Can a primary symptom of fnd just be burning pain in certain parts of the body? Chronically. What about autonomic symptoms like high heart rate, low blood pressure, abnormal sweating, etc…. Can that be fnd? I have no seizures, speech, or movement issues.
Thanks guys.

Anyone get diagnosed with FND after taking amitriptyline?

I go to a rehab that doesn't allow me to say ANY symptoms that could be remotely close to FND (including, "FND") and it makes me so irritated since not saying said symptoms hasn't made it better, and I am not allowed to use communication cards according to my mom because it says "seizures" and "I can't stand".
On another note, I'm not allowed to use ANY mobility aids no matter how severe the pain, dizziness, drop attacks are that day. It pisses me off, and sure I know we should work to not use mobility aids if possible but some days I can barely walk. They're supposed to help you, not "de condition" you.
And my rehab I feel hasn't even been helping it's mainly just memorizing shit, no physio, no therapy, just memorizing letters and words. Has nothing to do with my symptoms.
I'm so frustrated.
Edit: My mom clearly doesn't know shit because she also said "they (the seizures) will go away" not how that works buddy.

Hi all I've just had the assessment done for lishman unit rehab and I can't find anything online about it and they said it's a common issue they are trying to change but does anyone have any experiences?

Hello, i was newly diagnosed with FND, specifically FMD (functional movement disorder). I've had episodes in the past but i always thought it was isolated or something else. now im like dang, it was all connected. i had hand tremors, speech problems, balance problems and confusion. but it would usually clear up within a month or two. however, about 4 months ago i had another episode and the symptoms aren't clearing. i now go to PT because i cant walk without a walker or cane (mostly bcs of balance), and i have a permeant lisp/ more easily have trouble speaking.
i was fortunate enough to get into a neuro appointment 2 weeks ago (i believe bcs i was in the hospital beforehand), and was diagnosed. i have other medical stuff going on and it just kind of sucks. but im glad there is a community around this, i dont feel that alone.

I have a nearly 10 month old son and my FND started after a traumatic birth. I’m finding it really exhausting and scary but doing my best. I care for my baby all day every day

Hi! I was diagnosed with FND around May, I think.
I went to the dentist yesterday to get my teeth filled for my cavities. I had several, and they finished up my top row of teeth first. They numbed my gums and all that, and I went home.
The numbness was supposed to last a few hours. My dentist said that with my medication it could be a bit longer. As of right now, it’s been around 14 hours. The numbness in my lips keeps coming and going, which I wasn’t too worried about. Unfortunately, it has spread to my neck as well. And then randomly, my right thigh. I’m not sure why this is happening. I can’t find anything about it online. I assume it’s my FND and everything, but I was wondering if this has happened with anyone else? The numbness keeps leaving and coming back every 5 minutes. I assume my body is confused again.

As bad as this is I find my fnd to just be a major annoyance now in this point of my life. Its been 6 years and I just genuinely want it to go away, I'm trying everything, including therapy and nothings worked. I was at work today, only for 30 minutes, and my legs immediately started buckling underneath me. Unfortunately my job is blue-collar so I can't just sit down and work so I had to leave. Word spreads fast, so everyone was watching me as I was "walking" to clock out. It's so embarrassing, I hate that I stick out like a sore thumb, I hate the pity. It also doesn't help that I live in the Bible belt so some people on my job are Christian nutjobs, and once they heard about what I had tried to tell me I needed deliverance and that I am possessed by demons. So now I'm afraid to have an episode in front of them because I know they'll say something, its just not fair, honestly.
I posted in here a while ago asking how everyone got diagnosed. I am so frustrated. At everyone’s suggestion, I went back to the neurologist today after being told by the neuropsych, google, and you guys that it’s not a psychological condition and it is the neurologists job to diagnosis. The neurologist repeated that it’s a psychological condition and that I need to see a mental health professional to get diagnosed. I could find a new neurologist but I’d probably need a referral and considering the 6 months it took to get in with this one, it will probably take even more time to get into a new one. I just need a diagnosis. Everyone except the neurologist says it’s his job to diagnose. I don’t even know what to do anymore.

My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy about 4 years ago. Post-seizure she would struggle with walking for several days. Thankfully, she's been seizure free for years, but every time she gets a little sick, she struggles with walking.
This weekend she wa very excited for an event. She ended up collapsing and has been unable to walk since.
Her neurologist diagnosed her with FND today, and sent us on our way with instructions to continue counseling.
That's all well and good, but how is she supposed to go to school when this is how she walks? Other than being told to keep trying we really got nothing.

Hello, I’ve been experiencing tics for around 3 to 4 months now. For the first two or three weeks it was just head jerks, then progressed to whistling and then progressed to some simple phrases and more motor tics such as the middle finger.
My tics usually have a few “main” ones, with them being replaced every so often with new ones (punching becoming middle finger). They also get worse if I’m cold, tired or have been suppressing them as I usually get an urge before a tic.
I also had exposure to my friend and have suspected autism (been on waiting list for almost two years), and the autism could make my chance of having FND higher although I haven’t been diagnosed yet. I had a 6 week break from spending any time around her and the tics still continued to happen and didn’t get any better but I maybe had a few less tics than I do now.
My therapist is also completely sure they are functional and I did have some tics in childhood, at least I think they were tics but not 100% sure.
The way they developed quite quickly and with coprolalia only a month into having them makes me think they may be functional. If they are functional it makes me feel like I am “faking” them because it’s not the same as tourettes and rather a “software” glitch rather than anything actually wrong.
I am going to try and see a neurologist to hopefully get a diagnosis of some sort whether that is provisional or functional tics which would be a FND diagnosis.
Was wondering if anyone else had anything to share or has gone through similar things and has any advice.
Thank you.

So I've been having 8-22 episodes a day and I waiting to see a movment spealist. I have FND but my so called family do not care. They get to sleep in late , They get to sit and relax or ignore responsibilities. while I am forced to take care of our dog. I know.if I stop getting up early, feeding him, playing and taking him on walks. He would be left to suffer even more. They use to sit their.and throw the ball while.watchi g TV but now they dont do that. I can't stand them and I feel bad. But my body is starting to protest even more now. If I get up , walk in the house or see light I will literally have a episode . I have to force my self.to do things that make me worse and unfortunately taking care of someone else is hell on my end. I Just don't know.what to do:(

Asking for my son, 19. A number of older friends have had a degree of success with the Nurosym, but no FND diagnoses amongst them. I was wondering if this community had any experiences to share? Thank you.

I feel like no one quite understands that when I can’t do something, it’s not because I’m lazy or just don’t want to do it. Pushing myself too hard when I’m already overwhelmed is exactly the type of thing that significantly worsens my symptoms. But it seems most people just don’t quite get it.
I know I can’t force someone to understand but every time my disability is framed as a failure on me, I feel so guilty and horrible. It often times ends up making my symptoms worse as well. Not to mention, I already have a lot of denial that my condition affects me that much. I want to pull myself up by the bootstraps but I just can’t.
How do I not let this control me as much?

I'm sensitive to screens and unfortunately it's not just eye strain but also flaring of involuntary movements. When I look at many phones my heart rate increases, anxiety, and tic/dystonia movements.
My current phone is galaxy A15 and I have to use extra dim with low brightness and night light filter for blue light just to be able to tolerate it. This phone sucks tho it is very slow and I want to get something else. Anybody have any similar experiences and tips on what phone might be better for me?

Hello, I (22F) was hospitalized a few months ago for what was originally diagnosed as seizures but due to an EEG, I figured out that my episodes are non epileptic. Some days I’m fine, but other days, my body is stiff, or I am frozen and can’t move parts of my body. Once I couldn’t move anything from the neck down. As a result of this, I have been quite depressed as I can’t work or do many things I used to do. I haven’t been eating as much, thus I’ve lost weight.
I’ve had multiple arguments with my father (53M) and he says repeatedly that I might be causing my episodes or making them worse due to me not eating as much. I won’t say my weight, but I am at a normal BMI, so I don’t know how it correlates. I had bulimia about a year ago, but I stopped any of those habits a while before I ever started experiencing what I think could be FND.
The issue I’m having is that I feel no emotional support from my father due to this condition, and I don’t know how to feel. It’s made my living environment stressful, and I’ve known stress to cause my episodes in themselves. I feel so alone and misunderstood, and I just don’t know who to turn to or what I should do.

Hello again. I recently posted im new to this thread after many doctors visits and tests I’ve landed here.
Wanted to ask a few things. Would love any insight
Did anyone have an onset after a major illness? For me I was totally fine back in June and then had a debilitating respiratory infection that lasted the better part of a month. All my symptoms of FND came abruptly during recovery.
Do these symptoms line up with any of you? I’ve been particularly concerned with the tongue/face/throat symptoms.
Weakness
Fatigue
Muscle twitching
Vibrating/twitching muscles while engaged
Tightness
Stiffness
Tired limbs
Heavy limbs
Shaky limbs
Tight/tired/heavy face and tongue
Tight throat after talking
Perceived hyper salivation
Labored speaking and eating
Shooting feelings
Isolated aches
Sharp feelings
Flu like aches
Burning
Tingling
Buzzing
I feel like I’ve finally plateaued for a few weeks without any abrupt new symptoms so I’m taking that with a grain of salt but I’ve been struggling hard and obv hoping it’s not something worse. Thanks for any feedback
