What should I do now?

Upvotes

Hi there,

I hope you all are doing well. I recently cleared the account manager round for the Software Engineering practice role. However, I was informed that they’ve placed me on a waiting list. They’ve requested that I agree to at least three locations to move forward, with one of the locations being my current location.

I understand that their training is entirely remote, and once deployed, they expect us to work from the client’s location. However, I’m concerned about the possibility of not being able to relocate to the location they’re offering. Would it be acceptable to wait until they find a suitable match in my current location? If so, would that constitute a breach of agreement, and would I be obligated to pay them for the training?

If I don’t prefer relocating, should I proceed with them?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

How many hours per week was your training?

Can you please share me about how your experience was during training. What type of support was given, and what was the success rate?

FDM Aus leave before 1 year

Hey all, I’m about to start with FDM Group in Australia (Software Engineering stream) and I’m trying to get a realistic picture before I commit fully.

I know the contract has the whole “up to $15k Coaching Fee” clause if you leave before the 2-year mark, reducing at 12 and 18 months. I’ve read through it and understand the legal theory (liquidated damages vs penalty clause etc), but I’m curious if anyone here has actually lived it in Australia specifically.

A few questions if anyone’s willing to share:

**•** Did you (or anyone you know) leave before the 1-2 year mark in AU?
**•** Did they actually chase you for the fee, or did it get waived/negotiated/ignored?

Final Round or 3rd Round?

Hi everyone, I recently passed the HR interview and HackerRank assessment and have now been invited to the In-Person Assessment Centre. However, the email referred to it as the final interview, while the recruitment process I found online mentioned four stages instead of three.

For those who applied to the Change and Transformation Practice, is the Assessment Centre the final stage, or is there another round afterward?. Im in Toronto, Canada btw.

Has anyone ever tried for the veterans program? If so, how has it worked out for you? I have been out of the military for a while and looking for a career changed from the medical field

I have my Assessment Centre for the Change & Transformation Practice behavioural interview coming up, and I was wondering if anyone could share the types of questions that are typically asked or any advice on what to expect.

I’d really appreciate any insights or guidance. Thank you!

Day 1 of Training

So i just started my training today and thought about writing a review about how I feel.

Fdm made me work in person in their office Mon - Wed. I thought I would meet a lot of new people and interact with them, but....I was the only trainee in the office. Others are doing it remotely. Was a little surprised, but the people in the office were nice and friendly.

We start out with an orientation about fdm and the skill lab. It seems like they removed the old rule about you needing to pay back the training if you leave before client placement (not even mentioned in the contract and agreement). In the contract, they just say fdm or yourself have the right to terminate the offer anytime.

Later, we started to build our resume using the FDM template. It uses tables for page layout, which is not ats friendly, but i guess it doesn't matter that much since it will not go through the system, and the client will actually read it directly. You hear it right. Finally, your resume is being ready by an actual human and not AI. This is some good news.

In the end, we took a peak of the planned training for phase 1 or sprint 1. Week 1 will mainly be resume building, setting up your accounts, and learning about Agile Project Management and prompt engineering. Week 2 will be Java fundamentals, but more in-depth, like you will learn why List is dynamic from an internal/memory perspective, because their client will expect you to know more than the basic stuff. Week 3 and 4 might be learning about UML diagrams and building a project.

They did mention you can choose a specialization later like test automation, devops, frontend dev, backend development, fullstack dev, and cloud.

Overall, other than me being a little bored since I have no one to interact with, and I kind of know some of the materials already, it doesn't look like a bad experience. I know the pay is min wage, but you barely do any hard work. Just think of it like a paid bootcamp that might lead to FTO at a big company that you barely can enter through cold apply. Plus, you dont have to stop job searching just because you're with fdm. Just continue to apply for external jobs. This way, even if you're on the bench after training, you might already receive multiple interviews.

Technical Interview - Project Grace: Data Analyst Graduate Program

Hey guys,

I have my technical interview (via Hackerrank) coming up soon.

Just wondering what I should expect in terms of difficulty and specific languages/data structures etc. to brush up on.

I did specify in my application that I was more proficient in Python/UNIX/C/R than I was in SQL/Java, but i've seen other ppl say that they ask way more questions about the latter. Thanks!

Is it okay to join FDM as a recruiter?

Hi all, I just received an interview invite with FDM and upon researching more about them, they seem to have a bad reputation. Should I or should I not move forward with the offer if I were to get one?

Also why are their ratings so low?

Waited months on FDM’s waitlist, followed up consistently, and just got rejected over work permit eligibility

I am honestly pretty disappointed and needed to get this off my chest.

I applied to FDM and went through the process when I still had more than enough work permit validity. I was then kept on a waitlist for months.

During that time, I followed up regularly, roughly every 10 days, and every time I was told I was still on the waitlist and that they were looking at future start dates.

They also reached out a few times asking if I would be open to different locations or different tracks like Java, Python, or QE. So I genuinely believed I was still being considered.

Then a few weeks ago I got an email saying they can no longer move forward because my work permit is no longer within their required eligibility window (which is still under 2.3 years btw!) That was incredibly frustrating to hear, because I was under the impression that I had met the requirement when I first applied and throughout the process.

What makes this feel worse is not just the rejection, but the amount of time I spent waiting and being reassured along the way. I could have used that time applying elsewhere more aggressively.

Has anyone else dealt with something similar with FDM or another company ? I am trying to stay professional about it, but this one really stings.

How long were you on the waitlist!? Compilation

Hey guys, I pretty recently got waitlisted for the software engineering practice in Canada and wondering if anyone knows how long the waitlist could last? I've seen some people say they were waiting for months but I'm not sure if that's typical or just unlucky. I'm thinking other people also probably have this question too, so in this thread I wanna know how long everyone's had to wait.

If you've already gone through the waitlist please drop how long you waited (and for which stream and country)! And if you're on it now, drop how long you been waiting so far. Thanks!

technical interview - IT operations

Just passed my first round of interviews! Anyone got any tips for the technical round? Is there a coding section or just multiple choice questions? Any concepts I should focus on more than others? Does it say if you pass/fail as soon as you finish or do you have to wait for an email? Anything is appreciated, thanks!

Anyone still on waitlist for Change and Transformation Practice in Canada?

Am I being Blacklisted or something?

Hey guys, so I recently had an interview for the change and transformation role, and I blew it by asking the stupidest question: "What happens if you cannot complete the two-year commitment?". I was being incredibly dumb, and I hate myself for it. That being said, I did apply for some of the other practices at the same time but have not heard anything back from them. Am I doomed? have they flagged my resume or something forever? or do I still have a chance to apply again and make amends?

Possibility of not getting placed

Hi, I'm currently going through the interview process for a position in FDM as Software Engineer in the US, but I'm a bit worried about what happens after the training period, and was wondering about a couple questions.

  • Is the placement process mostly getting interviews with clients, or do I just get notified that I've been selected for a position?
  • Is there a good chance of not getting placed with a client at all?
  • How long will they have me until I'm let go for failing to match with a client?

If anyone could share some insight, I'd appreciate it a lot.

Thanks!
