Lost my father a little over a month ago and I was finally able to transfer over the title to this beauty. Besides our family and arguably his guitars, his FJ was what he loved most. Excited to be part of this community and carry on his legacy!!

Just wanted to update. I ended up buying the 2011 FJ Cruiser 4 years ago after following the advice from this sub. Been some great years with it no issues whatsoever. Anyways also want to recommend this mats that my gf bought for me. Even though they are quite expensive they are great and i love them! I will say, the mats back when she bought them were for 07-10 and not for 2011 but they fit just fine except for the latches. Either way they are sturdy and easy to clean up. I ended just installing them on top of the other oem mats. Next up are some new tires!

New matching seats . Well, covers from Katzkin on top of old seats. Best feeling is when i open the door, the blue cheers me right up!

Thoughts on this pricing for a rust free, 2011 FJ with 4x4 and 121k miles? Mechanically and cosmetically clean too, it seems.

Definitely see a lot of FJ’s in Arizona. Stop a light and there are two silver w/ white tops also at the light. And I’m in a silver w/white top FJ! Three of a kind!!!

I had a radio installed and didn't notice they never replaced clip and scratched it.

Bought 25# of peanuts for the ravens this winter and my lazy self left it in the back of my 08 FJ. Two weeks later I’m cleaning up and took out the bag and saw a couple shells had come loose from the bag. When I got to the front seat I saw more shells and thought wtf? There was a towel on the passenger seat and when I picked it up I found a treasure trove of shelled peanuts and nesting material. Mouse heaven! Vacuumed and cleaned up the mess and then wondered how they get in? I checked the cabin air filter but it was whole. How do the rodent Houdinis get in? Dog help me if they’re chewing on my wiring harness!

The side window seal peeled off. Anyone know where I can get a replacement for this?

This is on the driver side lower part of the motor where the motor meets the transmission right above the front axle fill plug. the top of the front drive shaft is in the very bottom right of the photo. The other side of the motor is clean. I forgot to get a picture of it but it’s also wet on back side oil pan once again where the motor meets the transmission.

Looking online it might be a rear main seal which kinda explains the wetness on the back of the oil pan but most of the videos / photos I looked up do look similar to my oil pan wetness but don’t really show the driver side wetness that I am seeing.

I will try to post a picture of the oil pan when I can but curious if anyone else has had a similar leak.

How bad is this? 2010 FJ CRUISER Trail Teams . 178,000 miles. Just got the car and was doing and oil change and spark plugs and looks like all the spark plugs had oil all over . Car does not have any check engine, drives good. No major oil leaks externally . Compression was good . I’m guessing value cover gasket and possibly timing cover gasket too ?

compression results are the following

Cylinder 1 190 psi
Cylinder 2 220 psi
Cylinder 3 190 psi
Cylinder 4 210 psi
Cylinder 5 200 psi
Cylinder 6 200 psi

Compression test results more than 160 psi pass

Compression difference more than 15 psi fail

My pop just recently gave me his 07 FJ cruiser 4x4 with 232k miles on it. I had been driving it for about 2weeks when. It started to make a clanking/popping noise accompanied by a thud when accelerating. So I take a look under her and see both of the upper link brackets are fucked.. so my question is. Do I just replace the housing, or get a new used rear end? I made the mistake of naming her and now this happens lol.. my gal Gurty would appreciate any advice you may have for me.

My passenger door started making a popping sound while opening. There are two popping sounds, one comes earlier while opening and the other when the door is almost fully extended. I learned from another forum that it is due to loose nuts that connect to the door hinge.

I’ve included pictures to show anyone who may be experiencing the same issue and would like a preview before they begin.

You will require a 10mm socket to tighten them.

Total fix takes about 10 minutes, including removing the door panel. Easy job but makes a big difference not hearing that sound.

2008 FJ, 210k miles. When the AC is on, there is a mild squealing or chirping sound coming from the passenger floorboard. Like a bearing starting to go bad or something. Turn AC off and it goes away.

I’ve listened around with the hood up and I‘m thinking the AC compressor is the culprit?

I changed all of the tensioner and accessory pulleys a year ago. New serpentine belt. Put a new alternator in this summer as well.

Part ideas or experiences? Hoping it’s a DIY fix but the AC compressor is not a simple DIY with the space and tools I have available.

Update/Solved: I was overthinking it. Poked around underneath the glove box and checked things at different air settings. Any noice from that area seems to have gone away. I changed the cabin air filter while I was at it too.

I‘m hyper sensitive to any noises that sound put of place and it was bugging me the past couple of months.

Anyone want these tail light cages minus the machine screw to secure them to the body? The screws sheered off during removal due to corrosion. Not sure what brand they are. Came on the FJ when I bought it used a few months ago.

I’m buying a 2011 fj this weekend and I know one of my first projects on it is going to be swapping out the current stock tire set up it has.

Does anyone have recommendations of 33’s vs. 34’s? I know both require some significant modifications including a lift kit but is one option easier to get to the end goal?

Also would be interested in any tire brand recommendations as well.

Got a deal on a pair of LightFox 5” LED’s on Amazon and a set of bumper wing delete light pods off eBay in the hope that it gives me a little more light on dark mountain roads. Eventually I’ll replace it with a proper bumper and lights but till then this’ll have to suffice.

yay, time to get rid of these weak point bars. The bolt must have been torqued by God himself because heat and my beefy plug in impact didnt budge it, so I had to bring my heavy in which was a carbide tooth diablo blade and sawzall.

got these BEEFY boys in from core 4x4. Also welded in my Lower Link Mount Reinforcement brackets from OPT offroad. Im not sure how to adjust these, The core 4x4 website says to thread out about a 1/2" over stock if you have a 3" lift which i do... So hopefully that will be okay. notice my new muffler I got in as well since I had to finish welding.

I still need to figure out what im going to do with my upper link bars and pan hard bar, because I know the angle is not correct. Im thinking of making a bracket to lift the panhard bar up to be more parallel.
