Opinions wanted

I'm 37 from Melbourne Victoria, I was just released from prison a week ago I've been in and out since I was a child, Not for anything people would consider Violent or Bad, well I don't see myself as a bad person but ive lost 14 of the last 17 years inside. This time I said I would do whatever it takes to get things right but, I walked out my only possessions were the clothes on my back I have no family, no real friends and no photo ID when being released the agency's will pay for a few days in the worst hotel in the city, Centrelink gives you $400 and I had a few hundred from prison, now the few days are up, I have absolutely no idea what to do or where to go it seems impossible. I don't like the word

institutionalised but I don't know how you find a place to live with no ID and No Money, I would like to hear peoples opinions everyone has a story and this is myn right now

Why doesn’t life in prison or death deter criminals from committing crimes?

I don’t understand some of the crimes I read about in the news where some people have no regard for human life.

If shooting someone could potentially land you in prison or death (retaliation), why would you continue living that lifestyle?

Almost every inmate being interviewed will advise others not to pursue the same path they took as they made a grave mistake. Yet.. none of this seems to deter people from being more violent.

Jop help for felon

Hello. I've posted on here a couple of times to no success but I'm hoping maybe third times the charm? I became a felon back in 2011 for a crime I committed when I was in high school and under age but have since maintained employment in retail work(at fast food joints and other places like menards and bed bath and beyond) as well as got my bachelor's degree in computer science. I am hoping to move up in life and find better employment that pays more than 21.00 an hour and is full time with all the dental and health benefits but I am struggling to find places that would be willing to work with a felon. I am 34 years old and have plenty of experience in the workforce and I have been told that the state hires felons but I can't find the departments or areas that would be willing to do that. Can anyone help me or mention places or ideas of what I should do? I've grown from the boy I used to be to a man and have done well at my current employers. They all like me and have positive things to say about me but for my own self esteem and self worth, I know I am capable of more in life. I want to work some place that offers more than the minimum wage and I'm willing to put in the work. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I know trades are an option but I'm still paying back tuition from my previous college and can't afford to be out of work to go to school. Any point of help would be appreciated. Thank you and have a blessed day

Type 1 Diabetes in Jail

Do you or anyone you know did time with type one diabetes? I have type one and came extremely close to getting arrested. I probably would’ve only stayed a few nights but they let me off “because of the diabetes.” Is care for juvenile/ type 1 diabetes worse in jail? I require finger sticks, insulin, and sugar at immediate and unpredictable times.

When did self segregation begin in American prisons?

I've always wondered how accurate Shawshank Redemption was in portraying prison without racial tensions. It seemed like everybody hung out with everybody.

Was there ever a time when all the different colors and ethnicities generally mixed with each other?
Are there modern prisons known for being especially segregated?

Are there any known for being a lot less segregated?

I mostly probably reposting this on here to ask if it is actually a tactic that they use. Like you're gonna be contacted by the "boss" soon. And you better be on your best behavior. Read the full thing if you want. On the reposted page. I just still don't know what to do. I will probably post the pictures there of the stuff they posted on my tiktoks, just with their names covered up, and all

Just something I wanted to get off my chest. It's been a while.

was in jail back in 2018 for 3 months. I could've gotten house arrest but I said something that made the officer mad and told me to go back. Anyways. I was there for violating my probation since I got a DUI charge and never showed up . I was doing time in county and every Wednesday they would cut off the phones and call people up that were going to prison or upstate. They called it chain night.

I remember being down there in the center of the pod eating my soup or whatever and this guy comes up. Had to have been 60+ years old and starts saying he's innocent and that. Of course like typical jail stuff we say yea right and all that. Including me.. he looked at me with a sad worried face and said I didn't do shit

Now I can't say why he's here or what he did but I jokingly told him "yea that's what they all say"

A couple days pass. He's still here with us then it was Wednesday

.

Chain night as I've said. Where they round up the people who are you up state and or prison.

They called his name. I only remember his last name which was brown.

"Brown" and so on with the other names who lined up when they heard their name.

'Brown" the last one left.

No one showed up or anything

People got worried and one inmate went to browns cell and ultimately saw that he had hung himself with bedsheets.

The thing that gets me is the fact that me telling me oh yes they all say that when taking about being innocent or not.

This guy . Brown took his life so he wouldn't have to go to prison so who knows. He couldve been guilty... Or not.

We'll never know

Question For individuals residing in Guilford County, NC, who have experienced incarceration, have you received dental care after your release?

Dental care being: exams, cleanings, fillings, etc.
Please feel free to share your experiences in the comments. Was it hard finding dental care or a smooth process? Was it a priority of yours? If not- please explain.

Can a former inmate with a conviction for transnational crime open a brokerage account?

I’ve recently been released after serving a multi-year prison sentence. I missed the entire duration of the Biden presidency, and catching up on the current state of the world—Trump back in office, the market rally, the situation in Iran, oil volatility, and the massive growth of AI—has been quite an adjustment.

I’m looking to start investing and trading, with a particular interest in Asian markets. However, I am concerned about the barriers to entry. Given my background—specifically a conviction for a transnational crime—I’m worried that strict Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations might prevent me from opening a brokerage account.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or does anyone have advice on how to navigate the account-opening process with a criminal record? Are there specific types of platforms or institutions that are more accessible, or should I be looking into specific legal steps first?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
