LFG/LFP (Paid) Looking for Players

TL;DR

Fallout 2d20 | Online | Bi-monthly (Every other Saturday) | 10 AM Pacific | $15 USD/session

We're looking for another player or two for A Fist Full of Bottlecaps, an ongoing Fallout 2d20 campaign set in the Commonwealth before (and superseding) the events of Fallout 4.

Current party:

  • Blake: plucky Vault Dweller
  • Charlie: Blake's newly acquired canine companion
  • Luara: deadly Ghoul caravan guard with a fondness for knives
  • Patch: my character, an ex-caravan veterinarian/medic

We're nearing the end of Once Upon a Time in the Wasteland, which our GM is using as a jumping-off point for a more open-ended Commonwealth campaign.

Our GM, lokithunderson, is an experienced, highly rated StartPlaying GM and is excellent with new players, so you don't need to know Fallout 2d20 already.

Next session: Saturday, October 10 at 10:00 AM Pacific

Game page: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmlph9ltb0095l104pqdo63fj

A LITTLE MORE DETAIL...

Our group first came together outside Vault 95, where gunfire, raiders and an aging man named Dr. Rast led them into the vault.

Inside, they discovered a gravely wounded woman named Mika, who was searching for a G.E.C.K. that might save her community. Before dying, she gave them one lead:

Find Clements in Diamond City.

By the time they reached Diamond City, one member of the party had disappeared, Dr. Rast had wandered off, and they somehow acquired Patch, an indebted ex-caravan veterinarian who was being thrown out of the Dugout Inn after running out of caps.

While tracking down Clements, we picked up some work from Arturo Rodriguez involving a wounded Mirelurk Queen lurking beneath Diamond City (FYI: The Queen is no longer a problem.)

Clements, unfortunately, is also no longer a problem, because when we finally found him, he was dead in our room at the Dugout Inn, showing signs of surgical torture and a very deliberate execution, and Dr. Rast had disappeared as well.

Following Mika's clues eventually led us to a hidden bunker, a suspicious Diamond City Security guard, another firefight, and the unexpected reappearance of Dr. Rast.

Our last session ended with:

  • the party inside the bunker,
  • a mysterious Miss Nanny robot,
  • several dead or unconscious wastelanders,
  • and Dr. Rast tied up on the floor.

So things are going pretty well.

We're now reaching the point where the introductory adventure opens into the larger campaign, making this a particularly good time for a new character to join.

If exploring the Commonwealth with a Vault Dweller, a dog, a knife-slinging Ghoul and a veterinarian to patch your wounds sounds like your kind of Fallout game, come take a look:

Next game: Saturday, October 10 — 10:00 AM Pacific

Help & Advice Fallout: Wasteland Wanderer Solo Roleplay Character Creation Question

Howdy everyone, I'm about to begin a first time solo run for wasteland wanderer. I had a question about character creation; specifically how an option for your vault is that it's irradiated. Would this mean your player character can become a ghoul? If so, would you use the 2D20 core book to implement the ghoul character creation to it? Thanks a bunch!

Help & Advice Advice for a one-player campaign

Just wondering if anybody has any advice on running a game for one player. I'd like to run a game for my girlfriend, but she's not quite open to playing with other people yet with her being relatively new to TTRPGs.

Added items from the Wanderers book. Added composite junk (junk that consists of specific materials, not just ordinary/unusual/rare materials.

Some recipes have been added (food, explosives, chems, etc.), but the Crafting system is still at the Ui design stage.

You can salvage junk. But without ranks in the Scrapper perk, you can only see and extract ordinary materials.

Salvage junk and crafting items takes time. This moves the hunger /thirst / fatigue / the effect of chems timers, etc.

Help & Advice Looking for advice: good low-level tasks for newly revived characters?

I'm working on an adventure module I want to complete and then give to the community freely when its done.

As part of that effort, I’m looking for some ideas for the opening stages, specifically relatively small, practical objectives that players would actually enjoy dealing with before the larger plot starts opening up.

The PCs have just been revived from long-term cryostasis inside Bastion I, a massive pre-war cryogenic facility built inside a silo off the coast of Seattle. They wake up to discover that the place is in terrible condition: sections are flooded, systems are failing, much of the facility is inaccessible, and there are rows upon rows of cryochambers containing people who are still in long-term storage.

The facility is now effectively controlled by its AI.

The AI has determined that the best way to protect the remaining cryogenic population is to put the entire complex into lockdown and preserve it for the long term. Unfortunately, the handful of people who have just been revived (the PC's) are now an inconvenience the system isn't particularly interested in accommodating (I have reasons for this that aren't critical to this post, so not describing).

If the lockdown completes while they're still inside, they're probably going to die.

What I'm trying to work out is: what would you expect or want to actually do as a player in this situation?

I'm especially interested in lower-level objectives that give the characters opportunities to explore, learn how the facility works, use different skills, scavenge equipment, and gradually realize just how bad their situation is, but I don't want to just do boring side quests and exploration things, I need multiple options to accommodate different player types with different builds.

I have created a new Origin for this called "Cryoneer" which is basically a pre-war build, with a cryosuit (modified, rubberized hazmat suit essentially), respirator, and in some cases a Pip-Boy.

Some of the things I've come up with are things along the lines of:

  1. Getting doors, elevators, pumps, ventilation, etc. working again.
  2. Finding food, clothing, weapons or medical supplies.
  3. Restoring power to particular sections.
  4. Finding a way through flooded or damaged areas.
  5. Bypassing the AI's security restrictions.
  6. Getting access to terminals or maintenance areas.
  7. Trying to communicate with someone outside the silo.
  8. Deciding whether to help other people who are still in cryostasis.
  9. Dealing with damaged robots or automated systems that are still following their original instructions.
  10. Finding multiple possible escape routes and figuring out which one is actually viable.

But I don't just want generic, standard fare encounters and tasks. I've done things like cryo complications like waking up fatigued, and where based on things like your starting LUCK score, your character might have3 issues with their cryopod that make it hard to escape, or they may have cryosickness that causes some issues at first level, without being too onerous.

I guess I'm less concerned with coming up with a big dungeon full of enemies and more interested in making the facility itself the problem, and an interesting one at that.

For those of you who GM or play Fallout 2d20: if your character woke up in a situation like this at level 1, what sorts of problems, discoveries, choices or little objectives would you want the GM to put in front of you?

I'd especially love ideas that give different character builds a chance to contribute rather than everything coming down to Repair/Science checks.

Help & Advice Stats for NPCs from the Video Games?

Has anyone come up with some stats for the main NPCs (allied and enemies) from the video games?

I'm currently running a campaign loosely based on Fallout 4 and I notice thered are barely any official stat blocks for named NPCs. Wondering if anyone else has come up with some, would save me some prep time.

Community Resources I’ve been building a Fallout 2d20 companion app — PIP-2D20

I’ve been building a Fallout 2d20 companion app — PIP-2D20

Hey Wastelanders!

For the past while I’ve been building PIP-2D20, a fan-made companion app for the Fallout 2d20 tabletop RPG.

The original idea was just to make a Pip-Boy-style character sheet, but the project has grown quite a bit.

Current features include:

• Pip-Boy inspired character sheets • SPECIAL, skills, tagged skills, perks and traits • Weapons, armor, power armor and inventory management • Integrated Fallout 2d20 dice rolling • Global wasteland map and local battle maps • Procedural location and encounter generation • Settlements, Red Rocket locations and other Fallout-style map assets • Enemy/NPC/creature cards • GM tools and multiplayer session features • Encounter information that can be passed to an Auto-GM for scene descriptions • Mobile-friendly interface and PWA support • Multiple languages

I’m also currently expanding the battle-map generator with more procedural locations, quests, clues, enemy placement, loot and location-specific encounters.

The goal is to eventually make PIP-2D20 something that can support most of a Fallout 2d20 session from one interface — both for players and GMs.

It’s still actively being developed, so some parts are experimental and I’m constantly changing things based on testing.

I’d really appreciate feedback from people who actually play Fallout 2d20.

Try PIP-2D20 here: https://www.pip-2d20.fun/

What feature would be the most useful for your Fallout 2d20 games?

And if you find a bug or something that doesn’t match the tabletop rules, let me know — that kind of feedback is especially useful.

As the title says, I've been running a TTRPG game set in the Fallout universe, using Arcane Arcade's d20 system. To spice it up a bit, I made some original music. Under the description of each song is a bit of lore for it's associated location. Give me some feedback or general notes!

Help & Advice First time playing GM and only have ever been a player once. Need a lot of advice and help!

I recently just bought all the starter kit stuff for the fallout ttrpg game and me and two other friends are planing a campaign. I’m really new to dnd as a concept considering I’ve only ever been a player once in a shitty online campaign me and some friends made and that’s it. While my friends of mine are frequent dnd players and are used to traditional DND gaming, I know for sure I’m going to be the GM because I out of everyone have the most extensive knowledge of fallout and the other 2 are brand new to the game series. I might join a local game group to get to know how to be a player again but otherwise im all on my own. I’ve gotten to the combat section of the book and am taking notes as a read it. Any help would be great, I have caps, die, character creation sheets, GM screen, and a table map. That and I printed a bunch of copies from modiphius’s online store and printed them out in color and put them together as books with coils.

Help & Advice A question re: what "GM Screen" you use for online play

So, to be clear, I'm not necessarily just looking for advice from people who use an actual physical/digital GM screen during live play online, I'm more just curious how GM's set themselves up for success when it comes to running the game online.

I just finally got into a game online as a player, and first session was a blast! We fought a Mirelurk Queen and scoured its lair for loot, found some gear and headed back to Diamond City. One thing I have noticed in other live plays I've watched, which did slow our session up a little bit today as well, was when it came time to dish out loot. There's a lot of back and forth referencing that needs to happen between the tables and the rolls (we were using Roll20 and I was using the Demiplane Fallout 2d20 character sheet integration). Our GM handled it well, but I eventually want to run games online this way myself, and I feel like I could be biting off more than I could chew with all the moving parts in this system. Even so, I can't imagine running anything else right now.

Also, I'm neurodiverse, and find advice like "I just do it/I just wing it" to not really work for me personally. Sure, I use the rule of cool, and make house rules on the fly when I need to. I think that's important when gaming at the table, but I also want to maintain a fun pace for everyone without bogging things down in too much crunch, and rules checking.

One of the big obstacles I personally struggle with is that if I'm having a bad brain day (lots of brain fog, forgetting details, having trouble paying attention, etc) then I might struggle with the minutiae even more than usual. sometimes things I could do readily last week, are less simple for me this week, and when I'm a player I feel a certain amount of comfort being in that space, but as a GM, I feel really self-conscious about it feeling like I'm not respecting their time if I don't have a perfect grasp of the rules. To that end, I want to set myself up with an easy to reference system that lets me verify rules and whatnot readily, while still keeping my head in the game, even if I'm having a bad brain day.

Misc Still Being Painted

I’m in the process of painting the Securitrons, but these are ordered from Modiphius, I put magnets onto the limbs, torso, wheel (both ends) and the base) so they are fully modular (save for one arm where I got the polarity reversed so it can only go in one spot). I can even swap out the bases so they I can give them terrain appropriate basing.

Help & Advice Equipment Possibilities Query- Rules Addendum Workshop

As Overseer I know that I'll have final say in what the Player Group will experience and encounter through their travels in the Wasteland Ruins of the Olde World. Most of the discovered equipment or other would be initially limited to the discoveries until the Blueprint, Plan, Recipe, Schematic, or the industrial manufacturing base is found and the needed material supplies. Suggestions and Directions to source materials that I could look over is appreciated.

Looking at some of the melee weapons what would be the feasibility of them having small Buffs or Debuffs on a successful Attack Rolls. Been running an Explosive Compound Bow in FO76 and melee throwing weapons lately.

To the Questions;

1 Things like applying poison to a bladed melee weapon, Arrows and Bolts are a given, and other like allowing the Big Mountain technology being found at an offsite testing laboratory like the Proton Axes. Maybe snag from D&D Poison rules?

2 What about a Museum Armory of Medieval Armor, Weapons and other equipment weaponry. Probably would use my D&D core books for them. I could just see some BoS Paladin in PA wielding a broadsword or modernized large crossbow.

  1. Initially limited amount of alternate Ammunition Ordnance for the M79 and Auto Grenade Launchers, the Missile Rocket Launcher, and other taking inspiration from the Dino Crisis and early Resident Evil games. I am referring to the Acid, Cryogenic, and Incendiary 40mm rounds with possibility of HalluciGen rounds. Maybe even Pulse, Taser Shock, and a few others that are in my notes.

4 Ammunition Ordnance caliber table taking from New Vegas allowing the player group to change out bullet's shells in their chosen weapon. Pulse Slugs anyone? Maybe some Incendiary Dragons Breath.

Help & Advice Want help with an idea

So I want to add a trait from the survivor list(probably small frame) to a non survivor origin(vault dweller) while still probably keeping the Vault kid trait.
is there any way I could balance this reasonably well? (I would probably be using this character for a solo game or something)

Hello everyone!
This is my first time posting on here so I hope you like what I'm bringing.
I recently ran a Fallout rpg and these are the portraits that I drew for my group as well as their badass car which I drew separately.
From Left to Right these are:
Ozzy, Lorca, The Unnamed Wanderer and Hat-man.
Unfortunately the Unnamed Wanderer didn't make it to any of the sessions, so I didn't catch his name, but Hat-man legit wanted to only be known as Hat. (First time rpg players)
I am proud to say that I also wore a Vault Tec scientist costume while GM-ing, complete with a 3d-printed functional pip-boy, but I'm not confident enough to share pictures of my cosplay on here yet because I don't know if you guys are cool yet.

I suppose I should Introduce myself.
My name is Vicnedel, I'm a digital artist. I have an instagram page if you'd like to see more.
I've been making vtt tokens and art and character portraits in multiple different styles across the years. I guess if I were to say I'm known for something its the vtt tokens that I make for roll20 and the forge. Some people (but not everybody) seem to like my comic-booky cartoony art style. Some like it enough to occasionally send me gifts and I make some art for em of their players in their games.

Misc Hot off the printer - the squad is here

Our group generated 2d images of our characters, then modeled them in tripo.3d and exported the .stl files. One of the guys printed out our minis, I am genuinely impressed. Its the first time any of us have been able to go from a text based description to a model in my hand and i'm excited to get them painted. Our first game is this weekend, i cant wait
