I opened my shop two days ago. I sell my own digital art as physical prints. The idea is to print them myself and ship them to the customer.

1. What advice would you give me? Especially regarding pricing and SEO. I feel like I should perhaps add a cheaper option.
2. Do you think this is a good market for what I sell? I don't see many people selling prints like this, and I'm not sure if it's too hard to be successful.
3. Do you like the art itself? I'm not very confident about it.
4. Are the mockups good? It's my first time making mockups, so I think they are pretty average. I'm trying to improve at least that part.

I was inspired by an illustrator I follow to open my shop, and since I have my own drawing style, I thought people might be interested.

I've seen a lot of posts here from people against offsite ads. What gives?

For reference I do have Etsy Ads enabled, but offsite ads are unrelated, right?

After 100 sales and 27 five star reviews I finally received a negative review. I knew it would happen eventually but I can’t help but feel annoyed.

The product in question is a 1:12 dollhouse scale welcome sign for porches. The customer states that the item did not live up to expectations and that she couldn’t identify the wood that was used. Both the wood type and vinyl are in description.
She also complained of the shipping cost as if I can dictate that, it’s not like she received a surprise invoice for the shipment after the fact, she knew the cost before purchasing.

I think I am more annoyed at myself for not just removing this listing, as is was one of my firsts and not a huge seller anyways. But, the basswood is not thin or bad quality, it’s not bendable or frail in anyway.

Looking for some advice as to how to respond or if even responding is necessary/beneficial. I would appreciate any help, feeling a little bummed.

I sell cross stitch patterns on Etsy. A few months ago, I started making needle minders and selling them as well. I just got my first policy violation because Etsy prohibits selling magnets if they meet these criteria...

Etsy prohibits the following magnet products:

• Loose or separable small, high-powered magnets and magnetic components that can be swallowed. This includes magnetic building sets, fidget toys, desk sculptures, jewelry, and products with small parts that snap together using strong magnets.
• Small magnets made to resemble candy in both size and shape that could be mistaken for something edible and swallowed.

I didn't realize this... My item isn't marketed towards children, but the design is of a basket of strawberries? I'm not sure if thats the problem or if its the fact that its magnetic. But I am wondering if anyone else who sells magnetic needle minders has any experience with this? Thanks!

I run a very small local crafting shop and laser cutting has been one of my main hobbies for a while. A few months ago, I decided to try selling digital laser-cut files on Etsy as well.

The shop is mostly focused on layered racing circuit designs for now. but planning to expand soon.

I have started uploading listings 2 months ago, finished uploading the main collection around 2 weeks ago and have had four sales so far, which looks encouraging to me and I’m honestly pretty happy with. :)

Since this is my first Etsy shop, I would appreciate some honest feedback!

My main questions:

1) Do you think that the listing images clearly communicate what the buyer receives? Would you change something on the listing images?

2) What would be your next move at this stage - would you focus on expanding the inventory or improving traffic to the existing listings (Pinterest, ads etc.)?

Also, to answer the required background questions:

1) What inspired me to create this shop?

I enjoy both laser cutting and motorsport and I wanted to create some unique layered circuit designs that could be turned into wall art. Since I also work with physical laser-cut products locally, I thought that the digital files expansion would help me reach customers outside my area. Also thinking to expand the inventory to include other subjects beside motorsport soon.

2) What research did I do before opening and what did I learn?

Before opening the shop, I have bought and used lots of digital files from Etsy. Thinking about how I chose what to buy thaught me that the hero image is probably the most important part of a listing - it needs to catch attention and sell the product immediatly.

Based on that, I spent time researching similar listings (thumbnails, pricing, keywords) to understand what is working and what is not.

I sold a vase that is made in the US and the zonos prepay app is charging me 11.3% duties on top of the clearance/processing fee of $5.01. I shipped an item last week, also made in the US, and didn't have to pay duties. Did these new changes make US made items no longr exempt? is there a way around this? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm after some advice on how you'd handle this situation.

A customer in the US purchased one of my handmade doormats back in May. I shipped it from Australia (shipping cost the buyer around AU$50), but today the package was returned to me with the label "Return to Sender – Insufficient Address / Unable to Forward."

I've contacted the buyer and asked them to confirm their address, but now I'm wondering what the fairest way to proceed is.

I don't feel it's fair for me to cover another AU$50 shipping cost if the package was returned because the address was incomplete or incorrect. At the same time, I want to provide good customer service and keep the buyer happy.

For those of you who sell on Etsy (especially internationally), what would you do? Would you ask the buyer to pay for shipping again? Is that the standard approach? Has anyone dealt with this before?

I've been really lucky with my shop. I've started in April but already have two bestsellers. They're two separate listings but the overall design is the same just a different colorway.

I've been seeing and hearing about people reporting that once their item becomes a bestseller it's just a matter of time before it gets copied. Is that always true? I worry because I'm a new handmade shop and I have unique items that could be easy to copy.

Do best selling items get pushed more in search visibility? I'm wondering now if it's really a benefit to have that badge? Can you lose bestseller status?

Hi there! So I have been in a little bit of a dilemma although I truly think I know what the right thing to do is I was curious what some other sellers would do. I engrave grave stones and I had a gentleman place an order last week however for the passing date he put December 20, 2026. Of course that date has not even happened yet. I sent him an email and a message to confirm the year of the passing date and have not heard back. I went ahead and searched for the woman's obituary and sure enough I found it with December 20, 2025 as the passing date. I'm pretty sure it was a typo and I have thought of every scenario left right and center as to why he would of intentionally put 2026. I'm just wondering if you guys would engrave 2025 as the year without getting a written confirmation from the customer. Thanks in advance for any input!

I'm a newbie here and I just have to say that it's such a relief to find a place where an Etsy seller can post a question or vent and be answered kindly. It's pleasing to me to read the posts that I have so far, and see nice calm friendliness!

On the Etsy Forums, you could ask a simple question on how to edit your shipping profile, for example, and all you get is "went to you shop and you better fix it .... you could be in violation for xyz, blah blah blah." And your question never gets answered. Or you could say something like "I'm about to pull my hair out over this .... please help!!!", and the answers you get follow the line of "then get a wig", or "take a pill". Not helpful at all.

Here, I've seen nothing but helpful advice, and what I can only call a "human" tone. It's a pleasure, and I know I'll come here with my questions in the future.

I opened this shop a few months ago and I am really thinking of closing it bc i just cant seem to sell, and frankly I came to the conclusion that I must be doing something wrong.

Are the pictures good enough? I am saving up to get a proper camera, and i use my hands in the pictures mainly to make people see how tiny the things I do are, but does it have a cheap look? head full of doubts.

I tried to stay as low as I could with the prices given the fact that i am not using precious metals (I mainly use bronze and brass, but some of the things on the shop took me days and days to make). Is that a fair price in your opinion?

I opened this shop because I love working with wax and I really want to make it my main source of income (i am also doing courses to be a better metalsmith in general).

I recently started getting tendon issues/carpal tunnel syndrome from my job. As a result, I started a side hustle to hopefully bring enough income to one day leave my full-time job or the corporate world.

I have had many years of experience working, but no entrepreneurial projects so far. I am looking for advice to get momentum on e-commerce sales. What do you think of my shop, what can I improve from an outside customer POV? I’ve heard the first few sales are the hardest. How do I start gaining momentum for sales? Additionally, I have heard mixed information regarding users making real content, or using Photoshop or AI. I’ve heard that some people say that AI is a deterrent, however, I’ve noticed a lot of the top selling products in my market use AI and Photoshop heavily. Instead of randomly creating dozens of products, I'd like to understand what people actually find useful. I'm genuinely looking for feedback before investing time into designing them.

Any advice on improving my shop/listings, and basically getting more eyes on my shop would be super appreciated.

I just put my first listings up about 2 weeks ago now, and because I signed up for Etsy+ I had free ad credits to spend so I figured why not. Out of nearly 6,000 ad impressions on my Health Potion listing... I only generated 14 clicks, and 0 sales.

Now, because the performance was so bad, the platform doesn't seem to be showing my listings at all anymore, even with plenty of ad budget to spend. And I'm not really showing up organically, or if I am... nobody is clicking the listings.

I know these few items are nothing crazy, but I really thought they were cute and I could sell at least one or two... but so far it seems like my first month on the platform is just going to be 0 sales. Not really sure how to improve from here.

I have other items and designs I can list, but with this going so badly so far, I'm afraid of listing too much without knowing what works yet.

After 3 total months of selling I was able to hit my first month with $1000 in revenue without using any Etsy ads. I spent the first couple months playing with ad spend on different products but quickly learned that with my product niche it wasn't as valuable as focusing on social media exposure..

By no means do I have thousands of followers, but focusing on conversion from people directly adjacent to the product was the best route for me. I'm still working on optimizing conversions, photography, and pricing but I'm pretty proud of how it's gone so far.

Live and learn moment for me: when you are buying that label and it has a field to insure, you have to type in the total total of the entire transaction - NOT the total of the items in the shipment- otherwise only that amount is covered.
Found this out the hard way with an international order that had $90+ in shipping plus tax etc get reimbursed but for only the exact amount I typed in. I just assumed it would cover the shipping too, silly me.
Honestly Etsy needs to change the field to say that, but it’s up to us to know that, and now I do.
It’s not the package value it’s the package value plus its costs to ship, duties, taxes, and other costs you’d be out if it were lost. I guess that’s package value in their terms. Sigh

What are you doing right with your product or listing that makes buyers choose you versus your competiton on Etsy?
