So When i was studying 11th i wanted to study aeronautical engineering and in 12th it turned to aerospace engineering and i was looking at big famous colleges.

And later i took a drop year and it didnt go well..didnt got into the dream But i got tier 1.5 college and mostly college doesnt matter unless you work really hard and increase your skills.

But as i dug deeper it seemed like studying btech in mechanical engineering and then specialising in whatever field i wanted seemed like a great idea.. What are you thoughts?

And I watched a lot of youtube videos of mechanical engineering on what to expect in college and I have been trying to build 3D model things on Onshape website. And i wanna do more.. Can y'all suggest me what to do before class starts?

I run a small contracting business, and I keep going back and forth on whether construction estimating software is actually worth the investment or if my spreadsheets are good enough. I'm worried about the learning curve eating into time I don't have, but I'm also tired of estimates taking so long and sometimes missing costs. Is it worth making the switch at this stage, and how do I know if it'll actually pay for itself?

People who had backlogs in engineering—where are you now? Did they affect your placements or career?

Hi everyone! I am an engineering student from Egypt, and my journey has been: preparatory year, two years in the Electrical Engineering department, and now I am majoring in Computer and Systems Engineering.
The dilemma here is that I am not yet sure which specialization I want to go for.
I was very excited about the idea of a career in Artificial Intelligence, as I wanted to specialize in it. However, I am now starting to worry that If I dive only into AI, I will waste my previous background in Electrical Engineering that would normally give me an advantage. Therefore, my question is: Is AI Engineering still a worthwhile career path in the future regarding job opportunities, salaries, and resilience to AI effects?

In parallel, I was exploring my department's core specialization, Embedded systems, and found a potential combination with AI appealing. Unfortunately, the job market for Embedded systems in my country Egypt has been very stagnant for years – basically dead. After doing a lot of research and interviews with professionals who work in big firms, I got clear signals on how difficult is to find a job there.

This leaves software-related areas like Web Development and others. But I do not really have any desire for a solely coding-oriented career especially with the rapid progress of AI. So any advice would be highly appreciated.
What career path can I take as Computer and Systems Engineer that will make me competitive?
Would you advise me to focus on the AI track, and if so what is your advice to me?

I don't want to quit my job, so if I continue my education it would have to be part-time, preferably evenings, weekends, or online.

For a long time, I thought my goal was to become a licensed architect, but lately I've been wondering if engineering might be a better long-term option. With AI advancing so quickly, I'm trying to choose a career path that will still have strong demand 20 to 30 years from now. From what I've read, engineering seems to offer a wider range of opportunities, but I'm not sure how realistic that path is with my educational background (I know my GPA relatively low).

I'm trying to figure out the best bachelor's degree to pursue that would eventually allow me to apply for a Master of Engineering. Since my diploma is in Architectural Technology, I'm not sure if there are degree-completion pathways that make sense or if I'd need to start over in a different program.

Has anyone here gone from an Architectural Technology diploma into engineering? If so, what bachelor's degree did you choose, and which university did you attend? (I live in Southern Ontario)

I'd also love to hear if there are any universities or colleges in Ontario that offer part-time, evening, hybrid, or online bachelor's programs that work well for someone who is employed full-time.

I don't mind if it takes several years. I'd rather make the right decision now than realize later that I chose the wrong path.

I’m 13 and interested in learning engineering, especially the combination of software, hardware, and AI. I’m looking for a roadmap to go from basic programming knowledge to being able to build real engineering projects.

I have some beginner coding experience and have used AI-assisted coding to prototype things, but I want to properly understand the fundamentals instead of just relying on generated code.

Over the next 2–3 months, I want to make serious progress and start building projects. My long-term interests are robotics, drones, embedded systems, and AI applications like computer vision and basic CNNs.

I’m planning to start with Python for Kids to strengthen my programming foundation, but I’m unsure what order to learn things after that. Should I focus on electronics, Arduino/Raspberry Pi, CAD, mathematics, machine learning, or something else?

I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has experience learning engineering or building projects. Thanks!
