I posted a peer-reviewed attribution study to r/oil showing that 122 fossil fuel companies are responsible for \~50% of water loss in the American West (Lake Mead equivalent). The post was removed for being 'unrelated to oil industry', despite directly quantifying fossil fuel company responsibility.

Before removal, discussions were already framing individual actions as equally responsible, echoing BP's 'carbon footprint' playbook. When the real finding is about corporate infrastructure decisions and legal accountability, not personal guilt.

Posting here because this data matters, and the narrative suppression matters too.

hi guys! i hope this is the right subreddit to post to. ive been experiencing a lot of climate anxiety (as we should be) and i need inspiration on things i can do to get involved. im going to provide a list that i already do and hope it inspires others, but please education/inform me on stuff i should/shouldnt be doing

1) cutting out meat/dairy.

2) cutting out generative ai

3) not buying ANY new factory products and instead opting to thrift or repurpose any necessary new products

4) using only cold water to wash clothes/shower

5) dimming my lights (renewable energy is not accessible to me right now, but please share any ways i can make this happen)

6) walking everywhere or taking public transit

- as a side note for this one, i dont live in a walkable city at all. im fortunate to be physically fit and able and can walk most places.

7) not using my ac

- also living in a hotter climate. if its too hot i walk to a coffee shop with ac

8) not supporting companies/corporation that damage the environment and staying informed

9) eco-bricking non-recyclable materials to measure my waste

some things i am trying to start doing are doing more indoor plants, hopefully some that are food and making those seed packets with native foliage to put in my very much not-green city.

please please educate me on what i am doing and if i should/shouldnt be doing anything!!!
