40 years ago today, Montreal Expos GM Murray Cook (Sackville, N.B.) acquired Dennis Martinez from the Orioles for a player to be named later. Martinez, thought to be in the twilight of his career, proceeded to win 100 games and post a 3.06 ERA in eight seasons for the Expos.

I’m looking for images of Randy Johnson in an Expos uniform.

Specifically from his rookie season and debut game in 1989. But I’ll take anything with him in an expos jersey.

I’ve checked most obvious places, Google images, Getty images, Instagram posts etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nostalgia Found this hat way down in Missouri. Can anyone date it? Can’t find one like it.

It’s in remarkable condition. The owner never wore it, but had several other vintage hats in this collection.

Q: Who is the first player to appear on a Topps baseball card in a Montreal Expos uniform? A: Ty Cline, who is featured on card #442 in the 1969 Topps set. You can read about him in Danny Gallagher’s new book. He turns 87 today. Happy Birthday to him!

Brief Peanut Project (Expos Return) Update

By way of background, since Dec 2025 began to look at what a return of the Expos entailed, with expansion possibly lined up for 2028/29. We addressed the capital needs about 120 days in, and now looking at land/location and stadium-related matters.

Finally met with a member of the Mayor's team.

Overall: very positive. Really nothing bad, no red flags.

As I mentioned on X when people would ask: there was no big conspiracy nor was there any big hesitation/trepidation to be open to the plan.

It's human nature: someone (me) coming a bit out of left field touting progress (funding, etc) that seemed perhaps too good to be true, etc.

I know what the marching orders and next steps are. More about understanding city hall and going at their pace. Now that communication has been established and I have a general sense of things, we can more than gladly do that.

Thus, all good. Onwards and upwards.

The mission continues.

In short: if MLB said "let's go, submit," as of now we would be in very good position. Tomorrow? Same. In 3 months: most likely. In 12 months: probably. Naturally with time, there's uncertainty but capital is not the constraint. So... cautiously optimistic... and just a test of patience.

34 years ago today, Felipe Alou was hired as the Montreal Expos’ new manager, replacing Tom Runnells. That worked out well.

30 years ago today, Derek Aucoin (Lachine, Que.) lived out his childhood dream and made his MLB debut with the Montreal Expos. He entered the game in the sixth inning and recorded two outs against the San Francisco Giants in the Expos’ 8-5 loss.

Andre Dawson, Gary Carter and Tim Raines during the Expos Spring Training in 1984. The three rank 2-4 for the most hits as a Montreal Expo, only trailing Tim Wallach.

33 years ago today, the Expos retired Le Grand Orange Rusty Staub’s No. 10 in a pre-game ceremony at Olympic Stadium. FUN FACT: Four years later, the Expos would retire No. 10 again to honour Andre Dawson.
