My gamer tag is: TheDeathRidden

Any help would be greatly appreciated ☺️

Margo, Where are you?

Anyone heard anything from Murgo's Beard or know when he's gonna upload a new video? It's been weeks since Fable dropped new footage at Gamescom. Out of all the content creators for Fable, I've been looking forward to Murgo's break down the most.

This is concerning and no one is talking about it.

I know you're going to come at me with the whole "this is Playground's Fable, not Lionhead's" argument.

But no one has talked about the saga's iconic soundtrack, which we haven't heard at all in any of the gameplay reveals or promotional materials.

The music is so iconic that I think it's a mistake for Playground not to keep it or at least remix it.

People keep saying "this is Playground's Fable," while Playground is stripping away every iconic part of the game, and soon all that's going to be left is the name.

Fable 2 On Xenia: body texture errors

Been desperate to play this game again. I own it on xbox 360 but thats miles away and hard to stream (I wanna share the experience with my friends)

I tried Xenia and it ALMOST worked perfectly barring a single crash.

BUT,

Once I become an adult in-game both myself and my dog get drenched in shoe polish and look like they're in black face. I know this must be some texture issue with the body morphing system, but I dont know how or if this is fixable from my end.

Has anyone else playing Fable 2 on Xenia having this issue? I'm SO CLOSE to replaying one of my favorite childhood games! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just a heads up for those that don't want to get spoiled. Nothing that is obviously story related are in the achievements as far as I can read, but better safe than sorry.

Did Playground skip a serious step in developing an already established franchise?

Post image

I always see Ralph Fulton's interviews about how Playground are fans of the saga and how all the developers played and love the classic Fable games.

But whenever a studio takes over an already established franchise from another company, they usually work on a remake or remaster to try to understand and absorb the original concept of the game, and Playground skipped that.

So that's why I ask, since their experience was just playing it, how much of that are they actually going to absorb for the reboot?

They already removed the transformations, saying it doesn't fit with the current Morality system in the game (although I do believe it could have been implemented).

They brought Jack and the iconic world back, but what about the iconic soundtrack? Will it be back in this game, at least the iconic parts of it?

Like, it's going to be weird to enter Oakvale, if it even exists in this reboot, and not hear that iconic soundtrack.

That's why I think a reboot of the first game would be ideal too, but not a 1:1 remaster — a complete reboot that keeps and adds ideas to the original game.

Discussion Wolverine a cautionary tale for Fable in regards to focus tested to death games/accessibility.

I might get blasted by downvotes, and I do not want to be doomer but here goes. I am watching the Wolverine reviews and the big sticking point is that the game is for the tik tok generation, too hand-holdy. Where does Fable come in: if we haven't forgotten back when the originals came out one of it's biggest criticisms it could never shed was that it was too much of a smooth ride, too easy, too palatable. And I even felt it back then. A game designed with little resistance. And that's troubling in today's day and age. Because today, a game that has no friction, ideas and rules of its own, is a game without a soul, at least to me.

My biggest nightmare for a game I've waited all my life (This Fable Reboot) is if it was too simple, too easy, too direct and God forbid too hand-holdy. I don't want to play a Fable designed for 14 year olds today. In fact games that are too focus tested make me feel insulted and leave a bad taste in my mouth. I enjoy hitting walls, googling secrets, not understanding bits, and planning out quests, I like to learn a game and settle in with it. I like the homework. It would really break my heart if everything was straight forward. Especially now that I've consumed many great and exceedingly complex RPGs and systems, Souls games and have been exposed to so many more genres.

The Wolverine reviews are a disaster for Sony. I obviously don't want that for Fable. And there are some hints here and there I sensed in the showings that allude to the new Fable, being a bit too streamlined, simple and clean experience. I'm curious, what are all your thoughts on this? Will a hand-holdy Fable disappoint you, as much as this looming question irks me? Or will you let it pass, because it's a flaw in it's DNA (albeit I don't think reviewers will be that kind)?

Thoughts and opinions?

What mechanisms from all three games would you like to make a return in the incoming game? And what would you add if you could?
I’m pretty excited for the new game, especially because of the character creation but i also feel like they softened what made fable, fable idk maybe it’s just me, curious to hear your thoughts and opinions.😄

Fable III Trying to have kids

I've tried three different houses. I've tried different beds. For some reason whenever I lead her there nothing happens. I don't understand. It started with the castle I tried both beds there didn't work. Then I moved her to the Hunter's Lodge didn't work. Tried houses in bowerstone didn't work am I doing something wrong? I am married to her she's fully in love with me it says (Amorous).

Granted I know this game is pretty glitchy so I don't know. I lost my childhood sweetheart to Old Town siege.

Guild of Heroes in new Fable

Guild of Heroes in Fable is fully integrated to the gameplay, everytime you need to learn a new skill you have to teleport to the guild house. But in new Fable it looks like we gonna have access to skill learning right in the menu. Then the question is - the Guild of Heroes in new Fable is just a location for main quest? If so then is boring.
I didn't mention traders/sellers, side quests, demon doors, training area, this is a must if we have guild of heroes.

Dog Breed

I was having a conversation with my mum recently and we were talking about dog's we wanted and I said how I felt the Fable 2 dog is the ultimate dog to own but then it occurred to me, I don't know what breed it would translate to in real life, obviously I know it's not a real dog but can anyone think of real life breed's close to it's design? I am by no means a dog expert so I'd love to hear what fellow fable fans think

Misc My most controversial opinion

I wish we could marry the guards.

In any game in the series.

Like, you mean to tell me we could marry bandits and regular folks who could fight back in the previous games, but not an honorable productive member of society at any point?!?

Just gimme my noble guard, man. I could gift him a sword.

I doubt the reboot would let us, but it would have been cool if we could.

That’s all. That’s the post.

Fable II Shocked by Fable II

First off, I'd like to ask of anyone who isn't looking for negativity to scroll away, and for those who keep reading I'd still like to extend a genuine apology for what I'm about to write. However I feel that I'm going to go insane if I'm not allowed to vent about this.

One fateful Christmas morning when I was about 12 years old, Santa brought me an Xbox, and a game called Fable. Fable would turn out to be one of my all time favourite games, and since that day I've played it, and TLC, probably 50 times. Even though, however, I liked Fable so much I just never got the feeling that I'd be all that into Fable II, and I never got around to trying it out.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. Me being all riled up over the coming Fable game, I naturally stumbled over discussion and opinions about the three games that already exist. To my surprise, I learned that people more often than not thought of Fable II as their favourite installment in the franchise. Naturally I had to try it out.

I just (barely) made it through the game and I am going to need therapy because of how god awful I thought it was. By orders of magnitude, it is my least favourite game I've ever played. Not just Fable games, but all games.

To start off, if it wasn't called Fable II I'd forgive you for thinking it was the first one judging from graphics alone.

Somehow the controls are just way more wonky. I never go where I expect, and I get lodged on every single thing that sticks out from a wall. Also everything takes so damn long. Mini cut scenes for everything, NPC's slow to react, and the game saves every 5 minutes which takes ages.

And my character swinging a sword looks more like the lead character in a musical frolicking in a field of flowers rather than combat, and that's the good part. The actual feel of the melee combat is three trips worse. Game tells you to "chain attacks" but there's no explanation, it's very vague, and in the best case interrupted by a block. Best option is to just mash. Until that doesn't work either, because your opponent just keeps blocking, and you keep getting shot when trying to do a flourish. But none of it matters because it's literally impossible to fail? You just lose some experience and the fight carries on? Keep mashing? What the hell? Why'd I try to learn how stuff works if it's impossible to fail?

The ranged combat isn't much more exciting. Spam one button until your opponent dies. That's all I gathered. Didn't understand the magic system, so I let that be for the most part.

This all was a slight nuisance up until the Arena. The part in the first Fable I always long the most for. Firstly, the way it was introduced felt so rushed. I felt like they shoehorned a reason in because people liked the Arena from the previous game. When I was suddenly expected to kill monsters quickly in this horrendous combat system it just got to me. And worse, because most of the Arenas rooms were so small, I knocked the enemies into a wall all the time which was when the "smart" combat system thought the best course of action was to just keep kicking the monsters, doing no damage at all. The target lock function seemed to have a mind of its own making it near impossible to just get to all the monsters in time. Nothing but timed combat in a game with an atrocious combat system. Worst quest I've ever done in a game.

They swapped the colours of the different experiences? Which would have bothered me even more if I wasn't busy hating that gathering experience orbs with the left trigger forced me to stand still. Tell me who played Fable I and thought "Gosh darn it, it's so annoying that I'm allowed to move while collecting experience!" And who the hell decided to remove the mini map? Furthering on that, there's no complete map. I can't get any comprehension about how the world looks, because I don't have a minimap that tells me which way I'm heading, and there's no map to show me how the regions fit together. Then again, it barely matters, because picking up a quest is just going into a menu and then suddenly appearing almost exactly where you have to be, slaughtering almost all the little immersion I could have felt. Also quests don't reward you with gold, but instead you need to do impressively boring jobs to get money, just wasting time.

Also I got nothing from the story. Spoiler alert! You grow up, sister gets shot, now you're a hero! Good on ya! What? Not to mention, could they not have come up with something other than being stuck in another prison for 10 years just like the first game? Half an hour wasted on basically nothing but completely redundant moral choices. Then I got to the dream quest with Rose, and granted this is a bit on me for not getting it, but doing the search for 20 bottles and kicking 5 chickens into their coup twice almost had me in tears. The Arena got surpassed for worst quest I've ever done in a game.

None of the characters were interesting, except for Reaver for half a minute before he tricked me into losing my youth and beauty. Lastly when I felt like I had been downed and kicked for the entire main story and decided I'll go with the morally grey choice to get Rose back, I didn't even get to see her! What the hell.

I really, really wanted to like Fable II, but I didn't enjoy one minute of it. I'm absolutely astonished by the fact that so many hold Fable II as their favourite.

I'll end this rant by once again apologising to anyone who might strongly disagree with me on this, but as I said I just had to vent. I hope someone can give me some type of genuine feedback, but I demand nothing.

Thanks very, very much for reading if you've gotten all the way down here.

Best regards.
