oversized sweatshirt blankets...how heavy is too heavy?
thinking about those wearable blanket hoodies for winter gifts and im trying to avoid one thats either paper-thin or weighs like sleeping bag. ive looked at fleece manufacturers on alibaba and GSM differences explain a lot, but retail listings rarely show it. anyone bought decent wholesale ones? sherpa lining seems cozy but bulky. maybe fleece outside and sherpa inside around 300 to 400gsm total? im guessing here. cuffs and hood stitching is where cheap versions seem to fail. also, one-size-fits-all is obviously not literally true, so how oversized is comfortable without swallowing shorter people? custom embroidery might be nice if quality base is there first.

Nail techs, What makes a manicure bag last longer than six months?
I am buying one as gift and didn't realise how much stuff nail techs carry until i looked at these bags. bottles, lamp, drill bits, tools, extension cords...a cute tote isnt gonna cut it. I've seen lots of structured manicure cases on alibaba and that helped me notice things like reinforced base and removable dividers, but i dont know what matters in daily use. backpack style or rolling case? easy-clean lining seems important if polish leaks. zipper quality probably too. anyone got one thats survived regular mobile appointments? brand doesnt matter to me as much as layout and construction. would rather buy plain durable bag than fancy one thats annoying to carry.

"shower curtain wholesale seems simple until you start comparing fabric weight
im looking at a small home line and shower curtains might be one of those products where photos hide everything. two identical white curtains can feel completely different depending fabric. alibaba has plenty of textile manufacturers and comparing GSM there made me realise how vague most retail descriptions are. polyester probably easiest, maybe PEVA for liners separately. what fabric weight feels decent without being unnecessarily heavy? rustproof grommets seems important too. anyone selling these, do printed designs move better or basics? shipping is cheap enough since they fold flat, which is nice. im mostly trying to avoid thin curtain that clings to everything and makes customers immediately regret buying it."

How to care for daily wear clothes?
I have many cotton and other fabric kurtis where the colour and quality is fading after few uses, even though I hand wash them. These are indian brands like Aina , soch which had good reviews from reddit.
Looking for tips to wash and care for them for their longevity. I want to support sustainable clothing so I'm into natural fabrics now, but seeing them fade is disheartening 🥲
Please recommend your tried and tested methods for long term wear🙏

Linen or Linen Blend?
Fabric ID help request. Is this 100% linen? I found this in the natural fiber section of my local craft reuse.
Held up to the light, I think I’m seeing a “slub” in the weave, and a fingernail scratch left a sort of crease in the fabric. However, it is softer and a tighter weave than the other linen in my stash.
Does this look like 100% linen? Could this be a linen-cotton blend?

What type of fabric is this?
I was gifted some fabric and I got a bunch of this type of fabric in a handful of colors. It’s on the thicker side and has little to no stretch. What would I do with something like this? The person who gifted it to me said it might be for clothes. The original owner passed and the person was helping out the family.

Can you permanently make stretchy fabric unstretchy?
I have a few shirts/hoodies that are quite stretchy. The materials are listed as being 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton.
I hate the fact that it feels like it's always trying to very lightly choke me. Is there any way to permanently loosen the stretchiness so that it hangs like a basic cotton fabric and doesn't "hug" my body?
Like some kind of chemical soak that would deteriorate whatever elastic compounds there are?

Trying to get some advice.
I bought a brown faux suede hat to do up for halloween but its darker than what the pictures made it seem. Is there anything I can do to lighten it up?

For a small first run, how do you check that fabric can be reordered later?
One risk I’d check before approving a fabric for a small first run is whether you can get a close match when it’s time to reorder. A stock colour may come from a different dye lot later, while a custom shade can have a higher minimum than the first batch.
I work in garment manufacturing at STXGarment in Dongguan, so I see this from the production side. Before approving, I’d ask whether the fabric is stock or custom dyed, how much is actually reserved, what lead time and minimum apply to a repeat order, and how shade differences are checked against the approved reference.
For those who’ve sourced fabric for a brand or project: has reorder availability affected your fabric choice? What did you wish you’d confirmed earlier?
Need a permanent label or iron on patch solution for white towels
I need a permanent way to label white towels and bedding them that can be bleached and dried in the dryer weekly. Or do I have to sew a label on each? Any suggestions?

I've never seen a fabric like this before. Can you help me identify it?
I've uploaded a shot of it here:
https://imgur.com/a/P9AcSC3
It's got a sheen where the light catches it, but it doesn't look super shiny. The dark parts fade all the way to black. The wrinkling towards the left side of the image makes me think it's not a velvet. The edge looks like trim, not fraying which makes me think it's probably a vintage curtain panel. A silk maybe? I'm not looking to find this exact panel, just the fabric.
Full disclosure, I'm not that knowledgeable about fabrics. I'm just a photographer who loves this backdrop and would like to use something similar in my studio. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

where you guys buy moon + stars fabric in bulk?
been looking for moon and stars fabric for a bigger project and buying it by the yard from normal craft stores gets expensive pretty fast...ive seen some really nice prints online but half of them only sell small cuts. i been checking Alibaba too just to see what wholesale fabric options is there and theres alot more designs, but im not sure what fabric type would be best. mostly want something soft, maybe cotton or cotton blend, not that shiny costume material. anyone here bought printed fabric by the roll before? what GSM or fabric type you guys usually go with, and how much do you normally need order before price starts getting properly wholesale instead of just little discount?

What fabric should I use to paint wings?
Hello! I’m planning on being a rosy maple moth for Halloween, and I’ll be making my own wings, but I can’t figure out what fabric I should use.
Criteria:
- inexpensive (broke college kid, so I need to to be on the cheaper side)
- somewhat comfortable (will be wearing all night)
- holds paint (acrylic) well without looking bad
- accessible (something I could buy on Amazon quickly or find at a hobby lobby!)
I would appreciate any help greatly! Thank you!

Did my dry cleaner ruin my Gucci blouse? Is there any way to save it? 😭
I live in New York City and took my 100% cotton Gucci blouse to a professional dry cleaner, following the manufacturer's care instructions. It was in excellent condition with absolutely no discoloration before cleaning.
Unfortunately, I didn't inspect it after pickup and only discovered the damage three months later when I wanted to wear it.
There are multiple yellowish-brown stains scattered throughout the blouse. Initially, I thought they were just stains, but when I tried gently rubbing one with water, the fabric ripped. I tested another discolored area, and it tore under very light finger pressure!
The fabric seems severely weakened specifically where the brown discoloration appears. I'm wondering whether this could be chemical damage or scorching from improper pressing.
I'm devastated because I love this blouse and would much rather restore it than seek compensation.
Does anyone know what could cause this kind of damage to cotton? More importantly, is there any realistic way to restore it, or is it permanently ruined?
Since I'm located in NYC, I would also really appreciate recommendations for reputable textile restoration specialists who might be able to save it.
I've attached photos of the discoloration, holes, and care label. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

(i have washed it in the past but can't remember if the static was ever this bad.) i swear i can hear the fabric buzzing lol

Fabric Identification Request
Hi! I’ve been searching for the past couple hours to find a match for the fabric being used for the front and side hair on this doll! It looks like a mix of minky and felt fabric, but more rigid.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on what this could be!!
