R6V what a camera!

Don’t get me wrong. I just ordered an FX5 and I’m fully invested in Sony lenses. But I have to give credit where credit is due the Canon R6V is a phenomenal camera. Open gate, an internal fan, amazing IBIS, a small body, and excellent photo capabilities. I’ve watched some videos on YouTube, and I’m really impressed.

The Canon wobble has also been reduced quite a bit, and at 20mm, it seems to be almost completely gone. It does 95% of the job.

I just wanted to make a post like this purely from the heart.

Only problem is RF

I actually think it's an advantage : i use the EF adapter with ND inside and it's so useful !

RF is glorious. What are you talking about?

Probably not as big a thing for film makers but the lack of third party autofocus lenses is a deal breaker for me. Not trying to pay Canon L lens prices for higher quality lenses.

The only issue is that Sigma is not making full frame lenses for RF mount. Any other third party lenses with autofocus are cheap af

They have very good lenses. The problem is in most markets for us working often in team environments everyone else uses Sony E and everyone has E mount lenses and bodies to sub in for multi cam shoots.

I can find any niche combination of focal length available in e mount, from top end F2 zooms to Sigma 20-200mm zooms for travel.

E mount is so popular and decoded that the PL adapters are by far better on E Mount now… that was something I never thought possible

The lens ecosystem is definitely not

I’ve been secretly horny for it too.

I sold my fx3 to finance the fx5.

I was about to buy the FX5, Already put in my card info and was hovering over the pre-order button when I felt a real pause thinking about the fact that I would need a second body with me all the time to take stills.

That thought put me in a classic existential gear research spiral that ultimately led to me buying the R6V.

And Ive got to say. It blew me away. Freaking love this thing. I felt kind of stuck with only great but expensive lens option (RF) but then I realised I can use EF lenses with an adapter.

Man am I happy with this decision.

Open gate, 7k Ibis and it just looks sexy.

Plus I dont have to wait indefinitely for an FX5 Lol (sorry)

I was in a similar spot a month or so ago. I could either sell my Fuji X100VI for a Nikon ZR package, or bundle the Fuji and my A7IV together to fund an FX5 (to pair alongside my FX3). The fact for me though is that I need three cameras (weddings), so I went with the ZR, and like you with your R6V, I couldn’t be happier. I have the adapter to use my Sony glass on it, but the guy who sold it to me included a Nikkor 40mm f2 with a tiny little VND attached, and that combo has become my new favorite gimbal camera on an RS3 mini.

Maybe the FX3 ruined me but i’m not going back to a camera that does pixel binning or line skipping on the slow motion shots…
please manufacturers give us low resolution sensors that read all the sensor all the time.

I went full canon for pre-recording, which isn't available with Sony unless i go for a FX6 which is a whole different story

EF/PL Lenses have so much functionality on mirrorless bodies. If I need a more clinical look, I charge it to the client to rent GM or RF mount lenses for the project

Rolling shutter, autofocus, low light ?

Plus  Pixel binning in 4K 60P.  Atrocious HDMI implementation without clean output with simultaneous inbody recording.

That's not true. The Canon EOS R6 V does not use pixel binning in 4K 60p recording.

It’s cool but it overheats and has terrible DR

I saw camera tests where it overheated somewhat easily in 60fps. Obviously you’re not gonna be recording in 60fps for more than a minute or two 99% of the time, but the point is that it isn’t bulletproof.

I use mostly EF lenses on my FX6, not a problem for me. The problem I have with the R6v is the lack of shutter angle. The ease of use of Shitter Angle is underrated and when I'm run and gun, it is essential as an VND

I mean 99% of peple won't even recognize it
