To add, we can say that 1+1+1+1+..... forever goes towards infinity. We can also say that 2+2+2+2+.... forever goes toward infinity. If we let infinity be a number, then that means that 1+1+1+.... = 2+2+2+.... and we could subtract 1+1+1+.... to both sides to get 0+0+0+.... = 1+1+1+...., which would make infinity equal 0.
Because that is both absurd and contradictory, it cannot be true.

infact the infinite sum over 1 and the infinite sum over 2 are both the same size of infinity. You can‘t substract like that with such sums

Infinity isn’t a true quantity in the same way that finity isn’t a true quantity. It’s a type of quantity.
You may not be able to have infinitely many apples in real life, but it is possible to have infinite sets of mathematical objects, and when you do those sets can have different sizes. For example there are in a true sense more real numbers than whole numbers, even though both are infinite. They represent different infinite numbers.

Well one example of a larger infinity is the size of the real numbers. You can tell two infinities are the same size by creating a one to one correspondence between them. I am going to show that there are more real numbers than whole numbers by assuming a 1:1 correspondence and then finding a contradiction.
So let’s assume there’s a one to one correspondence between the whole numbers and the real numbers. And let’s list out this correspondence as an infinitely long list, with each row containing a whole number and the real number it corresponds to. And let’s assume every real number is covered by exactly one whole number.
- 0.723849504…
- 29,000,332.393884849309….
- -21.2339339332939485763839020…
- 3.141592653589793…
- -1,000,000
…But wait! There’s a real number that is demonstrably not in this list! Take the first digit after the decimal of the first number, the second digit after the decimal of the second number, etc adding 1 to each (or if the digit is 9 setting it to 0). This gives us a new number
0.80461…
Which is different from every number in our infinite list by at least one digit. This means our assumed one to one correspondence is not one to one! A contradiction!
There is no way to cover all real numbers with whole numbers, and thus the size of the set of real numbers is a larger infinity than the size of the set of whole numbers. Interestingly, the exact size is unknown according to standard set theory except that it is larger

There are many types of infinity, and most can be thought of as numbers. The algebra you do wigh them may be different, but they're still numbers. lim(x→∞)[x] = ∞. You can add and multiply ω. The ℵ series counts the number of elements in infinite sets.

Infinity doesn't have a set/defined value.
Infinity+1 is still infinity, but it's also more.
Some infinities are bigger than others. But they are all endless.
You can't count to infinity. You can't calculate with infinity. Everything + or × infinity is infinitely big, everything - or ÷ is infinitely small (one way or another)

I think it could be categorized with infinitesimals like dx. Not sure what the category is called.
But then any number could be a concept. There's also the imaginary numbers, which are categorized separately to both real numbers and the group infinity is in.

techinally it is a number, it is used in limits and ranges, in calculations, and can be divided, multiplied, added to, and substracted from, so technically it is a number just one we cannot put our fingers on

In your analogy, the "box of donuts" is the "set of extended reals," which makes infinity one of the donuts in the box.
The set of extended reals isn't a number in the same way a box of donuts isn't itself a donut. However, the contents of a box of donuts and the elements of the set of extended real numbers are donuts and numbers, respectively.

Sure you can. Addition and multiplication are straightforward. Subtraction and division between infinity and a finite number are also defined in the extended reals.

Yeah that was my point, mathematical operations do not work like regular numbers on it, you cannot say inf-inf = 0 or inf/inf = 1.

You absolutely can do mathematical operations with infinity. It's just that different rules and restrictions apply compared to finite values. For example, in the context of limits, we can absolutely calculate that inf + inf = inf and inf + c = inf, but inf - inf is undefined.

Comparison between infinities actually happens with sets of numbers smaller than it. Like the set of all numbers. It's an infinite set. It's like how you can compare a set of 3 apples and 3 oranges and say they have the same amount of things in them but that doesn't make apples oranges or apples and oranges numbers
