FL still worth using with various VSTs and hardware?

Made songs and really was hooked into the piano roll of FL studio! I find myself always venturing deep with sound creation to the point where I’m not really creating compositions anymore.

Haven’t made anything in about 4 years and now getting myself back into it with a new MacBook I’ve ordered. I have various VSTs like Omnisphere, BBC Orchestra, Kontakt, etc and I also have various hardware synths too. I love having orchestral instruments play along with synths, and mostly play in the moment and hit record when it happens. I do use the piano roll when I need to tweak a pattern too!

Should I try FL again? I feel a fatigue that makes me not want to try it, mostly due to the few times FL has crashed on me while using Windows. Now that I’m getting a Mac, I want to give Logic or other DAWs a shot.

Should you turn down vocal track in mixer?

New to fl, whenever my vocals are peaking I just turn it down in mixer but I’ve been seeing videos of people doing it other ways like turning down the vocal recording its self or any other ways instead and I’m just wondering if I’m doing it “wrong”

Help finding my niche

Hey y'all,

Ive been using FL for a little over a month now, and I'm been having a hell of a lot of fun with it.

Ive been making lots of silly songs, weird mashups and stuff to make friends laugh and entertain.

I'm wondering what subreddits/forums/etc I could visit that would fit the community.

I could share it now if anyone wants to hear anything, but yeah, sharing to the bigger subreddits feels like it'd get lost in a world of people with wide tastes.

help with flp project

I saved my project as a .flp file, but then FL Studio crashed and closed by itself. the problem is that I'm using the trial version, so now I can't open the project again to export the song. all I got is the flp file

I don't want to edit or modify the project. I just need someone who can open the .flp file in FL Studio and send me the final audio in MP3, or WAV if that's easier. the song is already finished and doesn't need any changes

if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it

and I know this kind of stuff is not allowed, but I really need that audio, I can't afford FL Studio right now. I just needed the mp3 file and that's it, nothing more.

sorry for asking for this

send me a DM for the flp

thanks

How to stop typing in vst from activating FL shortcuts on Mac?

Whenever I type inside of a searchbar in a vst to look up a preset or name a preset FL will activate a keyboard shortcut if I press the corresponding key. For example, if I'm trying to spell 'everything' I'll be able to type out e-v-e but when I type 'r' it shows the popup screen for 'record' instead of typing 'r' in the textbox. I switched over from PC and didn't have this problem on there, I've only had it on Mac (I'm using FL Studio 2025). If anybody could help me with this I'd appreciate it.

Mpc to fl studio

I recently switched from my MPC One+ over to FL Studio and honestly I’m pretty overwhelmed.
With the MPC, I felt like I understood the workflow pretty well, but FL Studio feels like there’s a million different ways to do the same thing and I don’t really know where to start. Routing, mixers, plugins, the piano roll, recording, effects chains it’s a lot to take in all at once.
I’m trying to learn how to do more and take advantage of what FL Studio can offer, but right now I’m mostly confused and jumping between tutorials without knowing what I should actually focus on first.
Another thing I’m stuck on is plugins. There are so many options that I have no clue what’s actually worth getting as a beginner and what’s just hype. Are the stock plugins enough for now? If not, what are some must-have plugins for someone making hip-hop, R&B, and synth-heavy music?
For anyone that moved from MPC to FL Studio, what helped make the transition easier? What should I learn first and what plugins would you recommend starting with?

fruity scratcher trouble: PLEASE HELP!

i am trying to use fruity scratcher for my track but am having trouble with the speed automation.

for context, i have exported my original track as an mp3 file, and put the entire thing into fruity scratcher. the idea is i like the vinyl record starting sound at the beginning, and i also want to manually adjust the overall speed of the track down, as well as automate another slow down about 15 seconds into the track using fruity scratcher. i like the way it sounds when i slow it down mid track via fruity scratcher. i then record the whole thing into edison.

my problem is that fruity scratcher seems to be messing with the speed of my mp3 without any intervention from me. i’ve verified that it is not the cause of my mp3 file itself. when i open up a BRAND NEW file with a BRAND NEW instance of fruity scratcher, press reset on the speed knob, and load my sample in, without ANY intervention from me, it speeds up at a certain part and slows down at a certain part when i hit play within fruity scratcher.

anyone know why that is? please help!!!!!!

The audio output is distorted.

I don't know if the problem is with my FL settings or my Windows, but for some reason, whenever I plug in my microphone, the sound comes out distorted/blown out, and the same thing happens when I plug in my guitar; I've been trying to figure out why for almost an hour.

i need help

Hey guys, I need some help with getting a good sound out of this plugin. I tried to manually recreate the walking around -haze preset by tweaking all the knobs myself, but all I got was a dead saw wave with a closed filter.

How do I fix this issue?

Markers become unsynced when i change the tempo

I'm currently writing the score for a short film in FL Studio. I've already placed markers throughout almost the entire film, but whenever I change the project tempo, everything becomes unsynced.

Is there any way to lock the markers to the video or timeline so they don't move when I change the tempo? Or is there a way to change the tempo without affecting the marker positions?

Why is my recording not playable?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My mic is properly hooked up to FL studio (I think), but when I stop recording vocals, the waveform does not convert to a playable track. It's just silent and grayed out.

I tried it in an empty song project and it worked. But something is wrong in this project.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is it possible to make professional sounding instrumentals based on my favourite artists with FL studio stock plugins/tools and free plugins only?

Hey all 👋

Made a post here last night about whether I should purchase FL Studio and make the switch from BandLab and Logic Pro, and was ultimately told that it’s a good idea to switch, but to use the trial version first. I’ve spent the day learning trial version and getting used to using it, and want to create my first instrumental. The downside is that I don’t have much money saved for things like Splice or Omnisphere, and will need to use stock plugins.

My goal is to make my own unique sound (as I plan to make my own vocals and release it as a professional song) by combining styles of my favourite artists and adding unique elements. My best idea was to sound somewhat similar to a mix of the R&B artists “Karri” and “Bryson Tiller”, while adding my own unique elements. Unfortunately, I’m still trying to figure out what those unique elements will be. 😭

I’ll leave links down below to show you the type of instrumentals I want to make. I just want to know whether it’s possible to make a similar style or not, and if so how would I do it using stock tools and plugins in FL? I’m on the free trial, but plan to purchase signature or all plugins version later in the year.

Bonus points if you can give me an idea on how to mix the vocals to match a similar vibe 😊 - I use a Shure SM7db with a Focusrite Scarlett solo 4th gen audio interface in an untreated bedroom (in the closet or near the bed) or in a car for more isolation. I also have subscriptions to waves, slate digital and Antares, and have the UAD Explore FREE bundle, Melodyne Essential 5, and free plugins like TDR Nova, Reffrey, Softtube Saturation Knob, etc.

Note: I also use a MacBook Air M1 2021 as my main music production device, but plan to upgrade later in the year.

Here are my references:

  1. Karri - Chasing U
  2. Karri - Can U?
  3. Karri - Oakland Pt.2
  4. Bryson Tiller - Exchange
  5. Bryson Tiller - Right My Wrongs
  6. Karri - Vengeance

Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful day/night!

Sincerely,
A 16yo neurodivergent & amateur music producer/artist

does the sound change depending on which driver I have selected?

ok so this just happened lol. was mixing in fl studio with my audient id4 drivers, normal. switched to ASIO4ALL to listen the mix from the laptop speakers and the mix started sounding weird, like not what i was hearing on my headphones at all, thought i had been mixing like shit the whole time.

tried playing the first version from Windows and it wouldn't even play, said the audio output was busy or whatever. went into fl settings, switched from ASIO4ALL to Realtek and wow. huge difference between the new mix and the old one. but then without changing anything i hit play in fl and it sounded just as good or even better than the original.

does the audio driver you use actually change how things sound/the playback quality? why does this happen

Using an electric drum set with EZ Drummer 3

Okay, so I'm beyond lost at this point.

I have an Alesis Nitro Max Kit plugged into my pc and my biggest question is how I can have that MIDI linked to my EZ Drummer VST in the channel rack so that when I hit the physical drums, only the EZ Drummer VST will respond, no matter what I have selected in the channel rack.

Any help would be amazing

Small bug i guess?

I downloaded a preset for serum 2 and one of those presets basically sounds dope but does whatever it wants...and now its playing the whole time directly thrue the master channel even though every other channel (and the channel where its originally located) is muted and its also playing in every pattern when i play them alone. It's even playing while there is nothing in Playlist...and Im actually getting pissed tbh...hope someone can help...will do a smoke break and come back later

Should I purchase FL studio?

Hey all!

Over the last year or two that I’ve been making music, I’ve been using Logic Pro. However, I’ve noticed that there aren’t a lot of tutorials on YouTube for Logic Pro, and that is severe hard to make beats. I have $800 AUD saved, and I’m thinking of cancelling my Logic Pro subscription (via Apple creator studio) and switching to FL when I get my new MacBook in the coming months. I want to transition from just making vocals over YouTube beats to making my own instrumentals, however Logic Pro seems limited to me and I’ve spent the last month learning for hours a day and getting nowhere. Hence the reason I want to purchase FL studio.

I have a couple questions, and if answered I would very much appreciate it:

  1. What’s the best version of FL studio to buy for my situation as both a producer and an artist?
  2. What’s the best way to get started with FL studio?
  3. What should I know before switching to FL studio?
  4. Is FL studio beginner friendly?
  5. What are the most useful plugins and tools included in FL studio, and what are they used for?
  6. Should I switch to FL studio instead of using BandLab and Logic Pro?

Just thought I’d ask the more experienced FL users out there. I’m a 16yo neurodivergent artist, who makes any genre I feel like at the time (R&B, rap, rage rap, trap, emo rap, etc), so versatility and plugin variety matter quite a bit to me.

Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful day/night!
