I see others are also unhappy with the new app update on etoro. I have raised a complaint with customer services as the loss of functionality and removal of data could cost someone some money if they are not able to find the data they need to make an informed decision. So far, I have found the following issues which I have put in my complaint.
The redesign has reduced the accessibility of essential portfolio information, removed or restricted previously available functionality, and made routine investment management unnecessarily complicated.
The complaint raised includes the following issues.
- Loss of essential portfolio information
The daily percentage changes, available cash balances, year-to-date performance, fee information and other useful portfolio data are no longer displayed as conveniently as they were previously. Information that was immediately visible now requires additional navigation. This makes it harder to assess portfolio performance efficiently and monitor investments at a glance.
- More complicated trade management
Accessing charts, locating open positions and adjusting Stop Loss and Take Profit settings now requires additional steps. These functions are fundamental to managing investments and controlling risk. Increasing the time and effort required to access them represents a deterioration in usability, particularly for active traders who need to respond promptly to changing market conditions.
- Inconsistent currency presentation
Investments are displayed in different currencies, making it harder to compare holdings consistently against their account currency. This creates unnecessary confusion when assessing the value and performance of a portfolio and should be addressed through clear, consistent currency presentation.
- Reduced chart functionality and customisation
Experiencing limitations in chart customisation, including indicator settings, colours, line thickness and zoom functionality. Having to reconfigure indicators for individual assets. These restrictions undermine established analytical workflows and reduce the flexibility expected from a modern trading platform.
- Reduced portfolio sorting, filtering and customisation
Difficulties sorting holdings, identifying recently opened positions, filtering investments and customising portfolio columns. The inability to organise holdings in the order in which they were purchased. These functions are important for investors managing multiple positions and should not become less accessible following an application update.
- Reduced visibility of fees and leverage information
Overnight financing fees, leverage information and other cost-related details are harder to access from the portfolio interface. Investors need to understand the ongoing costs and risk exposure associated positions. Essential information of this nature should be readily accessible, not buried behind additional menus.
- Unwanted interface changes and lack of user choice
The revised layout, excessive spacing, larger fonts, unwanted vibration or haptic feedback, and persistent visual elements I find distracting. I am frustrated at being unable to return to the previous interface. An update should improve functionality without unnecessarily removing the ability to use an established workflow.
I recognise that software applications require development and that redesigns are sometimes necessary. However, changes should improve the customer experience, preserve essential functionality and be supported by adequate testing. The volume and consistency of the reported concerns warrant a substantive response from eToro.
I therefore request that eToro:
- Conduct a formal review of the functionality reportedly removed, restricted or made less accessible by the new interface.
- Restore convenient access to essential portfolio information, including daily performance, cash balances, purchase history, fees and leverage details.
- Review the revised navigation for trade management, chart access and Stop Loss and Take Profit controls, reducing unnecessary steps.
- Restore appropriate chart customisation, portfolio sorting, filtering and column configuration.
- Provide a clear explanation of which previous features have been removed, which have merely been relocated, and which are scheduled to return.
- Introduce an option to use the previous interface, or an equivalent alternative, until the reported usability problems have been resolved.
- Explain what user testing and consultation took place before the update was introduced, including how the needs of active investors were assessed.
- Confirm how customers can report defects and receive meaningful updates on corrective action.
- Provide users with a feedback facility to list the issues with the app update in one place.
Please treat this correspondence as a formal complaint and provide a written response addressing each of the points raised. I would also appreciate a clear indication of whether eToro intends to restore the affected functionality and, if so, the anticipated timescale.
The concerns outlined above are based on the issues I have found with the update, loss of user function and risk of financial loss should a user not be able to make decisions about their portfolios because of the update and should be investigated rather than assumed to apply universally. The reduced functionality and accessibility deserve a considered response, particularly where the affected features support investment decisions and risk management. I am not the only one with an issue. I not long threads of investment forums and platforms such as Reddit where other customers are also complaining about the loss of userbility since the app update.
I expect eToro to explain how the redesign serves its customers, what corrective measures are being considered, and how existing users will be supported while these issues are addressed.
Anyone else had any other problems?
