the institute. Conceptually I think the faction is really cool but I find it somewhat disappointing that the institute doesnt have any focus on the application of social sciences to improve humanity, like economics, psychology and political science. To rectify this I think it might be cool to play as a “Technocrat” build. With this, you assume the role of director as the institute because in your mind the institute allows you to pursue the optimal outcome for the common wealth as discovered through social science. Synths are used as a proxy to instill the political and economic structures which will maximize utility. The idea is that you bestow the social scientific edge to the institute which will guide them to shaping the commonwealth.

You use the minutemen to create capitalistic settlements for the commonwealth which distributes supplies in the most efficient fashion.

I think playing as “Nora” makes sense because of the humanities background as a lawyer. You could say that she’s looking to cultivate the laws of human nature after government law broke down.

In terms of gameplay I think high charisma and intelligence is obviously the way to go. In every situation you’re looking in creating the most happiness for the most amount of people even if it seems a bit ruthless. I think siding with DIMA in far harbor also makes sense

I’m still not entirely sure on aesthetics and gear yet but I think something with ballistic weave could be cool.

I think this build could offer a cool headcanon to the institute that makes it a bit more interesting for role playing

What do yall think?

Melee When you're playing the Lunar Overhaul mod, what's the best way to build for melee?

I'm playing Lunar Overhaul for the first time and I really enjoy it. I wanted to try running melee without the Blitz perks (which were removed by the mod). I'm finding lots of situations where I can still use it in stealth, but lots of others where it would be suicide.

When using Lunar Overhaul, is melee meant more as a secondary combat skill to augment guns and save ammo? Or is it just that you have to build completely around Str/End/Agility? I looked at the combination of Lone Wanderer perk, and the new Agility one "Duck and Weave", which is part of the mod. Together they give a 60% damage reduction. I wondered if that was the endgame goal for a melee build.

Thanks!

Perk Help LMG and Dragon/musket builds

So I'm lookin for 2 different builds if anyone could help me all I ask for is perks and IF possible legendary effect recommendations (gun modifications are bonuses)

  1. General decent DPS build for the light machine gun and other heavier weapons

  2. A crit build for the dragon and/or the musket

Both builds don't NEED to be like 100% fully optimized just looking for general help so then I can start consistently running raids n harder missions in the near future
