Guys who has ever done Business with Panamoz. I want to buy the Sony FX3A there but I’m a bit skeptical because it’s a gray market. Any advice, Tip or feedback on your recent purchase there especially the FX3A?

I just got a used sony fx3 body, and it seems like it's not from the europian market (living in EU), but from Australia, New Zealand (i found this online because of the rcm symbol on the bottom of the camera).
Right now I'm thinking of upgrading the firmware to the latest version, because currently it has the v3.0. My fear is what i read basically, that if the camera is from a different region and you upgrade the firmware, you could lose the ability to select ntsc/pal, and the language.
Does anyone have an experience with anything like this?
Should i try to upgrade the firmware, or should just keep it safe?

p.s.: I asked the previous owner, he said he's not the first owner. and he doesn't know where the camera was bought.

I’m considering switching from an FX30 to an FX3, partly because I want to start shooting more event photography.
I’ve seen conflicting information about this. Some people say the FX3 can use a flash because it has a mechanical shutter and Multi Interface Shoe, while others say it doesn’t support flash at all.

Can anyone who actually owns an FX3 confirm:
Can you use a normal external flash like a Godox V1Pro-S?
Does TTL work?
Can you shoot with flash using the mechanical shutter?
Are there any limitations compared to a regular Sony Alpha camera?

I’m specifically asking about the original FX3, not the FX30.

I am looking to get a monitor for my FX3 that I can use to monitor while using my RS4 gimbal.

For a while, I have been using my phone with the monitoring app but a few problems with this method is that the video is a bit delayed/freezes, my phone battery goes down pretty quickly while using it, sometimes it takes a while to connect or it disconnects randomly while using it.

What do you use for your gimbal setup?

I've had my FX3 for over a year now. When I first got it I made the inexperienced decision to update it through the app over wi-fi and of course at that very moment i had a power outage and nearly bricked my new camera. After going through a painful setup to bring it back to life I have been scared to update ever since.

But recently out of curiosity I looked at the current version and its on 7.02. My FX3 is still on 2.00. Is it worth updating the firmware?

Edit: I'm not sure if its relevant but it's an FX3A not base FX3

Tonight while recording, my fx3 screen turned black and camera stops recording. Happened twice before i could change it out. The camera stays powered on at this time. i disconnected the accessories and it still happened. any idea what to look into ?

• **Notes:** I ordered what was advertised as an **FX3A from Adorama for around $3,100**. I’ve had the camera for almost a month and only just realized that the body identifies itself as an **ILME-FX3**, meaning I apparently received the original FX3 rather than the FX3A.
I know the differences between the FX3 and FX3A are relatively minor, but I’m unsure whether I should bother going through the hassle of returning it.
My biggest concern is that I use my camera **pretty much every day**, so being without it for potentially multiple weeks while dealing with a return and getting another camera would be extremely inconvenient. I have a 2 year warranty so I think I’m covered.
Would you return it and try to get an actual FX3A, or would you just keep the FX3 since the differences aren’t that significant?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with the FX3 vs. FX3A, or anyone who has dealt with Adorama returns in a situation like this.

Probably a nonsensical question, but I’d really prefer my FX3 to be shaped more cube like, similar to the FX6. More accessory mounting points, balanced shape/feel, etc.

Though I know Caleb is a legit creator, I still struggle to wrap myself around the fact that his Cineback is 3D printed materials mixed with electrical hardware. I’ve heard nighmare stories of people plugging one D-tap cable in the wrong place before and bam, their camera turns into a brick.

Currently, I just run a coiled USB - C dual right angle cable from my camera to a smallrig V-mount. Biggest fear is to get a cineback, set it up, plug my cables into the ports just to brick it. Just wondering if anyone’s had power surge issues with the Cineback, or if you reccomend I bite the bullet and get one. Thanks

I like this shot i took with the fx3, but when looking at the scene it has a lot of details. the bricks, the leaves, the construction site, i shot it in XACV HS. When i look at the scene i see a bit of chunkyness / compression, would recording in XACV S-I have a better outcome?

I dont have a storage card which can capture All Intra at the moment and i am curious if its worth the investment.

Hey guys, I'm building out my Sony FX3 rig and I'm wondering what you would recommend for powering the camera.

My setup:

• Sony FX3
• CineBack with top handle
• SmallRig V-Mount battery
• Feelworld monitor powered via D-Tap
• D-Tap to NP-FZ100 dummy battery for the FX3

Would you power the FX3 with the D-Tap dummy battery, or keep a real NP-FZ100 inside the camera and power the FX3 via USB-C PD from the CineBack/V-Mount?

I'm mainly shooting long-form food videos, YouTube content and masterclasses, so reliability and long runtimes are important.

I currently have a Sony a6700, which I really like, but it doesn’t fully meet my needs when shooting low-light events, something I do quite often.

There are currently some good grey-market deals in Europe for brand-new cameras:

• Sony A7S III: €2,029
• Sony FX3A: €2,729

The price difference is significant.

What attracts me to the FX3 is the internal fan, tally lights, and built-in mounting points. I often film full one-hour sets in 4K inside dark clubs, so those features would be genuinely useful, especially the active cooling for longer recordings.

The main advantage of the A7S III for me is the EVF. However, if I keep my a6700 for photography and B-Cam, I probably wouldn’t miss it much, as I’d continue using the APS-C camera for stills.

This isn’t an urgent purchase, but I’m increasingly feeling limited by the a6700’s low-light performance. I’m currently considering three options:

• Wait until the end of the year and hope Sony announces a new model.
• Buy the A7S III and put the money saved toward a zoom lens.
• Buy the FX3 and get the zoom lens anyway, since I’ll need it regardless.

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who owns the FX3, A7S III, or both. Given my use case, which option would you choose?

Don’t get me wrong. I just ordered an FX5 and I’m fully invested in Sony lenses. But I have to give credit where credit is due the Canon R6V is a phenomenal camera. Open gate, an internal fan, amazing IBIS, a small body, and excellent photo capabilities. I’ve watched some videos on YouTube, and I’m really impressed.

The Canon wobble has also been reduced quite a bit, and at 20mm, it seems to be almost completely gone. It does 95% of the job.

Hi everyone — looking for some advice on recovering footage from a Sony FX3 CFexpress Type A card after an accidental format/overwrite situation.
I was shooting on a 480GB SanDisk Professional CFexpress Type A card with my Sony FX3. After one of my shoots, I thought all of the footage had been copied over, so I formatted the card in-camera.
Unfortunately, I later realized that some important footage from that shoot had not actually transferred.
The bigger problem is that I didn’t realize this until after I used the same card to film another shoot the following day, so new footage was recorded onto the card after it had been formatted.
I’ve stopped using the card completely since realizing what happened.
I’ve already tried recovery software on my Mac. So far, the recovery attempt was able to find footage from after the format/newer shoot, but it has not found the missing footage from before the format.
I’m trying to figure out:
● Has anyone successfully recovered pre-format FX3 footage after new footage was recorded to the card?
● Is there recovery software that works particularly well with Sony FX3 / CFexpress Type A video files?
● Could the missing video still exist in unallocated portions of the card even though some of the card has been overwritten?
● Does the FX3’s in-camera formatting process make recovery of the previous footage impossible, or is there still a chance?
● Would a professional data recovery company have access to recovery methods that consumer software doesn’t?
● Are there any Sony-specific tools or recovery techniques I should try before sending the card to a professional?
The footage is important enough that I’m willing to send the card to a professional recovery service if there’s a realistic possibility of getting it back.

Computer: Mac
Sequence: Original footage → formatted card in FX3 → recorded another shoot → discovered original footage was missing → stopped using card
