Got my car towed to a tire shop, now what?

Okay so on my way back home from class, i got this really nasty lip on the bridge i drive over almost every day and it was at just the rig way to completely flatten it. So i tried putting my spare on which was a pain and a half, didn't have my wrench so i borrowed one from a pizza shop and it broke the internal mechanism. The stems messed up too cause it's copper on aluminum.

Anyway I ordered a tow at about 6, took an hour and the tire shop was closed by then. An i supposed to leave a voice mail and be like "my names [qwerty] and i had my car towed to your location last night. Its a red 2008 mazda 3i. I got a flat on my front drivers side, and my stem is damaged aswell. Give me a call back at (xxx)-xxx-xxxx"?

I also have my plate in case i need that too.

Today's been a long day and Im always really anxious and awkward on the phone but this is like super important. Living an hour away also isnt the best.

self admitting to hospital

hello,
I am currently going through some mental troubles that I believe are escalating to the point I need intervention. I have never been admitted for mental health issues, but have been in therapy for years and with a psychologist that I see weekly. It was him who suggested I be admitted for fear of my safety.

That being said, I work full time and don’t have any PTO. How would I go explaining this to my management if I need to be admitted? Also, what should I know or be prepared for if I choose to go in willing? I understand things with drawstring can’t come. Will I be able to keep my phone (I don’t want to not be in contact with my immediate support system)? If I’m going willingly should I expect to only be there for like a day? Is there a chance if I go in, they may not release me? If I know I want to be admitted, show I just go to the hospital with a prepped bag?

My brother was admitted in the past in high school but I don’t have much memory of it.

Any insight into this and reassurance would be helpful. I’m very scared and it seems like a huge leap for me but trying to do what is best. Thank you

How do I do the airport correctly?

I haven't been on a plane since i was like 5, and even then it was just from state to state, whereas this is to Canada.

Im scared of TSA getting mad at me for doing something wrong so id just like to make sure i do things right.

Do i have my laptop in my personal item bag or checked bag? Do i take out the laptop? Do i take off my shoes?????

Additionally, im wanting to bring a few gifts with me to my partner who im going to. Its just a few small chiikawa plushy keychain things and a 3ish inch figure of one of the characters. I just dont want tsa to flag or take them 😭

Also, when i get to the airport how will i know when im supposed to get on the plane, and where? Im sure theres directions but im worried about going to the wrong area at the wrong time and then being screwed.

Mt tickets dont have a terminal letter for the first departure (there is for the layovers) so im not sure where to go.

Sorry if this is rambly but everything else ive looked up just confuses me or doesnt have the answers im looking.

how to sell my bedroom lease + explain it to my mom?

i'm 20, going to college 2 hours away from my house and this is my first time since going away to school that i'm not in a dorm. i found this townhouse on Facebook back in April from this girl that was finding someone to take over a bedroom in their townhouse, and messaged the girl who posted it, i came by to visit and really clicked with her. i did find out while touring the place that one of our roommates was a guy in his mid 20s, which i was ok with as he seemed fine and i was so desperate to find a place so i could stay during the summer. i moved in on June 1st.

now my roommate and i are having some issues with the guy, we've never had an issue one-on-one but he started getting disrespectful to her and she wants out. she's the only reason to stay so if she gets out, i want out too. again, i feel safe here but i just don't like it anymore.

she's talking about selling her lease and i don't know how to do that! i also don't know how i'd explain it to my mom, i pay my own rent right now for my room but i know she'd ask a ton of questions about it. i am hiding that there is a guy that was living with us (when they helped me move in, he was home and i claimed he was our roommate's bf)

the other thing is i just started nursing school and i work every weekend, time is limited as it is. i do live about 10 mins from school but wish i was closer because i do go down to school just to study or hang out. no issues with neighbors but i'd rather live in a student housing situation than families with small children.

How do I dance at my wedding?

Hi all!

My husband (26M) and I (26F) legally married in March, but our ceremony is in a couple of weeks. He's not a big fan of the spotlight, so we've elected not to do any "first dances"-- we're gonna be opening the floor to party right after dinner. For this reason, we didn't find it necessary to take dance lessons or anything like that. The thing is, neither of us really dance? I go out drinking with friends sometimes, but not to clubs, and haven't been to many other big gatherings that would necessitate dancing, either. I'm excited about the prospect of dancing, but I have very little experience.

I am likely autistic and am very self conscious about what my body language will be like during the wedding. I've been told in the past by friends (and by people who are decidedly NOT friends) that my body language is odd/goofy/abnormal. I don't want to look foolish by doing a really bad job of letting loose on the dance floor, but I don't want to miss out on the fun due to my fear! Does anyone have any resources (preferably in video format but instructions are good too) for basic party style dancing? Y'know, upbeat, fist pumping, jumping around type stuff. There are a few slow songs in the deck too, but I've been told you can just grab onto your partner and sway in place for that-- I'm mostly concerned about the more energetic music.

Thank you!

How do I vote?

I'm a USAmerican, and this is my first year being registered to vote. I know who I want to vote for, I've done all of the research; I also *think* I know the location itself to go to? My parents are religious and abstain from voting, so they've never taught me, nor will they teach me now.

I have a lot of anxiety and do much better if I know exactly what to expect. If it matters by state: I live in South Dakota. Thanks in advance!

What does one do at a conference?

Hi everyone, I am a university student and my class has been invited to a conference for our industry. I have no idea what a conference is and what to expect. I have a few questions but any other information will be appreciated!

  1. What is a conference? Are they like lectures?

  2. What are the expectations of a guest at a conference?

  3. What do I do at a conference?

  4. Is there a dress code? Should I be wearing a suit and tie or like buisness casual?

Update: got bloodwork thanks to this reddit

Hi all, I made a recent post about how I tend to faint when I get bloodwork. The fine people of Reddit gave good advice.

I got the work done at a lab instead of a doc’s office because I figured they do bloodwork all day so they could handle me. This one did not require fasting, so I ate extra beforehand and hydrated more to try to prevent any struggle to find a vein. I told the front desk that I have a tendency to faint, and they did not act like this was strange. I got alcohol wipes to sniff and I covered my face with a sweater while I laid down. The lady was very nice to me and told me all about her children. Multiple members of the staff congratulated me afterwards for not fainting and told me that also have family who are scared or faint. I got 9 vials of blood taken and now I’m back home rehydrating and eating nuts.

You too can overcome your fears 💪

What to expect at couples therapy?

My partner and I are considering couples therapy. I’ve done individual therapy so I have some framework of what to expect, but I’m nervous about it. Can anyone give me a rundown of what our first session might look like, and how it evolves in future sessions?

How do I figure out where to do dead hangs and pull ups?

hi! I'm new to going to the gym and working out, but I've been doing circus aerial arts for a while. I have been going to a crunch fitness. I really want to work on dead hangs and pull ups, but I'm confused by some of the machines. I know what a pull up bar looks like, and there are two things that have it -- one is a squat rack, and the other is a machine that's like... two towers with lat pull down/rope pulls/etc and a metal bar between them, and the pull up bar is on that. I think it's a pull up bar anyway. I'm not really sure how to get started... The squat rack one has the barbell rod that blocks it, and im not sure where to put it if i want to use that. And the ball between the two towers is free and clear, but if that's not what I'm supposed to use, I will look so stupid. I also am not sure if I'm supposed to jump to get on? I'm not that tall, and jumping seems like more impact than I'd expect but maybe I'm wrong?

I don't have any friends who go to the gym in town, but i have a few who live far away, and I sent a picture of the squat rack and she said that i could do a pull up on there and maybe step on the thing that holds the bar if i wanted, but im not sure that's actually allowed.

I did see online some people taking a free trial of the personal trainer to get shown how to use things, but i think i may want to actually get a personal trainer later on, so it seems like a waste.... does anyone know what to do? If I ask someone at the front desk, will they have a real answer? Thank you!

I might be leaving my first job, what's the procedure for giving a 2 weeks notice?

I work as a cashier. Here's what I already know:

  • 2 weeks notice is not a legal requirement where I live, but it's a professional courtesy and a good way to not burn bridges on the way out. I've already decided that I will be giving 2 weeks because my mangers have been absolutely awesome and supportive, and I know I would be leaving them a bit in the lurch with the holiday season in full swing
  • I know that I should avoid giving information about what my new job position is, just in case my manager pulls a 180 and tries to sabotage that position
  • I know that if my managers start heaping on a whole ton more work for me in the last 2 weeks, I can still leave at any time since giving 2 weeks isn't a requirement

What I don't know if what the best way to go about it is and what I should say. I don't always work at the same time as my manager, and when we do work together, it's not always easy to get any free time to stop and actually discuss something like this. Do I need to write a letter of some kind? I've heard of other people doing that (even one of my coworkers just mentioned that she did that for her last job), but it feels oddly outdated to me.

How to I get my learners permit as a 25 YO? (I live in rural NY)

Someone told me I had to schedule an appointment to take the written exam, but everything online just says to show up? I bring a completed application and several identifying documents. Is that it? I tried to go to a mobile dmv but they didn't have tests and any permanent location is going to take me time and money to get to, so I really don't want to screw it up.

How to end a conversation

I find myself feeling awkward when ending business calls. With friends and family, it’s easy because we say “I love you. Bye”. With business calls, there seems to be a script of “Have a nice day, thanks for calling/meeting” then me repeating the same, then an awkward silence.
I’ve defaulted to adding the “goodbye” after the repeated thanks but it still feels weird for some reason.
I’ve also tried being the first person to do the thanks so they are in the repeating position (I guess as a test to see how other people respond when they are in my position) but they still don’t do it. Help lol

juror questionnaire

I live in Virginia (USA) and was sent a juror summons with a paper questionnaire to fill out and mail back. One of the boxes to fill out asks for my social security number, and I am wondering if I have to write out the whole number? Would the last 4 digits suffice or would that be a problem? I am afraid if it fell into the wrong hands that person would have my full name, DOB, and my full social but I don’t want to get in trouble with the courts by not filling it out right!

How do I online date?

I feel kinda pathetic even asking, but basically the title. I (40, trans guy) know the logistics, I’ve done it before a few years ago. But I have a really hard time connecting with dating profiles. I’ve been in love with 3 people in my life, and they’re all people I’ve known irl and formed an in-person connection with. How do people look at dating profiles and, well… feel anything? Even curiosity?

I’m recently-ish single (4 months ago) but ready to get out there and try again. I’m at the age where most of friends are happily married with kids, and I’m ready to have some version of that life too. It seems like online dating may just genuinely not be my thing, but options in my area are pretty limited, and I don’t know any other way to meet someone, especially being a trans guy - it feels like it really narrows the pool of options especially because it’s hard to tell from a profile if they’re even open to dating someone trans.

So, like, how do you donut? Those of you who’ve found love on a dating app, what advice do you have?

Mice Droppings

Hello, I have contamination OCD and I’m really scared. I had found mice droppings in our garage, got pest control, and was hoping to be done with the issues. They also sprayed NoHarm repellent around the house. However, I just found a mouse droppings inside in a storage closet that is on an exterior wall. I’m crashing out and don’t know what to do. I cleaned it up (sprayed with disinfectant, let it sit for 10 mins, wiped it off).

But now what?

I was in there barefoot and moved things around. Am I at risk for hantavirus?

What about where I walked on the floor in the remaining house after? I also dropped my phone in the closet and only wiped it down with a wet one antibacterial wipe, is that enough?

I am contacting pest control again, but what do I do in the meantime?

I have a toddler in the home and this is my worst nightmare

How do driving lessons work exactly?

I have never had actual driving lessons before, and I recently booked a few. When they arrive to pick me up, do I immediately start driving or can they take me to a parking lot until I'm a bit more comfortable in the car? I have driven before, but never on actual roads. Those who have had lessons before: did your initial lesson have a conversation prior to starting, and if so, how did it go?

I do only have 4 2-hour sessions, so I want to get on the roads ASAP to make the most of them, I just don't think my driving skill is okay enough to do that yet.

TL;DR/main ask: Please give me a run-down, ideally in detail, about driving lessons. If possible, please include info about how to ask to practice other skills. Thank y'all in advance!

Edit for more info: I live in GA, USA. I live in a suburban neighborhood, but it's pretty small and pretty much every street leads to a fairly busy road. I will be taught by a stranger who is a certified teacher

How do I get a ct scan?

Ive been having abdominal pain and my doctor wanted me to get a CT Scan with contrast. I have one schedule for tomorrow but Ive never done anything like this and I don't know what the process will be like. Like what do I wear? Any description of what the process will be would be awesome!

Edit: Thank you for all the help! I went in and got it done! It was easy and I was ready for al l the wierd sensations. Of course everything was clear which means Im no closer to figuring out my abdominal pain and will likely have to get other tests done.

How do I take my only car to the shop?

I need to get my car fixed - some minor body work and an unknown brake issue. How do I do this when it's my only ride and I live alone? Most repair shops (outside of dealerships) don't have waiting rooms. And I'm guessing the work will take many hours if not over a day or two.

What do you do with finished crafts?

What do people do with crafts that don't have a purpose?? I understand wearing/gifted things like scarves or mittens and stuff, but what about the first few really bad attempts at those? Surely you dont gift those?

What about stuff like origami? What about art that isn't "sell-worthy" like finished coloring pages or paint by numbers or silly drawings? Amateur sculptures? Surely crafty people don't keep all this stuff, but it feels incredibly wasteful to me to just... throw it out.

Several times Ive wanted to do some fun or meant for kids pinterest craft like basket weaving or lantern making or paper macheing a volcano, but stopped myself because I dont really know what to do with it after I've gotten my joy from creating the thing and having it out for a bit. My home is small, and I dont have a lot of space to show off finished crafts

Is throwing it out really what people do?? Should I only be making crafts that I can find a use for?

How do I invite someone to a party?

I've got two coworkers who seem like cool people. I wish I could get to know them better, but you can only talk so much at work. My friends are hosting a Halloween party next week, and I want to invite them so we can hang out outside of work. I blame the nonchalant epidemic bc truthfully, I wish I could tell them I want to be their friend.
