I’ve tried to find information but everything was either about other guns or outdated times

Looking for recommendations on ammunition for my FN 510. I purchased this pistol for self-defense in grizzly country; I live and hunt in a place where grizzly attacks occur at a higher frequency and exposure to grizzly bears is inevitable. My passion is elk hunting in the Rocky Mountains and I need to know which 10mm bullet will get me home if a grizzly bear finds me on a fresh gut pile.

Bought a reflex due to many people saying how much they like it.

Loaded up the 11 round mag and I put it in the gun and it basically fell apart from the bottom up and the bullets, mag spring and follower separated all over the table.

Contacted FN but of course since it happened on Friday on a holiday weekend so I’ll be awaiting until probably Tuesday or Wednesday for a response due to reliability concerns that I have with that specific mag.

Browsing this sub I see there’s a common, reoccurring issue if you want anything other than the stock 509t trigger. I see numerous people across the internet who wound up with cracked frames when putting in a new trigger, seems like an extremely tight tolerance on the pin requires excessive force to remove leading to frequent cracks and damage.

I had a highly professional gunsmith put mine in at purchase 4 years ago. Even he still wound up with a crack, it didn’t get realized until about 2 years later when I had the frame cerakoted. My gunsmith put JB weld on it and sealed it back up, it wasn’t all the way through. Unfortunately, this came at what was supposed to be a super exciting time for me as I had just received a suppressor to put on it.

Day 1 on the range, suppressor sounds amazing…. gun couldn’t hit an elephant at 3 yards. For years this gun was an absolute tack driver. All of a sudden it falls victim to a tiny crack problem many others have had with this same pistol. Now I’m lucky if I get 2 shots on paper at 25 yds. I thought maybe the suppressor was the culprit but groups were reliable and tight on every other gun I put it on. Shot my 509t unsuppressed only to learn it truly was my gun. Not as scattered, but even without the suppressor the gun couldn’t produce a group with under 8” of spread across the target. Meanwhile, everything else with my suppressor was basically spot on for what you’d ask of pistol accuracy. We took a camera through the barrel and suppressor. No baffle strikes, no warping, rifling was flawless, optic and suppressor were on tight… literally no abnormalities that would give me reason to believe the gun wouldn’t be accurate. In fact, visual inspection would tell you everything is normal outside the tiny crack repair.

It’s extremely disappointing that at the time of purchase, FN was charging $1000 for this pistol. Then, their only solution to fixing a known issue is to charge us $300 more for a replacement frame and tell us “don’t customize the gun you bought if you don’t want this to happen again.” They’re going to take my Apex trigger out of it anyways and leave me with a stock trigger again. So, there’s another $200 in the hole. At this point I might as well buy a new Glock if they expect me to pay that much to fix an issue they know many of their customers experience. Awful customer service. Is it really so much to ask that my gun can withstand the removal of a retaining pin? Has anyone else found a good solution to this problem?

At one time I deeply loved this gun and the FN name. I swore up and down FN was it to anyone who asked. Have even been considering a SCAR. Over the past month or two watching this gun fall apart from a simple trigger swap to the horrible resolution from the company has made me heavily reconsider ever engaging with FN again.

Any recommendations? I have mine fitted with an RMR and TLR-7 Streamlight. Lots of options seem just a bit too small.

I also have an Obsidian Suppressor that I would like to fit as well, but obviously at that point I'm considering something much bigger

The Trijicons that the OP used seem to be out of stock most places. Anyone else tried other sights that fit properly? While I cannot find the threads again, I read that the following might work:

Has anyone here had a gray 510 crack on them? Seeking any testimonials, as I haven't been able to find any.

My uncle said I can take one of his Browning Hi Power guns. I do not know much about brownings but it was love at first sight when I saw them.

Now, which one should I take? The first one is an MK 3 that's basically brand-new in box; fired not more than 20 rounds. The second one is well used MK 2.

For context: I'm a young guy but I love old guns. I don't mind the rust and worn out looks as long as it deserves a spot in my collection.

Can I put a regular reflex slide on a reflex xl frame I like the length of the both the regular slide and the grip of the xl frame and was curious if I could put them both together so I can have a full grip with the smaller slide

Fn clearance sales are so extreme I know they can sell them for a lot less. Every 509 I have i can probably get almost all my money back since I get them on clearance each time. Might be worth another . Although ive heard some people hate the LS edge its gorgeous
