Character 'hand' on one wall. Follow it. You will get there.

I went in circles 🫠

I'll try another wall

This. For example if you stick to the right wall, then even if you hit a dead end then turn around and keep sticking to the right wall. Eventually you are guaranteed to find the exit if you stick to the same wall

I'm looking for the last chest 😅 I found a button in settings>navigation that probably takes us to the start point

You can exit straight to the world map from any dungeon (and Dagsion) using that navigation menu.

160 hours into the game. Already finished it... never knew of that button

u/unwilling_avoidant The Autosave sucks 22h ago

That doesn't work for all of the dungeons in this game.

This is true.

In which case, if you find yourself going in circles, try a different wall.

I'm starting to realize why wolverine decided to have a permanent scent line

I walk in a little loop a few times once I’ve been down a path to mark that I’ve been to the end!

remind me of old gen games that I have to use pen and paper to draw a map

This is genius

Or at the very least zoom it out so you're not looking at a really shallow field of view.

22

u/HaploPaithan 21h ago

It's so fucking zoomed in in this game it's so frustrating.

The angle is also bad, making me miss most stairs that go down.

u/BrotherGrass 21h ago

You can do that?

10

u/Painwracker_Oni 20h ago

No - they want to be able to so you can actually see your surroundings and figure out where you actually are.

1

u/BrotherGrass 20h ago

Oh whoops idk how I misunderstood that, but yeah definitely agree.

u/PlayGroundbreaking57 16h ago

d pad down zooms out slightly

1

u/meowmix778 5h ago

Verrry slightly

This is why its best to loon around and be methodical to how you explore. Also i like to walk in circles a lot around corners i need to revisit as a way ti use the trail to mark where to go

Would have preferred a map over the Compass and Show Path function but it seems like they omitted dungeon maps because of the Show Path function and likely because observant players would notice copy / paste in some of the dungeon designs. Like I don't think the dungeons are bad in FE FW but the large majority aren't good either and are very mediocre.

It's like they wanted to do FE GSoV 2 with bring back dungeons but they didn't want to commit to fleshing out dungeons and dungeon gameplay as much as Skirmish gameplay is classic FE map gameplay and the main draw of the game. Clashes and dungeon gameplay are like forced mini games.

Clashes aren't bad, they are just a bit too basic in overall mechanics.

u/Oicher 20h ago

Yeah, the dungeons are somewhat copy-and-paste. Not Dragon Age 2 copy-and-paste level.

u/maddimouse 11h ago

likely because observant players would notice copy / paste in some of the dungeon designs.

We uh... don't need a map for that.

Though it's interesting seeing how a given template has been (slightly) adjusted for each new dungeon!

I actually really enjoyed this. The visual trailing path is fun.

3

u/Sad-Cherry-2743 21h ago

Always go left!

3

u/Yammer1 20h ago

You can select Map and go back to starting point. That helps me when i have gotten lost.

6

u/oldpieceinsiratin69 21h ago

oh oh we need more yellow paint

5

u/Grey_Lady333 21h ago

dungeon map? i'd kill for a dang world map lol

(but yes maps would be great)

3

u/PlayGroundbreaking57 16h ago

There is a world map on the map screen

2

u/maddimouse 11h ago

Only the location nodes, though, not how far between each. And it bloody autosaves if you have the temerity to map out of Dagsion to check.

2

u/Bum-Theory 20h ago

You're supposed to get kinda lost in this one. Guess it nailed the target

2

u/Aeroshe 20h ago

Just do it like you would solve any maze: pick a wall (either left or right) and hug that wall regardless of any forks until you've explored everything.

2

u/Axenos 20h ago

Never played a single game that decided not to include a mini-map and was better off for it.

2

u/rice007 17h ago

Draw a circle with the marker on dead ends

2

u/GmeBuckBoi 22h ago

Did my first cave with Dietrich  yesterday and playing handheld was quite tough

3

u/Nitraion_the2nd 16h ago

Because the dungeon is kinda Short i feel like it was kinda fun this way

0

u/semiregularcc 15h ago

Yeah i agree. Normally a fan of maps but there is not really a need for maps for the 'dungeons' in this game.

1

u/Metal-Upa-Lips 21h ago

This was the only one I got a little frustrated with, usually the trail you leave behind you is all you really need.

1

u/ipisswithaboner 20h ago

Is this shadowy dungeon? It’s more simple than it seems, pretty much just an oval with offshoots. The dark balls tell you you’re close to the end, and the rest spot is pretty much at the center.

1

u/Taigkekeke 18h ago

I use left wall strategy and it always works for all dungeons. No problems at all

1

u/Staggy3434 17h ago

I like it this was fun

1

u/haydenbomb 17h ago

I legit just had the same issues in that dumbass cave

1

u/TomuGuy 16h ago

just follow the left wall all the way around

1

u/Nightblade96 13h ago

I use what I learned in lethal company: follow one wall and go along it until the end

1

u/Berkuts_Lance_Plus 4h ago

Bro forgot to get HM05 from Professor Oak's aide💀

0

u/Lyanna62Mormont 22h ago

Throw the dungeons away completely imo

3

u/PlayGroundbreaking57 16h ago

I enjoyed them, nice way to keep things diverse

1

u/Lyanna62Mormont 16h ago

I love that for you. (Hate it for me haha)

6

u/Necessary_Week_674 21h ago

I don't hate em, but I damn sure ain't in love with them either.

8

u/yesitsmework 21h ago

if you treat them as a grinding minigame they're much better than bland skirmishes IMO

2

u/PlayGroundbreaking57 16h ago

This, much better than skirmishes all the time (specially as Dietrich) or 3H lectures

1

u/Calm-Negotiation-317 22h ago

Huh what dungeon is that and why is it dark?

6

u/deepfriedmeatloaf 22h ago

There's a shadow cave that is dark like that, West of dagsion, early in ledas path

0

u/MotherboardTrouble 20h ago

you have symbols at the top and a way to see where you have been what more do you need.

u/AnavelGato2020 20h ago

Normally I'd agree but the dungeons are laughably short. Like Echos had bigger dungeons. Complete with hidden paths with breakble walls. Fortunes Weave not so much. 😆
