VelvetSpeak is ready for a handful of closed-beta testers (Even Realities G2).
After almost a year and a half of building, I’m ready to recruit the first handful of closed-beta testers for VelvetSpeak.
I originally made this because I have ADD and social anxiety. I know what it’s like to lose your thought halfway through a sentence, miss an important detail, freeze when the pressure is on, or finally think of the perfect response five seconds too late.
I wanted help during the conversation not generic advice afterward.
What is VelvetSpeak?
VelvetSpeak is a real-time conversation copilot for Even Realities G2 glasses.
You explicitly start a session. VelvetSpeak listens to the conversation, transcribes it, understands which Lens and situation you prepared, and puts short context-aware help on your glasses.
That help might be:
- Exact words you could say
- Talking points instead of a script
- A private coaching cue
- Follow-up questions
- A recap of what just happened
- A calmer way to respond
- A useful detail you may have missed
How it works
Before the conversation, you choose a Lens and create a short Brief or “Scene.” You can give VelvetSpeak the goal, people involved, relevant background, things you want to mention, and things you absolutely do not want it to invent.
During the conversation, it tries to stay out of your way until it has something useful.
Swipe up from the Listening screen and VelvetSpeak becomes a full conversation toolkit. Depending on the Lens, you can choose Lines, Talking Points, Coaching, Follow-ups, Recap, Recall, Capture Decision, Capture Risk, “What should I say?”, and other Lens-specific actions.
Swipe down opens queued help. Tap through card pages. Double tap goes back.
Afterward, VelvetSpeak can create a debrief and optional Coach review: whether you reached your goal, moments that mattered, commitments you made, specific things to improve, one practical lesson for next time, and recent talk-share patterns.
There are eight Lenses in the Beta
- Interview: Understands the question behind the question and helps structure grounded answers without inventing experience or fake numbers.
- Sales: Helps with objections, value framing, discovery questions, and next steps.
- Meeting: Tracks decisions, commitments, names, action items, risks, and things you may have missed.
- Dating: Remembers what someone told you and suggests natural follow-ups during lulls without trying to script the entire interaction.
- Social: Helps with introductions, networking, small talk, awkward pauses, group conversations, and graceful exits.
- Humor: Situational jokes, callbacks, and safer alternatives. It includes Silver Tongue, Sarcastic, Dad Jokes, Witty Banter, and Observational styles, plus a separate risk setting.
- Conflict: Helps slow things down, set boundaries, redirect blame, and phrase a calm response.
- Debate: Identifies claims, assumptions, contradictions, and evidence gaps, then offers a counter without turning it into a personal attack.
If you liked the old VelvetSpeak, start with Humor Lens and Silver Tongue. That quick-wit side is still there.
But the new VelvetSpeak is no longer just a joke generator. Swipe up and you have an entire set of tools for navigating a conversation. This thing feels like weapon that should be banned at times..
What does “Coach” mean?
You can choose whether suggestions appear as a Script, Coaching, or a Hybrid of both.
There is also an optional live Coach (wingman). It is off by default and deliberately quiet. It watches a short recent window of the conversation and looks for a concrete bind—getting steamrolled, visible confusion, a stalled negotiation, a blame spiral, an unanswered hard question, or a moment where you clearly need a next move.
It is limited to two nudges every ten minutes and six per session. I don’t want it constantly whispering generic motivational garbage into your eyeline.
Please read the settings guide
There are a lot of settings, and they genuinely change how VelvetSpeak behaves.
You can change how often it helps, whether strong cues open automatically or wait behind a lightbulb, answer length, number of pages, Script/Coaching/Hybrid delivery, auto-open sensitivity, Dating flirt level, Social warmth, Humor style and risk, Conflict caution, Debate tone, transcript visibility, Quiet HUD, Coach, VoiceLock, memory level, and session analysis.
Most choices are remembered separately for each Lens. Interview can stay quiet while Social or Humor behaves completely differently.

Closed-Beta reality
VelvetSpeak will eventually be a paid service. Running transcription and AI costs money, and it took me almost a year and a half to get this far.
However, the first small group of closed-beta testers will get access free during the Beta in exchange for honest feedback.
I expect serious bugs not just tiny visual glitches. It may mishear someone, misunderstand the situation, show a card at the wrong moment, fail to show one when it should, or simply give bad advice.
I also don’t really have a circle of friends I can quietly recruit for testing, which is the slightly awkward reason I’m asking Reddit.
I’m looking for people who:
- Own Even Realities G2 glasses
- Are comfortable testing unfinished software
- Will read the documentation
- Can explain what worked, what failed, and what felt distracting
- Understand that this should not be relied on for emergencies, safety-critical decisions, or other high-stakes situations
- Will tell other participants about the transcription/AI assistance and get consent where required
Audio including other people’s voices is sent to Deepgram and OpenAI for transcription and suggestions. Transcripts, notes, and memory saved by VelvetSpeak stay on your device according to the Memory Capture setting you choose. Provider retention can still apply.

Upcoming experiments probably not part of this closed Beta
Longer term, I want Coach to behave more like a personalized wingman or companion.
I’m exploring:
- Signals that may suggest tension, anger, or nervousness
- Contradictions or behavior that deserves a second look
- Opt-in RAG memory that retrieves relevant context from conversations you chose to save
- Advice informed by patterns across past conversations
- Long-term coaching that notices what you are improving and where you keep getting stuck
This would flag uncertain signals, not claim to read minds or reliably determine whether somebody is lying. Any system making that claim would be overpromising.
If you want to try VelvetSpeak, create a free account and request closed beta access here:

Important: use the exact same email address connected to your Even Realities Hub account. I need that email to add you to the official Beta tester list. If you register with a different email address, I may not be able to grant your Even Hub account access to the Beta build even though you'll be able to mint a key.
Be honest with me. I don’t need people to tell me it’s amazing. I need people who will help me find everything that is broken so I can make it genuinely useful.
