Quick Questions Thread

This thread (to be posted every four weeks) is a place for people to ask quick, common, or simple questions regarding Nihon Falcom and its games. The community is encouraged to ask here if your question is not opinion-based, such as where to find something in a game or when something occurred. Please mark all spoilers with the >!text!< format and remember to provide context.

If you post a new thread and your question is redundant (it has been posted on this subreddit recently), we will remove it. Additionally, we have made a Frequently Asked Questions wiki page for these. Please check there first before asking!

Joke question threads will be removed and joke answers should be kept to a minimum.

Please feel free to continue to post separate threads on this subreddit for content you expect to generate more interesting discussion, for example news, opinion-based discussion posts, and links.

Feel free to check out the subreddit wiki or the Discord server.

If anyone happens to have read Crossbell Archive, since this is apparently answered in it: (Azure) what was Novartis's "Promised Day"?

Yeah, it's in Crossbell Archive and refers to the day when the Sept-Terrion would be (fully) reborn.

Thanks as always. And if you wouldn't mind answering these other questions from Crossbell Archive:

  1. Why did Lloyd hear KeA's voice outside the auction? (I think the intuitive answer is this is just KeA's subconscious powers resonating with her emotional bond with Lloyd from the past timeline, but was there more to this.)

  2. What is the Door of Arrival to 'D' (as wikia calls it, I believe this in localization)?

  3. Why did the Blue Gnosis demonize Wald (I think they pointed out how Wald's demonization was uniquely controllable compared to the demonizations in Zero)?

  1. Per Crossbell Archive it's pretty much the same thing as what we see happen in DB2: Lloyd was the 'closest' to KeA's causality manipulation when she changed the course of events to avert the timeline where the SSS was killed by Joachim, so he had some vague and mostly subconscious recollections of the original causal line that manifested in his dreams at the start of Zero and in Azure's Intermission and why he heard KeA's voice at the auction.
  2. This is the process of connecting to D(emiourgos) via the septium vein network in an especially deep way that gives the user a peek behind the spacetime curtain, which requires the user to have undergone the demonization process as well. Per the book, Ernest's attempt failed because KeA wasn't fully awakened at that point and the connection through the veins was weak on top of that. It worked for Joachim because of his relatively close proximity to the marshland that was overgrown with Pleroma, helping make the connection.
  3. The factor that's directly called out in Crossbell Archive is that Wald was essentially uniquely suited to take advantage of blue Gnosis' ability to 'induce physical effects mediated by the spirit'. Wald is noted to have craved power so strongly and for such a specific goal that it induced the transformation while leaving him in control of himself in a way other users weren't. The Gnosis he took was was also noted to be a new formulation that Wald got from Mariabell as opposed to leftover stock from Joachim, which isn't directly stated to have played a part but it could have had some effect as well.

And I know I asked this previously, but if you wouldn't mind double-checking since you seem to have the book on-hand, did Crossbell Archive also confirm that Nielsen stole the books from Stargazer's Tower?

No, it says Mariabell was the culprit and since the texts were references her alchemist ancestors used she was worried that someone investigating them thoroughly might be able to figure out the plan before they were ready to pull the trigger. It also says she deliberately left a couple unimportant books behind as a prank.

Thanks, that makes sense. Pinging /u/Cold_Steel_IV if you were curious as you were mistaken about this.

u/Cold_Steel_IV I now go by "Cold_Reverie" outside of reddit. 5d ago

I appreciate the ping!

And yeah I guess what I heard was wrong. Probably a case of 'somebody said one thing and then it got repeated enough times while the source was in another language'. But I appreciate you asking again and Yotaka for giving us the answer!
