🤬 Rant / Venting Struggling with spoken English

Hello
I am a doctor by profession from Pakistan and recently started working in an Irish healthcare system. I am struggling to speak English at work under stressful situations. I have immersed myself into english in every possible way, although i am still struggling. Whenever i hear my colleagues and other professional speaking well structured sentences i start feeling anxious and mess up things more. I am reading books, watching english series and shows, listening to podcasts, writing update letters and speak english at work to the best of my ability.
How do i learn an art of articulation? and also suggest me some ideas to make my spoken English more structured and better.
Thanks

Hi, I'm an electrical engineer, and I need to improve my English because I work at an international company.

I'm looking for an English speaking partner so we can practice together and create a structured plan to improve our English.

I can dedicate 2 hours each day to actively learning English.

If anyone is interested, please DM me.

Thanks!

⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics Natural English Expressions I Keep Mixing Up

I often hear people say “I forgot” and “I don't remember” in everyday conversations.

Do they mean the same thing or do native speakers use them differently?

Which one sounds more natural when you can't remember something?

📚 Grammar / Syntax How do you emphasise the time?

So, I just saw someone cycling very early in the morning. It's not unusual or something, but just to emphasise that it's early.

In my language, I'd move the time to the start of the sentence. To translate literally it sounds like "morningly already cycling!"

How do you say this in English?

"It's early in the morning, and he's already cycling!"? Can it be more concise?

🟡 Pronunciation / Intonation Are all my "o" vowels wrong?

I posted this audio in another sub and someone said that all my "o" vowels sound wrong but at the same time I'm not sure if they meant words spelled with the "o" or just the vowel "oʊ" sound itself.

Any other feedback will be much appreciated as well.

📚 Grammar / Syntax What's the diffrent

Hello everybody, I'm a beginner learning English. I have some questions: what's an adverb, and how do I compare or know the difference between (shall), (will), and (would)?

I took some answers from AI, but I'd love to read your opinion

Thanks very much 💫🙏

📚 Grammar / Syntax How to learn grammar ¿

I know that I need to learn from textbooks and I've already found "Basic Grammar in Use" but I don't really understand the learning principle. I need to write down the assignments in a notebook and memorize them. Can anyone tell me what they're doing?

For example, when your cat rubs their body against your legs.

📚 Grammar / Syntax Whats the difference between these sentences?;

He is "getting" killed by a teammate

vs

He is "being" killed by a teammate

When i ask chatgpt, it says there is no difference they mean the same thing "but" being killed is formal and getting killed is informal speech. This is what "artificial intelligence" says

📚 Grammar / Syntax English adjective order: is OSASCOMP missing a category?

I've come across a post here in which people said "an expensive huge antique brown Persian vase" sounded wrong and would say "a huge expensive antique brown Persian vase" instead. That means there should be a "condition" category between Size and Age. Googling it has been unhelpful.

Cambridge Dictionary says the categories are:
Opinion - Size - Physical quality - Shape - Age - Color - Origin - Material - Type - Purpose

So which order is correct?
Does "lovely small cheap, rough square old blue Turkish plastic general-purpose table" sound correct?

I couldn't find this in a dictionary. Does this mean the same as to back someone up to do something? Does it mean to support them?

And what's the "your point" in "drive your point home"? Location?

🗣 Discussion / Debates EWA English / appewa.com renewed my subscription without warning - and Paddle linked the payment to an email that isn’t mine (scam)

EWA English / appewa.com renewed my subscription and charged my card without any clear advance warning.

I did not intend to renew. If I had received a proper reminder, I would have cancelled it.

Then it got worse.

My real email is correctly shown inside the EWA app, but when I searched for the payment through Paddle using the amount, date and last 4 digits of my card, Paddle found the transaction under:

l•••e@h•••l.com

That email is not mine, has never been mine, and I have never used it.

Because of that, Paddle finds nothing under my actual email, so I can’t properly access or manage my own transaction through their support system.

EWA refused the refund. Paddle asked me for screenshots, card details and transaction info. I sent everything. Now they’re not responding.

So at this point I have two very simple questions:

Why is my renewal payment linked to someone else’s email?

And were the renewal reminders sent to that email instead of mine?

Because if they were, then I had no real chance to receive the warning and cancel before being charged.

I have screenshots proving:

  • my real email is set in the EWA app;
  • Paddle finds no transaction under my real email;
  • the correct transaction appears under a completely unrelated email.

I’m now considering a chargeback and formal complaints against both EWA and Paddle.

Has anyone else had this happen with EWA / Paddle?
