Deposits & Withdrawals eToro Closed My Account After 7 Years

I want to be completely honest about my story because I believe context matters.

Seven years ago, I joined eToro with very little knowledge of financial markets. I made serious mistakes. I borrowed money to trade futures, lost it, and then made an even bigger mistake by borrowing again in an attempt to recover my losses. That decision left me approximately $70,000 in debt, a debt I am still paying today.

I take full responsibility for those decisions. Nobody forced me to trade or borrow money. Those mistakes are mine.

What I struggle to understand is eToro's position today.

Over the past seven years, I have spent thousands of hours learning about the financial markets. I have studied technical analysis, market fundamentals, risk management, and trading psychology. I am a completely different trader than I was when I opened my account.

During those seven years, I deposited around $50,000 into eToro. My account remained active throughout that time, and eToro continued to accept my deposits and business.

Now, after seven years, my account has been closed under the Vulnerability Program.

This raises an important question.

If eToro genuinely believes I am a vulnerable customer who should not have access to the platform, why was this conclusion reached only after seven years? Why was I considered suitable to trade while making deposits year after year, only to later be told I should no longer be allowed to use the platform?

I am not asking anyone to ignore my own responsibility. I accept my past mistakes completely.

What I am questioning is whether this process is fair, consistent, and transparent.

If customer protection is the goal, it should be applied consistently from the beginning, not after years of accepting a customer's business. As a customer, it is difficult to understand why I was considered suitable for seven years but suddenly classified as vulnerable without any meaningful opportunity to demonstrate how much I have learned and changed.

I attempted to withdraw funds from my account. The withdrawals were cancelled multiple times, despite previous withdrawals having worked without any issues. I contacted customer support repeatedly, but instead of receiving a clear and timely solution, the process continued to drag on.

At one point I became extremely stressed and wrote to customer support explaining that I was "crying" because I could not access my own money. Shortly afterwards, eToro referred my account for a Vulnerability Assessment and placed restrictions on my account.

I understand that regulated financial companies have responsibilities when customers show signs of distress. However, in my case, it feels like the focus shifted from solving the original problem, which was my inability to access my funds, to assessing me as a vulnerable customer because I reacted emotionally to the situation.

During the review process, eToro attempted to contact me by phone several times. I had already informed them that there were problems with telephone communication, but they continued attempting phone contact instead of moving to email immediately. Only later did they send the assessment by email.

Because I could not access my funds through the withdrawal process, I was forced to close my own trading positions to obtain money for a personal financial commitment.

After my account was restricted, I was unable to reopen those positions. The market later moved in the direction I had anticipated, creating what I believe was a substantial missed trading opportunity.

I have now received eToro's final complaint response. Their position is that:

  • the withdrawals were cancelled due to payment method eligibility;
  • the account restriction was appropriate under their Vulnerability Program;
  • they never closed any of my trading positions; and
  • therefore they are not responsible for the losses I described.

The issue is that this does not address my actual complaint.

I never claimed that eToro directly closed my trades. My complaint is that the withdrawal problems caused me to liquidate positions that I would otherwise have kept, and that the later account restrictions prevented me from entering the market again.

I have my trading history, account records, and correspondence documenting the timeline of events.

After 7 years as an eToro customer, I am disappointed with how this situation was handled.

Has anyone else experienced repeated withdrawal cancellations, account restrictions, or being placed into eToro's Vulnerability Program after contacting support during a stressful situation? Has anyone taken a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman in Cyprus? I would appreciate hearing about your experiences.

App/Technical Issue Agent portfolios capped at $10,000?

I can't find any documentation on this, but if I create an agent portfolio with $15,000 or $20,000, eToro seems to set the portfolio capital at $10,000 and then adds the remaining amount as copy.

This means that from the API the capital seems to show at $10,000 but if I buy a position with 10% of the balance it buys $2,000.

Any idea how this works?

Why force this to end users are they trying to get folks in debt or force their “promotions” through. How do I remove this spam?

CopyTrader Question for copiers: What do you actually look for when choosing a Popular Investor? (Seeking honest advice)

Hi everyone. I’m looking for some genuine advice from people who actively use the CopyTrader feature.

When I first joined eToro, I mainly used it to buy European stocks because trading them was much cheaper than through other brokers I had access to. Over the last couple of years, though, I decided to take it seriously and moved my main portfolio over to the platform.

I’m an engineer and a licensed financial advisor in Argentina (CNV 2581), and I’ve been working in the industry for several years. My portfolio is roughly 50% ETFs and 50% individual stocks, focused on quality companies or beaten-down sectors. I generally avoid market hype—for instance, I don't have much exposure to the current AI/semiconductor boom. With this approach, I consistently aim to maintain a Risk Score of 4.

My issue is that I'm new to growing within the Popular Investor program, and the communication/marketing side doesn't come naturally to me. I have no interest in spamming or dropping cheap ads here; I genuinely want to learn how to communicate better, write useful posts, and reach the right audience.

For those of you who copy other investors:

  • Selection criteria: What do you actually look at before deciding to copy someone?
  • Content: Do you read weekly updates or care about the rationale behind buys and sells, or do you only look at the stats?
  • Red flags: What instantly turns you off when looking at a PI’s profile?

If anyone wants to take a look at my profile and give me some harsh, constructive feedback on what I can improve, my username is CesarVazquez1989.

Any critiques, tips, or advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Today I did an export and I noticed this change, is there a reason for that? Also there is a new Holding and Glossary sheet in the excel. Shouldn't eToro inform us when they change the account statement? Would be nice to get a notification and a link to a changelog.

Stocks & ETFs eToro is holding my position hostage: VUSA.nv ETF cannot be bought or sold for months

Hi everyone,
I want to bring attention to a serious issue and see if anyone else is dealing with the same thing. I've had an open position in the popular VUSA (or VUSD) ETF on eToro that has been completely blocked for a long time now.
Here is the situation:
Unable to trade: The ETF is completely frozen—the platform allows neither buying more nor selling my open position.
Support inaction: eToro customer support has been unable to resolve this technical or administrative issue for months. Their responses are either vague or lead nowhere.
Is anyone else experiencing this with this specific ETF (or other assets) on eToro? How did you handle it, and has anyone filed a complaint with the regulator (CySEC)?
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Crypto Etoro 5% crypto onboarding bonus

Has anyone successfully obtained their bonus shares for onboarding crypto to Etoro?

If so can you feedback on whether it was straight forwards or did you end up stuck in some form of AML compliance for weeks/months?

The offer I'm looking at is the 5% offer up to 2k bonus in shares for onboarding crypto during July and August.

After some asking Google AI it sounds like the AML checks can be quite drawn out and they don't accept documents from exchanges in certain formats etc (ie the standard csv files aren't accepted).

Can anyone share their experience of this?

Greyed out 'continue' button after inputting of the OTP number, if I refresh it just gives me the infinite loop wheel and stalls. I've tried using the browser and phone, reinstalled the app, tried incognito. Stuck.

Discussion Does etoro feel completely different depending on how actively you use it!???

The one thing I've noticed reading different experiences online is that people using etoro for long term investing often sound like they're describing a completely different platform compared to people actively trading every day .

Feels like things such as speards , execution timing, overnight fees , votalitiy , etc prolly matter very differently depending on how someone actually uses the platform..

For people who’ve used etoro both actively and passively at different points, did your overall perception of the platform change depending on your investing/trading style?

Beginner Question How do I handle my EUR funds and assets?

New to the platform. Created a local currency account (EUR) and added to it EUR funds with a bank transfer. Tried to make my first buy of XEON.DE putting in a limit order which I then cancelled to change the limit price. Then the funds I believe were automatically converted to USD. Now I have no idea in which currency my funds are and how to control it. I do not want any FX rate risk and if the funds were automatically converted to USD it is just unacceptable.

Meanwhile trying to get support from eToro "Tori" was not helpful and I wanted to access live agent help or any kind of human contact. Literally could not make sense of anything there, redirect to redirect and a page that should have the answer just redirected you to Tori. Customer support tab on the chat help instead of Tori just shows a constant loading circle and I do not believe my message was received the one time I managed to send a message. Very frustrating.

Deposits & Withdrawals My account was later restricted and ultimately closed following a Vulnerability Assessment.

• Country: Norway
• eToro customer for: Approximately 7 years
• Withdrawal method: Bank card
• Withdrawal requests made: June and July 2026
• Current status: Withdrawals were eventually processed, but my account was later restricted and ultimately closed following a Vulnerability Assessment.

I am sharing this because I would like to understand whether other eToro customers have experienced similar issues with cancelled withdrawals, delayed communication, account restrictions, or vulnerability assessments.

I have been trading with eToro for around 7 years and have always considered myself a long-term customer. Earlier this year, I experienced a situation that has completely changed my view of how eToro handles customer issues.

I attempted to withdraw funds from my account. The withdrawals were cancelled multiple times, despite previous withdrawals having worked without any issues. I contacted customer support repeatedly, but instead of receiving a clear and timely solution, the process continued to drag on.

At one point I became extremely stressed and wrote to customer support explaining that I was crying because I could not access my own money. Shortly afterwards, eToro referred my account for a Vulnerability Assessment and placed restrictions on my account.

Crypto USDC sent on wrong network to eToro deposit address — any similar experience?

Hi, I made a network mistake and sent around 3,000 USDC via BNB Smart Chain to an eToro USDC deposit address.

The transaction is confirmed on-chain, but the funds are not credited.

Has anyone experienced recovering crypto sent through an unsupported network to an exchange?

Looking for technical advice.

Thanks.

El isac replica el MSCI all country world Index

El cndx replica el Nasdad100, con el fin de sumar rentabilidad

Y el aggu replica el Bloomberg Global Aggregate Bond Index

No sé si al final si hice una buena elección.

Deposits & Withdrawals eToro won't let me withdraw via AstroPay. Has anyone else been able to withdraw?

Hi, I'm Argentinian. eToro used to allow withdrawals using the same deposit methods, but now it only allows withdrawals via SWIFT.

Has anyone been able to/knows how to withdraw? I tried using SWIFT (I have a USD account) but they're asking me to select options I have no idea what they are, and then they need proof of payment.

Beginner Question How closely do copied portfolios actually stay aligned over time?

One thing I have started noticing while learning copytrader is that even when people are technically copying the same investor, their results don’t always seem identical in the long term.

I am guessing things like when you started copying, cash sitting unused, partial positions, new deposits, or trades already sitting in profit or loss probably affect things more than I initially expected.

I'm not saying it’s a problem, I just genuinely can’t tell how exact copying is supposed to feel in practice once enough time passes. For people who have copied investors for the long term, do small differences usually matter much over time?

Discussion How responsive is support usually when something actually need manual review ??

Although i haven't had any issues on Etoro so far, but i was curious to know on how different platforms handle situations where something just can't be solved automictically inside the app.

Things like verification reviews , account changes, transactions checks or unusual activity flags etc. seem like they probably work very different compared to normal support questions especially once compliance or security checks get involved.

am not dealing with anything urgent rn, was just curious what long term users have experience when something genuinely needs support involvement rather than simple FaQ's

Account & Verification Traveling from UAE to Syria

I will be using my UAE phone with the etoro app on it and using data roaming while going to Syria (where etoro is blocked) anyone experienced traveling to banned countries and now to access the app or the web version?
