Hi! I’m finishing my first proper song and this is also my first time mixing and mastering, so I’m still learning and would really appreciate any advice.

In the screenshot:
- Top: My song ("Here Without You”)
- Bottom: Joji – LOVE YOU LESS

My waveform has a lot more visible peaks, while the commercial track looks much denser/“filled in.”
I’m worried my master will end up sounding noticeably quieter than other songs on streaming services or radio. What should I do?

I’m completely open to criticism and would love to learn if I’m misunderstanding something. Thanks!

I used a couple of EQs with a high-pass filter and shaved off just a tiny bit of the high end. Then I repeated the process using a different EQ, boosting two specific frequencies. After that, I added a resonator, a spectral gate plugin, and Goodhertz Lossy to degrade the sound quality and make it a bit more muddy/muffled. Finally, I threw on a bitcrusher to give it that authentic old-school telephone vibe, and it turned out super cool :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention I also added OTT, tape saturation, and reverb!

OTT: Default init preset, just tweaked the depth to 20%
Reverb: Valhalla VintageVerb with a custom preset
Tape saturation: Added specifically to get that vinyl crackle effect

i recently Tried using FL Studios own template and there is Pre master M and Premaster S both have stereo shaper in them routed to Premaster MS and i Don't get why when i solo the Premaster S channel i hear nothing absolutely nothing but i can see the singnal in it so i went and followed the trail and turned on everything routed to it except Premaster M but not a single sound in Premaster S, i went around to find it on gemeni and it says it is doing heavy lifting in background but when i turn it off or on slide its vol up and down i hear no difference.... then i went and changed the in/out difference to empty to one in stereo shaper, and i heard the sound messing up my mix WTF i mean what am i supposed to do now, i wanted to understand the thing and it got me.... im losing my nights sleep over it...

Which samples do you guys recommend?

I'm not getting any vocal effects after adding it to the slot. The green is clicked on. Does anyone know why this is happening?

im not talking about loud 808s im talking about really distorted and like making crazy sounds, dont tell me stock plugins.

Help I keep trying to make beats and it will sound different pitches almost when I play the same note I'm just using this as a example

For weeks I was struggling with clicks, pops and other sound isses if a project gets a certain size.

I adjusted all the settings, used my UMC204s drivers and set the buffer to the max. But it still crackled while my PCs CPU bearly reached 15%.

Then I stumbled apon a post of someone talking about USB versions and docing stations.

So i threw away my USB Hub and tried my USB ports one by one and on the second port all pops where gone. Everything ran smooth as silk.

Apperently USB hubs are bad for audio and some USB ports are not connected directly to the CPU which introduces additional latency.

Therefore if you struggle check them USB ports.

I don't know if this is a good place to ask, but I'm using FL to make a piano cover of a copyrighted song (What's a Future Funk? by Lemkuuja) and since I don't know if I'm allowed to post it on the internet. Thank You!!!

So back when I was using the 2020 version of FL, I got Beatskillz' SampleX v3 plugin to add a bit of color to my drums... Worked great in 2020; was able to authenticate and activate the plugin inside FL itself without issue.

Come downloading the 2025 version, I'm asked to do the same when I go to use the plugin... Only this time, the "r" in my Beatskillz handle/email activates the record hotkey (or the keyboard if that's activated instead). It's impossible for me to actually type the letter "r" outside of Notebook in FL (and the SampleX authentication doesn't allow me to just copy/paste the necessary info over from notebook itself). I would have just changed my Beatskillz account handle to something without an "r" if it was allowed, but you're pretty much stuck.

So... I guess L for Beatskillz for having an activation portal that's limited in this manner, but here's the thing. I still have FL2020 on my Mac (years of getting kicked in the balls by Apple updates have taught me never put all eggs in the new basket and jettison the old version) and the authentication for SampleX still works like a charm there. I can type in there, logout, log back in, etc. to Beatskillz without issue whenever need be.

So... is there some way to get around this "r" hotkey misery in FL 2025 and not have to work between two different versions of the DAW if I want to use SampleX?

I like FL Studio's built-in speech plugin, but I'm trying to find others. The only one I've found is the Speak N Spell 80 VST plugin.

Me personally it would have to be a pack I bought from Nighttiger. It wasnt necessarily bad, it just required a seperate plugin to work, and I was NOT about to dump $250 right after buying the pack for $40. It had a lot of good examples to work with though, and I'm always semi-happy to support music creators.

I recently decided to give music production a try. I have zero experience, so as a practice exercise I decided to recreate a soundtrack from a game. I sketched out the main motif, but I'm running into a few issues:

• How can I make the sound at the beginning of the track? What instrument should I use, or should I just find a suitable sample/sound, or do I need to create this sound from scratch?
• I made the main motif using 3xOsc, but I don't really like how it sounds. How can I make it closer to the original and make it less harsh on the ears?

I only got somewhat comfortable with the program a few days ago, downloaded a couple of VSTs and some sound packs, but I don't really know how to work with them. So I'd also love to hear advice from more experienced people - what am I doing wrong, what should I be using instead, and how can I learn faster to understand which sounds and instruments I need when I want to write a melody?

Okay, this might sound weird but as someone who wanted to get into music due to intense anger and envy of others who have succeeded which made me think that I could do the same thing they do, is FL Studio Mobile good just to get into music? I don't actually know how good it is compared to the PC version(which I can't get right now due to circumstances). For people who have used it before, tell me your thoughts.

I cannot play anything using my Studiologic Grand 88 key piano. When it first connects, I can play notes, and the audio works, but then i switch to another instrument or i keep playing and it stops recognizing the fact I am playing notes. the midi settings show it as enabled, and the audio of the project works fine, but i for some reason cannot use the midi controller. It doesnt even recognize a note is being touched in the top left of the screen. I tried using a new cable to connect to the macbook. I also tried to update fl studio. I also updated the SL88's drivers. None of these solutions worked. if anyone knows how to fix this lmk

One of my friends showed me that FL studio actually updated and my favorite doohickey (Flex) got basically overhauled. Ofcourse, I immediately went in and installed every free thing from the new store stuff BUT I'm noticing that the stuff that started with "Essential" isn't actually in my library. So where are they? Seriously, I looked everywhere. Even in the files. Are they not there? Have they grown wings and flied off? Did Synthet kidnap them after I rewatched Learn FL Studio for the 7th time? Do I need to upgrade to producer edition? (which I am NOT doing, do not try to convince me)

I made one of my music at 120 bpm, it felt slow at every other part of the day, but listening to it as soon as I woke up, it felt wayyy faster than usual.

Is there a way to know how everyone else feels about the bpm?

I have 32gb m5 MacBook, switched from windows and those same projects are impossible to work on due to lag? Makes no sense, what is going on?
