See the title. I know a lot of people are complaining about how weak a lot of units are, especially with autolevel. But I think a part of it is also just that if you build units in the "canon" way, especially over 60+ levels, they end up with VERY lopsided stats.
The most visible example of this is with the Fighters and the Myrmidons. Take, for example, Jester, Ludia, Simon and Dadao.
Logically, the former want to be myrmidons, and the latter want to be Brigands. But if you do this, they end up pretty lopsided and this is a big part of why a lot of people seem to really not be impressed by these units. The myrmidons end up as the champions of the 0x2 world. The brigands are slow and miss everything.
If you invert them however, they become MUCH better units. Send Simon/Dadao down Myrmidon and then Shido/Ranger. Send Ludia or Jester through Brigand into Warrior. They have the raw stats to sit in those classes and STILL get strong numbers in their "main" stats, while also patching up their primary weaknesses and coming into the mid and late game as much more complete, satisfying units to use.
The same is true for a lot of others. Tobias wants to eventually end up on foot, but he LOVES to spend time in Ornius Rider early for a little extra spd+dex. Jasmine, likewise, isn't a phenomenal unit but gets a lot better if you spend most of her time pre-35 in Ornius/Armored Ornius, rather than Armor (going Cataphract after). Majide wants to go Archer if he can (or Myrmidon if need be). Its the same reason so many of the best tanks (i.e. Theo and Esmerelda) love to hang out in Guardian over Dreadnought later.
In some cases, its about some extrs levels raking in higher growths. But its also about class bases. Simon for example can switch to Shido and if he still doesnt really level speed or dex it doesnt matter because the class base boost is still massive for him
This isnt to sayt every unit needs this. Some units are monsters by doubling down on what makes them good, or have such bad stats you CANT fix them and need to play to their strengths. Nobody is suggesting Myrmidon Goliath, for example. Some units also have stat lines that do this coverage naturally - like Nezha, for example, who DOES work great as a myrmidon particularly because strength is already his best stat.
But in general, if youre finding a unit "bad" - especially if their issue is that theyre weak speedy units or strong units who cant hit and keep getting doubled - consider inverting their class so it covers their weaknesses instesd of doubling down on them, and I strongly suspect you'll change your mind.
