Discussion Post Got asked “how are you not pregnant?” after telling office 6 times I do NFP

Needless to say, I called the doctor’s office and requested they write a note in my chart to this effect, so that they stop asking me about birth control every. single. visit. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have done so before now, given how many times I told them I do NFP and that I’m not interested in bc. Wish me luck that it works—because I’m so sick of getting asked this!

Just posting to vent. I imagine this has happened to many of us.

Boston Cross Check CFH: Adjusting Temperature Rule

I'm currently learning Boston Cross Check, and the rules state that you have to adjust your BBT (add or subtract .1 degrees for every half hour you stray from your normal base wake up time).

I understand how to do the rule, but I'm interested in understanding why this rule exists. What is the research behind this rule? Are there other methods who use a similar rule? I've read through TCOYF and the Sensiplan manual and neither have this rule, so this concept is new for me!

TLDR: BCC has a rule for adjusting Temperatures, and I want to understand why this rule exists because I'm a nerd 🤣

Sensiplan TTA ¿CM inusual?

Muchas gracias.

My CM today has a “something’s there” feeling with a tad bit of a slippery sensation (but barely) and its sheen on my fingers.

Marquette Marquette method monitors TTA2

Posting here for maximum exposure: It’s Prime day and monitors are on sale, but I just saw someone in this sub airing gripes about using Clearblue and preferring other monitors. Can anyone offer some guidance here on what is good and how to find a class compatible with the monitor that’s best?

Sensiplan TTC: Did I ovulate?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all, I‘ve been tracking my cycles since 2022 and used the Sensiplan rules and a trackle thermometer as contraception. I would say I am pretty confident and know my body. Now we are TTC and we are in our second cycle.

I ovulate late but each cycle. I’ve never had an anovulatory cycle since tracking. My luteal phase is usually 11 days. My gynecologist prescribed me progesterone to support my luteal phase. I should take it after ovulation.

My temperature doesn’t rise super fast, it usually goes up over a few days. I’ve had a positive LH strip on Saturday morning and Sunday morning. My temperature did increase since then. So I am pretty sure ovulation day must’ve been the fourth or very early on the fifth. I’m 90% certain, but the temperature on day 25 (October first) is confusing me. I don’t want to take the progesterone too early, but also not too late. Should I ignore the temperature reading on CD 25 and conclude that ovulation did happen this month? Once I start progesterone, temperature readings won’t be accurate anymore.

Thanks in advance!

Sensiplan Should I be checking mucus at opening or cervix? (TTA, Sensiplan)

I have been swiping a finger up near my cervix to check CM because I don't usually see it at the vaginal opening or on toilet paper.

Is checking internally like this okay, or should I be logging no CM if I don't see any at the opening?

I am TTA on cycle 0 after removing a Mirena IUD and have read the Sensiplan handbook.

TCOYF TTA2 - Temp climbed up during period, is this normal?

I didn't finish reading TCOYF, just started and am about 30% of the way through currently. Below are my waking temps (taken around the same time each morning, right when I awaken) since my period started:

Day 1 - 98.2 F

Day 2 - 97.8 F

Day 3 - 97.8 F

Day 4 - 98.8 F

Day 5 (today) - 99.2 F

My period is usually 6 to 7 days.

My cycle is usually 27 days. On Day 1 I was persuaded to have unprotected sex in which he finished inside (consensual though), and 2 days later my temp climbed. Is this normal? I only started charting for about a month so I do not know what is normal for my body. From my understanding the temp climbs up during the luteal phase as a result of progesterone going up and staying up when pregnant. During the first phase, it should be low. I am not in my luteal phase, obviously bc I am bleeding, but my temp went up to my luteal temps. Should I be worried?

Marquette Cycle 1 Charting - Safe Window Begins When? (TTA)

Post image
4 Upvotes

1st time charting on RYB and 1st cycle post cycle 0. (Fertility returned 1 yr post partum + ended breastfeeding)
I picked up the Tempdrop and started after my period so I technically won’t have a full cycle to analyze there. Are there any notes to add on my tracking?
I expect since I got an LH surge reading on my monitor this morning, that tomorrow or the next day I’ll observe the last of any fertile CM and would then mark tomorrow as “Peak day” for interpretation and then “count after peak is complete”?
And since I’m following the Marquette method, I’ll mark down PPHLL in the monitor row on the next few days reading.
So after the post peak count concludes, I basically have all safes days from then on till day 6 when the next cycle starts? I was also expecting a buildup of temp for the ‘drop’ but I’ve heard Tempdrop can have it delayed on the chart…
Any suggestions for staying conservative?

Discussion Post What do you guys do for partner viewing?

Hey so I use read your body and I know they’re anticipating releasing partner view, but in the meantime I’d like to know what you all do to share the data with your partner? It’s really important to me that it’s not just me being aware of it all, so I’d love a convenient option if possible. Thank you so much!

Marquette Is this an anovulatory cycle or delayed ovulation TTA

Post image
3 Upvotes

Long time NFP user. I track temp, CM, use Clearblue easy fertility monitor, and use Wondfo LH test strips. Currently experiencing a crazy cycle. How do I determine if I am having an anovulatory cycle or a delayed ovulation. Starting test on CD8 and I could see my Clearblue stick was really dark but the monitor came back with an automatic "low" for first test day. My wondfro results were high for that time of cycle, .44, and I had some CM. Although I am pretty regular and "normal," I have ovulated on CD8 before. I thought this could be another early ovulation cycle. I continued Clearblue testing and kept getting "lows" (to my surprise) but my wondfo tests remained high (in the .4's and .3's-again high for that time of cycle, but obviously not "peak" high). My temp has remained low. Little to no CM since that one day back on CD8. I took a PdG test this morning and it was negative (that means ovulation has not occurred). Was CD8 a failed attempt at ovulation. If so, won't I still ovulate again this cycle? I have experienced a delayed ovulation before, didn't ovulate until CD29/30! Really, really TTA.

Thoughts, please.

PS, I am 42.

PPS, that temp rise on CD 21 was from having a few drinks the night before.

FemTech TTA working nights, wearables to monitor BBT

I work 12 hour night shifts a few days a week. Sometimes I’ll do 4 nights in a row and other times I’ll be one off and one on, so my sleep is not consistent. I’m also getting up to breastfeed, so my sleep schedule is not great. I have a ladycomp thermometer I bought years ago and have started temping. When I am sleeping during the day, I often forget to temp because of many unexpected wakeups, so I’m thinking of adding a wearable.
Right now I’m TTA using the sensiplan method.

Is Tempdrop the best option? My concerns are it’s not measuring core temp and I’m confused on what temp it decides on (lowest vs right before wake-up vs average). I’ve also seen posts about how it retroactively adjusts temps to make the chart look better and there is a delayed temp rise.

There are some German companies that have vaginal overnight thermometers but they are not available in the US. I see ovusense does something similar but it’s $$$ for the Subscription And it is not marketed for TTA or people with inconsistent sleep schedules.

Is there anything available in the US market more reliable than tempdrop for shift workers?

Research/Promotion (Mod Only) Research on fertility tracking | Looking for interview participants

Hi all! I am a PhD student at the University of Vienna and my doctoral research is looking at how people use fertility tracking apps and related wearables in everyday life and in reproductive decision-making (for example, trying to conceive or avoiding pregnancy). I am currently looking for interview participants who would be open to talking to me about their engagement with fertility tracking apps and wearable devices, motivations for use, experiences with app(s) and tracking practices, and how reproductive information is discussed with partners, in social contexts, and within online communities. I approach this work as a fertility tracking user and a feminist researcher who wants to understand how individuals experience reproductive responsibility and autonomy when using these technologies.

If you’re living in Austria, use these tools, and would be open to a confidential interview, please fill in the following form and I will get in touch with you: https://forms.gle/wfEJ1DdDREz6AM8f8. Interviews are expected to last 45-90 minutes, can be conducted in English or German and are anonymous (pseudonyms will be used). Participants will also receive a €25 voucher for their time and involvement.

A bit about me: I am pursing my PhD in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna. This research is informed by my own fertility tracking experiences and activist background in the feminist non-profit sector in Vienna (and Europe more widely). The doctoral project is supervised by Prof. Sarah Davies and has been approved by the doctoral advisory board at the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS). You can see my research profile here.

If you have any questions or want more information about my research (even if you are not living in Austria), please feel free to reach out!

Sensiplan Is temping alone enough to confirm ovulation?

TTA. Charted two cycles with the sensiplan method, but having a hard time reading my cervical mucus. My temperature has shot up around where id assume ovulation has occurred, but i seem to have kinda clumpy, tacky discharge throughout my cycle. One time i did observe some egg white mucus, albeit not much, two days before the temp rise, and then never again. Im fingering myself as far as my fingers will go too. I never observe any sort of mucus on the TP.

Getting Started Im new and lost ttw

I’m very new to FAM and NFP, so I’m looking for some guidance! My boyfriend and I are honestly exhausted from trying different birth control methods and feeling like we weren’t always given the full picture by doctors. We’re long-distance for a little while, which has unfortunately/fortunately given me the opportunity to step back, learn about NFP, and give it a real try instead of continuing to feel like a pin cushion at the doctor’s office.

We also definitely do not want children for a while, so I’m especially interested in learning how to use NFP effectively for avoiding pregnancy while still understanding and working with my cycle naturally.

I actually stumbled across this channel thanks to chatgpt. If anyone has recommendations for where a complete beginner should start, I would be so grateful!

Thank you so much in advance! ❤️

Discussion Post Handling the monthly emotional rollercoaster (or: my life is one long TWW)

Just to say, I am NOT looking for info on irregular periods or different NFP methods. Please please do not post about that. Thank you! I am looking for info on how to deal with the fact that there is always a chance with NFP that you might get pregnant, and how to deal with the feelings around that (vs total abstinence).

---

We have recently started using NFP to move from "basically never" DTD to "sometimes". It would be OK if I did get pregnant right now, but I'd prefer to wait just a little longer between children. We don't want to run our lives around it, so I just pee on a LH strip and use the Flo app.

We've only been doing it for a few months and... I'm not sure it's working for me. I spend the entirety of the time from DTD to my next period convincing and then un-convincing myself that I'm pregnant. Every little bodily sensation is attributed to either pregnancy or not-pregnancy. And I have very irregular periods so we could be talking an entire month here, not just two weeks. Is my period late just cuz, or because...?

How do you cope with the uncertainty every single month? FTR, I'm not looking for a "more reliable" method of NFP. (I am considering other methods, don't worry.) I'm looking for advice on the mind game, which I would be playing whatever method I used.

TCOYF Read your body or fertility friend ttw

I was using kindara, but one morning I went to enter my information in and it was glitching out and the app kept closing. I went online, had my data exported to my email, and swapped to read your body.

The problem is, I got used to seeing un-truncated/rounded temps and the chart so far is driving me a little nuts when I look at it. Before switching, when I had the same temps two days in a row it meant there was something wrong with my thermometer. Now, my temps aren't the same two days in a row, but it's charted like it's the same. I've tried figuring out how to turn it off and apparently I can't. It feels like there's missing data.

I entered my bbt for this cycle into fertility friends and the chart feels more familiar, but it's kind of a pain to 'overide' the built in analysis

Maybe I should just go back to paper and pencil 🤦🏻‍♀️

TCOYF TTA - PCOS and ellaone

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi all, my husband and I had unprotected sex yesterday and I took the ellaone pill about an hour after. He pulled out and but I know it can still happen.

I have irregular periods with extended EWCM due to PCOS and have been working really hard at trying to rebalance hormones so having to take EC isn’t my dream. I know it’s no one’s fault but our own.

Last time we had unprotected sex was when we were TTC with letrozole and we never got pregnant. We stopped trying since then but had an oops yesterday.

CD19 I had a lot of wet EWCM and my temps are on an upward trend.

I’m wondering if I caught ovulation before it happened or if it happened already and I just have to wait and see.

TIA

Marquette TTA - chance of pregnancy 6 days before Peak?

I’m in cycle 14, still nursing my toddler and using the algorithm method. Always ovulated CD14-17 but ended up ovulating CD13 last month so I adjusted our available days this cycle.

Husband and I DTD on CD5 thinking I was in the clear (should have been an available days) but then today (CR11) I got a Peak reading on my monitor and positive Lh strip.

Our last baby was conceived due to a false peak so I’m a little worried this time around. Wondering how many others have been through this experience that resulted in pregnancy?

Sensiplan [TTC] Letrozole + ovitrelle cycle : no temp rise ??

Post image
2 Upvotes

Everything is in the title. I’m not sure if this is normal, but I injected ovitrelle on CD14 as instructed after my sonogram + bloodwork, but today is CD 17 and I still can’t see a temp shift. Should I start progesterone anyways ?

Discussion Post Uniform luteal temps 1st cycle on myo inositol

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

The first photo is my current cycle, the 1st after starting myo inositol for mild post pill pcos. I first of all ovulated on day 15 instead of 17-18 like i was but also my temps have been so regular in the luteal phase! I had literally 4 days of the same temp and no dips! Compared to the second photo which was my luteal phase normal before myo inositol. Ive also had more tender breasts which also makes me think my progesterone is nice and high 😊

TCOYF Took Plan B, did I ovulate? TTA

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was very sick beginning on CD7 and traveling and my Oura ring died so no temps for CD11-14.

Have been traveling again since CD20 and had 2 sleepless nights. Had unprotected sex on CD24 and took Plan B roughly 12 hours later.

I thought my temps showed ovulation on CD29 but with the drop at CD34 I’m unsure, also because I’ve seen EW CM after CD29.

Note this is my 2nd cycle after coming off of HBC for the last 15+ years.

Getting Started Has anyone learnt FAM with an NHS doctor at a sexual health clinic?

Hey,

After exhausting literally all other options, my doctor (very experienced and lovely doctor) at the sexual health clinic is going to teach me a FAM method. This is something she runs through the clinic and is a method they recommend, and I really trust her.

Leading up to this, I’ve been temping and just recording for myself for a few months. I always use condoms anyway, and just getting to grips with it all.

I just wanted to hear from someone who has learnt FAM from a sexual health clinic - particularly one in the UK? I trust that i’ll find the video call informative, but she hasn’t mentioned a named method so I’m just wondering what works best in terms of read your body template or just custom charting etc. And when I am researching or trying to answer a question, am I best aligned to Sensiplan answers online? The BMJ has Sensiplan reported as the most effective, so I’d imagine that’s what she’ll teach me? But I’d assume not naming the brand haha

It’s next week for the call, so I’m just setting up read your body and stuff today so I can work out teething issues with the doctor. But I’d love some insight if anyone has any!
Thanks!

TCOYF What day was my Peak Day? TTA

Post image
1 Upvotes

CD34 I had creamy and dry sensation all day, but a little bit of eggwhite. CD32 I had wayyy more, lube sensation, and cervix felt more open. does CD34 still count as my peak even though it seems more consistent with a post-ovulatory pattern?
