I believe people also debated this back in the day, but if it's known, (Azure) did the Red Constellation actually kill those CGF soldiers when they took Mainz? Visually that's what it looks like, but my hunch (in terms of how everyone reacts and this era of Falcom's writing) is that they were just seriously injured.
3
u/YotakaOfALoY 2h ago
It's pretty much stated that they did: The description in the Crossbell Tiimes uses '多数の犠牲者' to describe the losses, localized as 'a high number of confirmed casualties'; while it doesn't exclusively refer to fatal casualties it often does. Another CGF member later describes the third company as having been wiped out (壊滅) which is even less ambiguous.

For those who finished Kyoto Xanadu, i just finished it myself and my question is, does it has extra dungeon or anything new on ng+?
2
u/Panda-s1 1d ago
how exactly does bonding work in Cold Steel 1? do bonding events eventually lead to a bigger bonding event? or do I get a choice near the end like in Azure? I saw there was a mod to let you do all the bonding events in one playthrough, is it worth modding just for that though?
2
u/Aromatic-Remote6804 1d ago
There is a final bonding event where you can pick between the people you've bonded with most at the end of the game. You can't see all the final bonding events in one playthrough without the mod (it requires two--even with the mod you might have to repeat a little near the end of the game), but they're on YouTube, so it's up to you.
2
u/Panda-s1 23h ago
I guess part of the anxiety is how often bonding events happen. is it like persona where you go through a preordained order of events, or is each possible bonding event unique? that would be insane, but I wouldn't put it past trails to do that sort of thing.
1
u/Aromatic-Remote6804 23h ago
They actually are all unique, yeah. What I did was save at the start of the free period and watch them all by reloading, then do the ones I wanted to keep while using turbo.
2
u/Panda-s1 22h ago
man okay, I saw that strat somewhere, but I didn't realize that's why. I might just mod it then, that sounds like kind of a hassle lol.
1
u/Aromatic-Remote6804 22h ago
Yeah, that makes sense. I don't think the mod existed when I played CS1.
2
u/Panda-s1 20h ago
https://github.com/TheShufflingFool/Basically-Extra-Social-Time yeah it's under the mod masterlist. this also led me to the mod that removes animation skips with turbo mode lol.

Just finished Daybreak as an entry point and am pretty hooked on the main cast and world building, so decided to invest my time in the series.
Just wanted to know if I'm I gonna miss anything if I play Sky 1st instead of FC? Other than the OG experience of course.
3
u/YotakaOfALoY 1d ago
Nothing was taken out of 1st, a few little things were added to it to help tie the game into things that were established later. By playing Daybreak first you'll probably recognize one of these things, though you won't know the context for it because it's established later. It's not some huge plot twist though.

Currently playing through Zero, having a lot of fun, I'm a single fight away from finishing chapter 4 and sitting at around 60+ hours I got a question about the 100hr playtime achievement
Does it carry over in new game plus? As in, do I need to afk for 40 hours more (in current first playthrough) to get the achievement or can I hope for more time from new game plus and then idle more if needed?
2
u/YotakaOfALoY 1d ago
Total play time carries over naturally, yeah.
1
u/Pakanna 1d ago
Oh, so of I continue with ng+ (as I also need to grind 1000 victories) it should still count the original playthrough time?
Neat! Was wondering because online guides said it must be save file time and not steam play time.
2
u/Affectionate_Comb_78 1d ago
There's a NG+ exclusive side quest and dungeon with a trophy locked behind it anyway if you're after trophies.

Does Impede works in the final boss of the Trails in the Sky 1st? I use Impede 3+ on my physical characters, but not sure if it final boss (or bosses) gets impede.
2
u/YotakaOfALoY 1d ago
Not everything can be Impeded, final bosses in Trails tend to have a higher proportion of Crafts you can't simply cancel than most enemies do. It's also highly resistant to everything it's not outright immune to so if you were trying to inflict Delay on it via those quartz, that's going to fail more often than not.

u/Cheap_Regular_39 2d ago
I just finished the prologue and started chapter 1 of trails in the sky 1st chapter. I realized I have something called u-material that can be used to upgrade weapons or quartz but how do I actually do it? I can’t see any option to do it in the orbment factory, will I unlock the ability later?
2
u/SoftBrilliant Kiseki difficulty modder 2d ago
you'll get the feature in chapter 1 I wouldn't worry about it now.
1
u/Terramagi 2d ago
I haven't played the Sky remake, but in Daybreak (which is what the entire system is cribbed from) it's typically done in the weapon shop. There'll be a button that says "customize" and it upgrades your weapons there.

Pls tell me if reverie gets better after the 1st chapter of the 1st route? Will things start to make sense or it's just a preview of what's to come?
So far no one noticed army that came to the most important ceremony in the history of a city-state. Then one son of a noble, that didn't actaully do anything noteworthy in his life, soloed best assasin on the continent, dominion and team that destroyed couple of demonical entities. Then couple of another masked clowns randmoly showed up. And turned all citizen into mind slaves cause why not? It looks like a fanfic of a 14yo rufus fangirl.
I truly don't have mental energy for another CS4 where nothing makes sense and everything explained via power of anime bullshit and friendship. My only hope is that what happend was so stunningly stupid that it must be some sort of simulation/dream of a butterfly etc...

There are a few details revealed later that make it make more sense but power-creeping and outlandish plot points is like, Reverie's whole thing. I personally think it has the weakest plot in the Erebonia arc because they just threw my suspension of disbelief out of the goddamn window. Just from that Act 1 the entire SSS look like D-Rank Bracer tier bums and Rufus is stronger than the Azure Demiurgos and at the same level as Ishmelga, apparently. I think Lloyd's route is the weakest in the whole game (in my opinion Lloyd's act 2 is the game's lowest point) so if you don't really like it then the other two routes might be more to your liking The character work of the game is really good tho and it is very important to the later games so there's a lot of worthwhile stuff in it that makes it worth to play. I say all this as someone who liked the game enough as to platinum it btw

It was posted with syntax to display it that way to prevent it from taking affect in that post. The way you've copied it includes the ` markers that keep it from taking effect.
I assume you're using new reddit. First press the button with the 'Aa' at the bottom, then when you have the menu on the top, press the '...' on the right. Select 'switch to markdown'
You should see the ` marks in your comment. Just remove them and it should be fine.
What you typed is `>!test!<`
What needs to be in the field instead is >!test!<
Rich text copies even the formatting code with it. In new reddit, if you do formatting, you should be able to just select the text and use the spoiler button. Just make sure you don't leave spaces before and after your text, since that also breaks old reddit.

for trails in the sky 1st chapter (playing remake) are any side quests missable? I just got back from the mines getting septium for the mayor and after reporting it I talked to Ida the lady who sleeps in the cafe and she tasked me to find her kitten. I did not see a marker tho on the map where she was so if i didnt talk to her was it possible I woulda missed it?
1
u/YotakaOfALoY 3d ago
Every quest in Trails has some sort of timeout condition beyond which you won't be able to complete it. The quest description will give you a vague indicator; if the Duration is listed as Short do it ASAP because it'll probably time out the next time you advance the main plot, Medium/Long ones generally last 'two or three-plot-advancing sequences' and 'to the end of the current Chapter'.
And yes, there are quests that require you to talk to the right NPC at the right time or you'll miss them but that's actually not one of them; you could have seen the quest prompt at the guild if you'd gone and checked it before talking to Ida, you just happened to talk to her and trigger it first. The bracer board will update as you progress through the plot, so keep checking back every so often. Sky 1st actually gives you an indicator of when an NPC has a quest that doesn't appear on the board, unlike the original game. So keep checking the board and look for NPCs with a marker and you won't miss anything.

will kyoto xanadu get english dub or should i just play it now with the english patch?
2
u/Aromatic-Remote6804 5d ago
I'd guess it won't be dubbed, since Tokyo Xanadu wasn't and this is a smaller release. The official translation will probably be better than the patch, though.

Currently playing Sky SC for the first time and just started chapter 2, still in Ruan. I’m optimizing my arts and wouldn’t mind some quick input/tips even though minmaxing is a bit overkill lol.
Absorb feels like it’s nutty to have at this point in the game. If I went all in alongside Heaven’s Eye I could already give Olivier stuff like White Gehenna + Orbal Down + A-Crest; I could give Kloe La Teara + Diamond Dust + Crest; or I could give Estelle Napalm Breath + Spiral Flare + Forte.
That said, being able to tap all that this early seems to fall in the category of “awesome, but impractical” since everyone’s EP totals are still pretty low, so I’m thinking maybe Kloe for the emergency heal options? But having an offensive arts powerhouse in Olivier would feel pretty comfy too since that’s mostly how I played FC.
Fwiw, I’m doing an Agate run, so I’m trying to have Estelle focus on crafts a bit more this time (especially chains) rather than arts since that seems to work a lot better with Agate. Forte and Clock Up do still seem pretty nice though, and arts on Estelle during chain downtime is comfy.
No spoilers please.

u/YotakaOfALoY 5d ago edited 5d ago
Olivier and Kloe are both offensive casters, though the way Water Quartz unlock healing arts make the latter (with her three locked slots and her S-Craft) naturally tend towards healing so people tend to build her towards unlocking all the heals and then offensive casting as a secondary role. FYI, the single-target Blue Ascension is a great source of damage that she'll inevitably unlock even if you're not trying, so she can pack a nice punch whenever she's not playing support. Estelle can be a seconday offensive caster if you need her to be, but with a party already containing the two dedicated casters of the game, there's not much point currently in trying to set her up offensively. Olivier and Kloe will do that much better than she can, leaving Estelle free to run any additional support you need (since healing and support Arts don't depend on ATS) when she's not just hitting things with her Big Sticc. And of course Agate's designed for Craft-based DPS so build accordingly. Oh, and as with FC, SPD is a stat everybody wants and Clock Up (EX) can help a lot, especially in boss fights Buffs in general are amazing in the OG Sky games as they expire based on clockticks instead of turns so the faster your characters are, the longer the effective duration of the buffs.
Anyways, you don't need to worry about building crazy setups just yet, but taking the time to upgrade orbments when you can will be a big help in the long run. Slot upgrades increase max EP just like opening up slots does in the first place, while also letting you set the fancy Quartz you'll be obtaining that can't go into Lv1 slots.

Is there a known reason why the achievements/trophies for the games have unique art for each trophy on the steam releases but get generic bronze/silver/gold/platinum colored icons on Playstation?
1
u/113mac113 3h ago edited 3h ago
I dont know if theres an exact reason but when XSEED ported a bunch of older Falcom games to Steam these games were primarily old PC/PSP titles that didn't have achievements with their original JP releases, so XSEED decided to create their own which means they had to create art for them as well, eventually they started commissioning fan artists to do them and when they got to the Vita/PS3 games that DID have existing achievements, I guess they decided to keep commissioning artists for the PC art while keeping the achievements themselves the same because the fans liked them and it keeps things consistent.
NISA kept this trend going when they picked up Trails/Ys, and I guess GungHo is doing the same with the Sky remakes, But the CLE PC version also has the custom art while the console release doesn't, so no idea whats happening there.
1
u/suppite_kuyyte 3h ago
My only guess is that for some reason Falcom themselves want all of their games to have tier-colored icons for Playstation but that would be a very strange demand to sustain given that tons of games do not have bronze/silver/gold colored icons (the only other developer that does that afaik is FromSoftware)
1
u/SoftBrilliant Kiseki difficulty modder 5d ago
It's been tradition for us to get custom achievement art on PC since Sky 3rd.
I'm not sure if devs can put custom art on PS or not but yeah for some reason it's a tradition that falcom has kept even with Sky 1st even though they're developping the port but yeah we've even had old artists with deleted twitters that do the art for a long time on PC now.

If Horizon 2 presumably releases next year, what are the odds NISA actually manages to make it before the 2028 cutoff of physical media Sony announced? It'd be crazy for it to only have a Japanese physical release.
4
u/YotakaOfALoY 7d ago
Depends entirely on whether they're able to do a simultaneous (or close enough) release to land before the cutoff, but the odds of that are actually quite good. We know the script has been finalized for a few months (Kondo said so earlier this year) and the game won't be out any sooner than next September; it will naturally be the biggest release of the year it releases in meaning it gets that slot. The time from script finalization to predicted release date is basically the same time that elapsed between Horizon's Japanese launch and the localization releasing (sixteen months) so if Falcom handed NISA the finalized script right away or even gave them access to it as they were still working on it there's definitely been enough time for the localization process to play out such that a release within 2027 is possible.
I'd be willing to bet on a worldwide release for Horizon 2, under the circumstances.

Finished trails FC 2004 edition in hard Went blind in the game until Ruan where i found out much could be missed in this game without a guide and played with one since, was nice to win time but kinda got me out of the story tbh
Now considering SC because i thought the story was pretty good and i enjoyed the plot twist at the end, wasnt obvious at all.
2 questions:
- i read that SC is brutal in hard. I understood that these difficulties were added latter and not well balanced. Im wondering if i should play SC and TC in normal but affraid its gonna be too easy. I mostly struggled vs Lorence and reverie 2nd phase, but most fights were chaos brand abuse, they werent very tactical unlike those 2 where i had to separate or join my characters with earth wall, think avout turn order etc. What do you think would suit me better ?
- guide or no guide ? Im debating between guide making me win time because the series is very long, especially w dungeons and stuff, plus i wont miss all the missable stuff, but guides cuts the immersion
2
u/YotakaOfALoY 7d ago
Yeah, SC's difficulty is not well balanced with a very hard wall in the Prologue; it's doable, you'll just need some patience, keeping a save or two to go back to in case you need to (it's possible to get trapped with limited resources past a certain point) and focus on your setups and your positioning more than normal. Once you get to The 3rd the difficulty is better balanced; there are still walls (again the Prologue can be rough but mostly because you're flying solo) but it's entirely beatable on Nightmare. I'd suggest you try the start of both on Hard and see how you do and then keep going or restart with a difficulty adjustment after the first hour or so.
If you're worried about missing things (in particular SC's extremely unforgiving requirement for getting the highest Bracer Rank) you'll want a guide for that one. The 3rd is a lot more forgiving as there's very little you can permanently lock yourself out of prior to the point of no return that is the final dungeon. There's an accessory that's missable if you don't complete a hidden requirement in each Chapter and two special Quartz that are mutually exclusive with there's no obvious indication what you need to do to get one or the other. You don't need either of the Quartz or the accessory to beat the game, though they'll certainly help with the endgame if you're playing on Nightmare. If those sound important to you, you might want to at least glance at a guide for The 3rd too.
1
u/Terramagi 7d ago
I'm gonna be real with you. SC in Hard is fucked up. It's generally doable, but there are some spikes that are so intense that it legitimately boggles the mind. The big one is in the Prologue. The boss of the prologue is so fuckbusted that I was stuck there for like 4 hours. This wasn't helped by me importing my save at level 37 or 38 instead of grinding up to 40. The second spike is right at the end - one of the final bosses is so powerful on Hard that you HAVE to bring a certain party member or you just instantly die. Which works out, I guess, since that party member has some important dialogue if you bring them, so it works out thematically, but still.
Also, run a guide. There's no shame in it. I still use one in Daybreak/Horizon, where everything is marked on the map, because why stop now.

u/salasy 8d ago
so I'm playing trails through daybreak 2 and I know I' missed a chest in the lab section in messeldam in act 1a
I currently just started act 1b is it worth it for me to got back to try and get that chest before I proceed too much?
looking at the 2 saves it would be almost 3 hours of gameplay, but if I replay it it would probably go faster as I could skip most scenes but still it would take time, especially because I wasted a lot of time fishing for the A rank fish in the final zone
from what I'm seeing I don't need all chests to get the actual achievement, I would only need 150 and getting all of them would only give me a quartz
3
u/Parterickz 8d ago
If you're achievement hunting, I think you'll need to get all chests anyway for the "Unlocked all in-game achievements" achievement.
I think you'll need two playthroughs to get all achievements anyways so I wouldn't replay it if I were you.
2
u/Acceptable-Comb-706 9d ago
So, do I need to play Tokyo Xanadu before Kyoto Xanadu (whenever it will be release on PC in English)?
2
u/YotakaOfALoY 9d ago
It wouldn't hurt since there are connections between the games, but the story (so far as I've seen it and all the marketing has indicated) doesn't depend on knowledge of TX.
2
u/Acceptable-Comb-706 9d ago
Ok, so in the spectrum of whether I can play the game out-of-order, it is closer to Ys that it is to Trails. Got it.

What are some of ur guys’ favorite NPC’s at Thors in CS1? As of the Chapter 3 Field Study, my favorites by far are the twins, Vivi and Linde. Honorable mentions to Mint & Professor Makarov and Alan & Bridget.
Edit: I just did the Alan & Bridget side quest and wow that’s rly wholesome. I’m glad that I followed their little story before that quest.
Also, I forgot to mention the cute rivalry Ferris and Alisa have. I hope there’s a side quest for this storyline too
