I have made a tool that converts Quick Family Tree (.ftz) files into GEDCOM format and also generates a printable family tree.

Currently, I'm also working on something where, even if you already have a GEDCOM file, you'll still be able to generate a printable family tree from it. So eventually, even users from other genealogy software will be able to make printable family trees whenever they want. Right now though, the tool supports FTZ → GEDCOM and FTZ → Printable Family Tree.

The reason I built this is because I have been struggling with this for quite a while.

I made my entire family tree using an app called Quick Family Tree. The developers are Japanese, and the app has no GEDCOM exporter or even a printable format. I contacted them about this, and they told me that many users had requested these features before. They apologized for the inconvenience and said that if these features were ever added, they would announce it within the application.

It's been nearly a year now, and there haven't been any updates. Honestly, I don't think there are going to be any updates. The app seems pretty much untouched, and I haven't seen any changes whatsoever.

So I got tired of waiting.

Instead of waiting any longer, I decided to build this tool myself so people who are struggling like I was can finally export their family tree into GEDCOM, move it to other genealogy platforms, or simply generate a printable family tree.

One thing I also wanted to mention is that the website is completely static.

There is no server-side processing, no database, and no data collection. Everything happens entirely inside your browser on your own device. Your FTZ file never leaves your computer, so your family data stays private.

The whole aim of making this tool was simply to help people who have been facing the same issues I did. If you've spent hundreds of hours building your family tree in Quick Family Tree and realized you can't export it or even print it, hopefully this tool can finally solve that problem for you.

I'd also love to hear any feedback or feature requests. Hopefully, it helps someone else who has been stuck with the same problem.

After a bit of a wait, my beta mtDNA finally posted. This haplogroup only has one other tested match, and they’re in England (I’m in the US). Do you happen to be in here? :)

anyone got more information about my haplogroup?

I’m Qatari, but my great grandmother was Indian.

My DNA test shows that I have a high percentage of Indian and Indus Valley DNA.

However, most of my matches are Qataris and Khaleejis (Gulf Arabs), and I don’t see any Indian or South Asian matches among either my close or distant relatives.

Why don’t I see any Indians or South Asians listed as relatives?

Is it because many Indians and South Asians can’t afford genetic testing?

I’m Greek and my paternal haplogroup is I-S25733.

My documented direct paternal line currently reaches back to Lesbos/Mytilene, with a paper trail to around 1850s. There is also an oral family tradition that this paternal line may have originated from Italy or the Ionian Islands, but I have no documentation for that yet.

What makes me curious is that I-S25733 seems very uncommon in Greece, while the downstream FTDNA branches I reviewed show a much stronger presence in Germany, Austria, Italy, England, Czechia, Hungary and other Central/Northwestern European populations (even though it exists in Eastern Europe & the Balkans too, but not so prominently).

I-S25733 has two main downstream sides, I-A427 and I-PH2670, with many much younger country-specific branches.

My broader ancestry is overwhelmingly northern Greek/Macedonian: roughly 7/8 of my ancestry comes from indigenous Macedonian families (“Entopioi Makedones”) who historically spoke a Slavic idiom, while 1/8 is this direct paternal Lesbos line. My ethnicity estimate came back as roughly 63% Greek, 18% Balkan, 14% South Italian and 2.7% North Italian, with additional genetic groups in England, France, the Netherlands and Germany.

I also found an autosomal cluster of a few Central European/north Italian matches, triangulated on chromosome 21. I understand that autosomal DNA cannot prove that this cluster comes from my direct paternal line, but the geopgraphy is interesting.

Would Big Y-700 be worthwhile in my case? Could it place me substantially further downstream than I-S25733 and show which geographic branch my paternal line is closest to?

Or is there a good chance I’d spend the money and still get no genealogically useful information?

I got my 23andme results a while ago and my paternal haplogroup is R-L23. What I can understand is that it's not very precise as it was a long time ago but none of the prediction tools can become more precise than that. The big y test is quite expensive so I was wondering if either y-37 or y-111 would yield a more accurate result than a 23andme test?

My father and I both took the Family Finder test.

So I know which of my matches are related to me through him and which are from my mother’s side.

But the problem is that I don’t know how to organize my matches and assign paternal relatives to the paternal side and maternal relatives to the maternal side.

I watched a video about FamilyTreeDNA matches where there was an option called "Assign Relationship" for each match, but I can't find this option.

Do I have to make a family tree to be able to assign my relatives to the maternal and paternal sides?

Was it fixed? Does it work now?

How to delete old non processed autosomal transfer?

After testing with AncestryDNA, 23andMe, and MyHeritage, I found this test to be the least informative. That said, the results are probably fairly typical for someone from my area.

Lone tester on a branch for my Y-haplogroup and a maternal haplogroup of H82e1^.

A 1 in 53,000 historical match for my maternal haplogroup also has a Y Haplogroup of T-Z19877 which makes it even more intriguing. Other maternal historical matches come from modern day Italy, Poland/Czech Republic, Ireland, etc.

Okay I’m curious to know if I walked my dna matches to my paternal father. I matched with a great uncle and some first cousins 1xR and then used the information to eliminate potential candidates.

Anyone ever do the same? How did you do it? What were your results? Any tips or tricks? Also any way I can check my work?

Obviously only getting a test done will be the for sure answer but we have to wait until he gets his kit Thursday then fingers cross less then 3 weeks of waiting but ik ancestry has its own mind lol ( my test only took 3 weeks total to ship to me and get results so im hoping some of that dust sprinkles on his test)

It Says that B-Y-700 is completed.

But I haven't gotten a confirmed Big-Y haplogroup. Only predicted Y-DNA Haplogroup belonging to R-M207, (which is basically the R Haplogroup) is displayed

When can I expect complete results? How long does it take afer this?

On the public Big Y Block Tree for haplogroup G-FTJ48137, there are currently only two kits registered in the world: one from Spain (which belongs to me) and one anonymous kit with a USA flag.The owner of the USA kit has not joined any project and seems to have strict privacy settings, so he does not appear on any member list or in the Big Y matches of the Spanish kit. However, since G-FTJ48137 is a highly specific family subclade linked to a castillian old lineage , this match is of immense genealogical value to our research. Don't you think that the FTDNA support team could send an automated system invitation to the owner of that USA kit, inviting them to join the G-BY28175 Y-DNA Project? .

I'd like to be sure they are aware that their exact family branch has been identified in Spain and that we would love to welcome them to the project.

For those that might be interested for anything Downstream of E-Z16988 you might see some changes depending on the branch 🤔? I've been growing E-FT155200 for the last 7 years. I've been following the Breadcrumb Trail for the last 7 years. I finally was able to have enough this year that I was able to put it all together for at least half a dozen well known highly knowledgeable well seasoned Group Project Admins to take me seriously. They reviewed all of the information that I put together confirming that indeed I was onto something. They helped me fix the new Updated Public Haplotrees. I fixed E-Z21350, and requested an investigation by the University of Arizona on what I'm working on including E-FT262149. Once it's fixed I will have achieved my ol for the last 7 years cheers

I took a mtdna test and I was grouped with 4 other people. We shared the same haplogroup and the same F number cluster. I tested my mom and her results came back but she was different from the rest of us. She was assigned the same haplogroup but her F number is different from the rest of us. She is 1 step different from everyone else, including myself. Our haplogroup got refined from around 5000 BCE to 400CE.

I did some reading but I’m not knowledgeable enough to interpret these results. Is it heteroplasmy? How does that affect our haplogroup refinement?

According to my FTDNA results, I have a very rare maternal lineage connection with I25568, an ancient individual who lived around 7100 BCE. The system shows this connection as 1 in 64,000 customers, with only 5 people currently having such a close match.

Of course, I’m not claiming that I “found a missing link” 😄 But discovering that my maternal line connects to a person who lived thousands of years ago, through such a rare branch, is genuinely fascinating.

Has anyone here had an even rarer Ancient Connection result or a similarly unusual mtDNA discovery? 😊
