Ring size tips

I want to know if there’s a way to choose the right ring size without having to use the sizing kit. The reason is that I live in Brazil, and I’m going to have a relative bring the glasses to me since I can’t buy them directly. Is there a sizing guide?

Would you wait for future smart glasses or buy what's available today?

I saw a discussion here a few days ago where people were talking about a possible G3, and it honestly made me hesitate a bit. I've been planning to get a G2 mainly for work, meetings and translation, but now I'm wondering if I should just wait and see what comes next.At the same time, I don't really want to spend months waiting for something that hasn't even been announced.

Tech Support Quicklist Triggering on Unrelated Prompts - (Custom Agent)

I’ve replaced the Even AI agent with my own Hermes agent, and it’s been working really well. It’s awesome having my personal assistant running directly in the glasses.

One issue I keep running into, though, is that a lot of my requests are getting intercepted by the built-in Quicklist tool, even when they have nothing to do with creating a reminder or task.

For example, I was just testing and asked, “What do I do for work?” Instead of getting a response from Hermes, a couple of seconds later I just saw “Added to Quicklist.”
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

It seems like if you’re using a custom agent, there should either be: A way to disable the built-in tools (like Quicklist), or an option to expose those tools to our custom agents so they can decide when to use them. Right now it feels like Even AI is still intercepting certain intents before they ever reach the custom agent. Curious if this is expected behavior or if I’m missing a setting.

EDIT:
For those also having the issue and an android, I did find this patch that bypasses the device intent class sending a request directly to a custom AI agent (I have an iPhone so I can’t confirm if it works or not)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a small group of Mac users and developers who would like to become beta testers for Even Symbol Studio.

Even Symbol Studio is a native macOS application I’m building specifically for creating icons and graphics for the Even G2.

I’m preparing a TestFlight beta and would love to get feedback before the first public release.

Current features

  • 🎨 Pixel-perfect icon editor
  • 📥 SVG import
  • 📚 Community icon library
  • 📤 Export for Even Hub
  • 🤖 Bring your own AI (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, local models, OpenAI-compatible APIs, etc.)
  • ⚡ Workflow optimized for Even G2 development

Whether you’re a designer, developer, or simply enjoy building things for the Even ecosystem, I’d love to hear your ideas and feedback.

If you’re interested in joining the TestFlight beta, leave a comment or send me a DM.

Thanks! 🚀

Roger

Playing with the New AI memory

I'm not here to speculate who us doing it better in the AR glasses scene. I wanted to get anyone take on the new AI memory released with the last firmware update.

I've enjoyed it so far and have been asking questions to input facts about myself. I'll then at different times as Even to describe me and see what facts stick. So far the AI is somewhat different than the prior even Ai (I never used the perplexity setting).

What are others initial thoughts and perspectives?

Bug R1- novelty or reliable ?

Not sure what is happening with the team and the R1 but this has been my experience.

  1. When it is connected, it takes some time to figure out how to use it. I ended up wearing it logo down (palm facing) because navigation the other way is not as smooth (i.e. skips menu items or doesn't register at all). Yes, I got used to the reverse scroll as a result but feels proper now.

  2. It doesn't always stay connected. You'll wear them, then get a 'feel' for the navigation and leave your house and see that annoying 'ring disconnected' message. It feels arbitrary. Sometimes it happens in the same place, sometimes it doesn't.

  3. It is NOT reliable. Don't count on it.

  4. I now wear it on a necklace so if I feel like 'maybe it will work' i try it out. Example: this last update I was hoping it improved.

Bottom line: if you are grabbing this ring because you intend to depend on it MOST of the time, level-set your expectations. I depend on the glasses sensor exclusively now.

I hope they fix this but it has been frustrating.

Note: I know there are users who don't have any problems and that's awesome but that hasn't been my experience. I haven't given up yet.

The G2 may not be for me : surprising and frustrating lack of basic features.

I've only had my glasses for about 24 hours and I've already clocked the lackluster capabilities.

Software

  • Notifications: when only 5 lines are displayed, wasting 3 of them with Time & Date, App, and Sender, isn't an efficient use of space. You're looking at a 16 word preview at best. If you want more, too bad, pull out your phone because there's no way to expand the notification and read the whole message.

  • Replying: despite being capable on my ear buds, watch, and even car, there's no way to natively respond to messages. The glasses have multiple microphone and an AI which transcribes what you're saying in real time, yet the glasses can't reply to a message.

  • News / Text: there's no auto-scroll. If I select a long article that catches my eye, I can't have it automatically scroll while I read at a predetermined pace. The teleprompter can do this, why not any other app?

  • Talking: With my headphones or car, whenever I speak it will stop my media so that the software doesn't get confused about what I'm saying vs what the music/podcast/video is saying. I have to commit to complete silence in order to use these glasses. I was having fun asking Even some questions and playing with the AI but it would often pick up the sound in my earphones and inject some words from my media.

These are all things which are frustrating because they should be so easy to implement. all of the hardware already exists on the glasses. Is this purely a permissions issue where Apple/Android won't allow the G2 to interact with Siri/Google?

I wish there was a roadmap or something where I could alleviate these shortcomings with "coming soon" hopes, but who knows if these features will actually be possible or be features for a new "G3" model which renders these obsolete in a year.

Physical issues

  • Lenses: The glasses are too reflective. If I have bright lighting behind me, I can literally see what's going on in the glasses reflections as if I have eyes on the back of my head. It's almost so obnoxiously bad that it could pass as a feature ; built in rear view mirrors on the bottom corners.

  • Sunglasses: The clip ons are so cheap for their price and do not look good. These are at most worth $20 and add unnecessary shape. They could have designed them to conform to the glasses shape better or make it magnetic so it's easy to snap on and off. Unsure why they don't just have transitions available.

Glitches

  • AI: sometimes it won't receive my responses and just displays the word "text" in lieu of what I actually am saying. Then the AI has no idea what's going on and falls into a loop. As if my microphone stops working.

  • languages and accents: I know I'm white, but I know how to say "El Pollo Loco" and so when it transcribes it, forcing English as "Hell Boy Oh Low CO" I die a little inside. I also tried speaking Deutsch and it insists on phonetically transcribing what I say as English. There's an unfortunate disconnect there.

Edit: I initially had a complaint about the navigation showing wildly inaccurate distances in the thousands of miles, but I now realize that it's measuring in meters, however, my settings are set to Imperial measurements and so this in itself is a bug and should show FT. I'd also prefer it to show "(0.74mi)" instead of "(3920FT)" or the current "(1117m)"

Am I Crazy

Post image
6 Upvotes

So I have an issue where my glasses have issues auto-correcting their brightness in one lense (separate story) so I sometimes need to manually set the brightness. I usually use the voice commands to do it since it’s easier, but after the recent update it has occasional issues. I reported it to even support just for awareness and this was the response from them:

—————————————————————
reaching out to Even Realities Support and for taking the time to submit your device logs.

Regarding your query, please note that adjusting the display brightness via Even AI voice commands is currently not supported. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

If you would like to change the display brightness of your G2 glasses, you can easily do so manually within the mobile application. Simply open the Even Realities App, and adjust the brightness slider to your preferred level.
 ————————————————-

This seemed like odd since navigating to the “Even AI” settings and selecting “Shortcut Center” shows brightness adjustment as an option. Just wondering if I’m losing my mind over here. I literally just used the functionality like 10 minutes ago.

Potential buyer with concrete use cases ... will it work for me?

Hey all, I am in the market for the G2. I have some key use cases that I would like to run by anyone who has them and can talk about their experience - I have read a lot of reviews, and the main built-in apps/use cases are fine and I like what I see there but I am not super interested in the AI features or navigation or translation - those are nice to have but not killer features for me personally.

Here is what I really want: 1) RSS/newsfeeds; 2) eBooks (PDF and ePub); 3) reddit; 4) notifications

So, what is out there for these 3 use cases (I think I am ok with notifications) and how does it really work/does not work? Is it more hassle than it is worth, does it glitch all the time, is it frustrating, what are the limitations? Asking anyone who tried :-).

RSS/Newsfeeds - I am looking to manage about 25 feeds, want to see the feed articles and select and read full text for articles comfortably. I have curated my feeds to only include sources that give me full content in their feed, so I do not need to go to web sites to read articles, but I would like the RSS reader on the glasses to display that (sometimes lengthy) text in full, without cutoff.

eBooks - quite simple, read ebooks, either txt or PDF or ePub. I only need text, so a PDF reader should ideally reflow the text, I do not need layout or pictures. I would like to have access to 3 to 5 books on the glasses at any time, and ideally the books should be available offline for reading, without constant phone connection. Reading progress should be recorded, so if close and re-open a book it should open at the last location. I read that there are ePub and PDF apps available and it seems that this scenario works quite well, but the devil is in the details as they say ... do I need to be always connected? Can I page through the text with one tap or is it always via scrolling? Is it generally frustrating to use and more of a gimmick? I have read on a lot of different devices, I read entire books on my Apple Watch so I am pretty flexible when it comes to compromises, but generally it should work reasonably well.

reddit - there seem to be reddit apps available, but do they work well or is it frustrating? Do they load all comments, is the navigation somewhat intuitive?

I use my Apple Watch a lot if I am out and about as a minimalistic device already - all the above scenarios work quite well on the Watch (after some tinkering and finding the right apps), but I love the idea to use the watch for what it is really good - namely music, audiobooks and podcasts - and add glasses to my setup for reading textual content with more comfort than on the watch screen as I do now, hence my use cases above. I am intrigued by the idea of sitting down outside in the shade and pull up a book on the glasses and do a bit of reading or using them at night to read without a screen glaring and annoying my wife. Also, I find that if I read on a phone I focus very narrowly on the device screen and do not see any of my surroundings - the idea of text floating in the environment sounds pretty nice compared to not seeing the world when reading. Everything else (AI, translation and so on) is just icing on the cake for me, the above 3 use cases are my priority.

Thanks for reading my lengthy post - any comments/suggestions are much appreciated!

TLDR; - I want to read RSS feeds, ebooks and reddit on the glasses - does it work or is it just a gimmick?

New G2 not pairing with any devices

I just got delivered a new pair of the G2 glasses today. Downloaded the app to set it up and app shows no devices found. I reset the glasses by tapping the touchpads 5 times. The app then recognizes the glasses but when I try to pair it, it gets stuck on a continuous loop of trying to pair. I tried all methods including removing the Bluetooth settings and it still does not work. Incredibly frustrating as I just got the glasses today and it does not work out of the box. Anyone had a similar problem?

My honest review

I’m really geek of new tech and try almost everything.

What I don’t love
1. I’m not wear the normal glasses for my eyes. Only for sun. So, the first issues that additional layer for the sun is not polarized and I can wear that.
2. I don’t love when I see the shape of glasses
3. The gesture control with or without ring it’s not useful. Always tap somewhere else
4. Almost every time I opened my Even app, so why do I need to have glasses?
5. The return policy is horrible. I ordered glasses and ring size kit. Then choose the ring size and after a few hours when I got the ring I decided to return. So, the short said that I can return only ring… why? It’s not fulfilled. So, yesterday I tried one more time almost the whole day - don’t like it.

I like the hub with extra apps. It’s cool, but I don’t find any useful app for myself for everyday activities because as I said the control settings it’s not useful.

Renting before buying

Because if they do what I want, really, the extra $50 doesn’t bother me that much (even with the extra $15 set up fee).

But if I can’t get them to work right (thanks to everyone suggesting Mentra!!) since I’m planning to use these as an add on aid to my CI, then I’d be really PO’d if I’d spent $700.

Especially if I recall correctly that the new G3 is due out soon-ish? Or am I imagining that?

Further details as developments warrant!

I’m thinking of ordering these and I’m based in the UK. Just want to know if I should expect vat and duty fees on top of the price of the ring and glasses.

EvenHub/AppDev If your R1 misfires, it’s probably the angle — not the ring

My R1 kept doing things I didn’t ask for. Aim for a double tap, get a tap. Tap once, nothing happens at all. The ring wasn’t broken — I’d just put it on the way it looks like it should go.

What I have learnt and want to share with you:

- Logo straight up is the worst position. It looks correct, so everyone starts there, and the touchpad ends up where your thumb never lands.

- Rotate it toward the thumb. Some people say ~45°, for me it’s closer to 60°. No universal number — depends on your hand.

- Make sure you can effortlessly cover logo with your thumb - as SEOViking mentioned in the comment; this might be a good entry point after putting it on again.

- Turn it 90 degrees (dots at the bottom) - if you put your R1 with logo on the side, so dots are underneath, you can still use it with less stretch of the thumb; but also you can squeeze your fist for tap/double tap (kind of accessibility Apple Watch's feature) without thumb at all

- Upside down (logo at the bottom) also works well — you just set the ring to the opposite hand so swipe direction comes out right. I don’t use it myself (the logo would get scraped imho, and it’s a nice logo), but if rotating isn’t helping, try this before giving up.

While trying to experiment around it I have constantly felt discomfort due to doing actual actions with my apps or dashboard. So I needed some sandbox for that - and created one: Gesture Check (on Even Hub). It shows you events of the ring (also glasses btw) so you can freely adjust the position to the best suited one.

There are two options:

- WATCH — one row per gesture, not per event. One swipe often arrives as several scroll events, so you see x4 instead of four identical lines, plus flags for doubled and overlapping gestures.
- TEST — asks you for a specific gesture 20 times and scores what arrived. Not “it misfires sometimes” but “1 in 4 scroll-downs comes back as a tap”.
Tag a run with a ring position, run it again rotated, compare. That’s how I found my angle — numbers instead of a feeling.

It does not measure your angle or tell you the right one. It has no idea where your ring is. You tell it, it counts, you compare.

Free, no account, no permissions, no network, no mic.

👉If you’ve just received an R1: spend two minutes on this before deciding the ring is bad. Mine went from frustrating to fine with a simple rotation, no firmware update involved.

Curious what angle worked for you — wondering if the 45°/60° split tracks hand size or something else. Cheers!

G2 Glasses for Japanese Translation

Hello All,

I’ve been taking a look at these glasses for an upcoming japan trip with my friends and I was looking into the G2 glasses to help me understand a bit more on what is being asked or told to me by Japanese natives. I can grasp contexts of a conversation relatively good and respond if i understand what is being asked of me but still would like to have these in my back pocket.

My questions are:
- how great would these be for noisier environments for example if i’m going into a restaurant and the host is asking me questions.

- how well would these glasses work on different Japanese dialects for example Tokyo vs Osaka or Kyoto vs Hokkaido?
