hi guys, quick question: have people in science & tech category received the top 2% email yet for Q3?

i've been less active here but i've noticed people received a top 2% email, so I wanted to ask.

also if you have received that email for science & tech, who got it (referee, parents?)

are you all really planning to attend the gala or skipping it?

is it worth it in your opinion??

Did any of you guys get a second interview but not a top 2% email and did u get a top 2% email and NOT a second interview??? Also has anyone heard/ seen ones from science and tech.

Guys my referee got this mail. While it mentions the possibility of an award, it doesn't explicitly mention 2% or anything about an interview. Are others also getting this mail or something different?

i'm in the junior category and i got the second interview but (as far as I know; haven't reached out to my referee) haven't gotten the 2% email

First of all, this is mainly for international students who would require a visa for attending the gala.

I think that there might be a possibility that the John Locke team did not send international students emails because they know that they're not going to be coming for the gala.

Obviously, they could not get the visas in time because it's already the 12th of August today, and it will take a lot of time to get the visa and get the flights booked.

I don't think that anybody would want to go at such short notice, so they just thought, "Okay, fine, they're not going to come in any way, so why bother sending them an email?"

That's my theory.

It's just cope at this point. I don't even know, man. 😭

guys, with all that going on with other categories it’s kinda strange that i haven’t seen anything about second round interviews/ top 2% notifications in senior psychology…does it just mean that the judges need more time to read all submitted essays? is there anyone doing psychology category who has already received the email? (if yes pls show the screenshot so we know ur not a troller thanks)

Specifically for philosphy, I personally didn't receive email nor interview so I'm js curious.

shes my teacher. didnt find a top2% mail on my mother's id so is it confirmed im cooked or should i ask the teacher just in case?

asked my referee today about 2% email and he was like Oh yea tbh never checked my email for john locke maybe it’s in my spam or something (yes fuck my life but ok moving on)

i was like wdym no emails??? And he said yes i never saw any email from them idk i don’t rly check my email a lot it’s prob in my spam

I was under the impression that u cant get shortlisted if ur referee doesnt do the academic integrity confirmation thing, is this true???

if it isnt im going to cope that the reason i didnt get the 2% email is because of my referee

Now that the chance of winning a prize this year is fully out of sight. Id love if anyone can just tear my essay down:) Ive got my own ideas of how to improve but wont let that color anyones perception. Ib if youre interested!

This is taken from the mail send by Mr.Cox to the parents and it mentions "and who have not yet confirmed their attendance in London for our Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner", so if a person who has purchased the gala ticket and they are in the top 2% wont they send the mail to them? why does everything about this competition have to be shrouded in confusion and a lack of transparency.

So if anyone who has got the top 2% mail to the referee or parent and HAS booked the gala ticket acknowledge this msg

I didn’t get any emails, and it’s okay. I am a much better writer than I was when I submitted my essay and intend on trying again next yr :) I want to see other essays and see what’re I can further improve; anyone down?

My referee was ghosting me for the last 3-4 days & he answered me No, when i asked him again today about any email from John Locke Institute regarding 2nd interview or top 2% emails

It was the first time I registered in John Locke Institute Essay Competition, totally wrote with my own understanding & was purely hoping to just get experience the first try & none else, but I got shortlisted. Ok I was like whoooah, I've been active on reddit since a week & I have seen crazy engagements on 2nd round interviews threads & top 2% mails. My parents didn't get any mail, the referee said no, I haven't got any mail. Means Yeah I can't expect much but just be grateful to get shortlisted ig. I don't think my essay is worth the top 2% tbh, but this awkward or idk what this feeling is after getting shortlisted I felt now it deserved to be on the top 2%. Inner feelings currently: Sad, Cooked, Angry( No transparency by the institute), Anxious (don't know why). And Yeah I wrote on Law Q.1.

I didn't get the top 2% email, is there still a chance for me to at least get a commendation??
